I'm writing this review specific to the Highland Park store. I've been visiting Vin in HP for 10 years now, and there was a time not too long ago when I was addicted to shopping there. Vin's knowledgeable staff helped me stock and build my cellar - from everyday bottles at $25 to special Picasso on bottles at $500. Oh, and the casual cool feel of the store and people is always inviting. I do love their selection and they have a ton of good finds too. Back for Prosecco! Years ago I picked up Prosecco for a ladies night hair salon event I co-hosted. It made complete sense to stop back in a second time in preparation of a similar event that happened last night. What's great about coming to Vin Chicago, is the fact that you can get everything you need for a really fantastic price...and value. I purchased seven bottles of Prosseco at $8.99 per bottle. Super helpful for my budget, and I feel good purchasing here because the business is family owned. I fully admit to being green when it comes to picking out Prosecco. Thankfully this store is super organized, small enough to navigate, and the signage led me to the proper aisle. There were about 3-4 types. I didn't see the brand from the last time, and so I knew it was time to get assistance. There was this "hi" brand that was super girly and cute, and then it was a toss up between two others. The guy who assisted me (at a loss for his name at the moment), was fantastic. He led me to a new bottle they just got in from the 90+ collection. Vin in Highland Park (Barrington too, and I have never been to the Chicago location) is a great place to shop. Vin does an A-1 job selecting wines and most of the time is priced lower than other stores. Ask any question you want, Vin's knowledgeable staff will set you in the right direction for the wine you are looking for. Saturday tastings are a treat too because for me at least I will try a wine I otherwise would not have thought about. read more

Vin Chicago is the greatest gem of a wine store. Tucked away between the highway and the Tesla dealer, this little shop seems like not much. But they have the best selection of wines at great prices. The guys who work here are also very educated on their products and can suggest items that you're looking for. They even had 10 kosher for Passover wines last time I was in, which was incredible to find! They also email you the tasting notes/save it in their system so you can see what you got last time and order again if you liked it. Overall this place is great! read more

A neighbor of ours who is in the wine importing business first recommended Wine Discount Center to us years ago. We have been loyal customers ever since. They have great prices especially the advertised specials. Most of the employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. Although they did lose our favorite expert a few years ago. And there is at least one employee that I ran into for the first time the other day that did not know the stock at all. If you have the bad luck to have that person helping you just thank him and go find someone else. I am sure the next staff member will be super helpful. As a last comment we have attended a few of the wine dinners that they have hosted in the past and they are always superb! read more

Tucked away and off the beaten path, I'm sure people don't typically happen upon this place without searching it out specifically. I stopped here once a few weeks ago and wandered a bit before an extremely helpful gentleman took a break from stacking cases and asked if he could help me out with anything. And boy did he! I told him about the varieties and characteristics of wine that my wife and I enjoy most and he quickly led me to several very good selections at my desired price point. All were spot on and I found myself returning just a week or two later for a few more bottles of our favorite. Best secret in Chicago. THE best prices on wine anywhere in the area. PLUS, it's Lake County taxes--lower than Cook down the road. It's an interesting place. Low overhead. Most wines are displayed in cut open cases. Lot's of the same old brands...and lot's more interesting wines you won't see everywhere. Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. They get a number of deals on wines--but don't dawdle--when it's gone it's gone. The store is a little off the beaten path, but it sure is worth finding. Great shop. We recently transplanted from the city and love the Lincoln Park Binny's but this place is a different kind of wine merchant. The staff is great and knowledgeable, they don't keep junk on the shelves, only source good Vins and their prices are competitive. What's not to like? Then they email your tasting notes of you want and the other emails actually add value, as do their reviews.
