A Shining Light at 5 Below - The Kindest Young Man I've Met!…read more I don't usually leave reviews, but after my recent visit to 5 Below, I felt absolutely compelled to share my experience. There was a young boy working there -- I wish I had gotten his name -- but he left such a strong impression on me that I couldn't go without writing this. In a world that can often feel rushed and impersonal, this boy stood out like a beacon of kindness, patience, and genuine warmth. From the moment I walked into the store, I noticed him. He greeted every single person who walked in with the most sincere smile -- not the forced, robotic kind, but the kind that made you feel like you mattered. That small gesture alone was refreshing, but it was just the beginning. As I browsed through the aisles, I had some trouble reaching something on a higher shelf, and without me even having to ask, he noticed and came over to assist. He was so polite and respectful, saying "Let me help you with that" in the gentlest voice. It wasn't just about being helpful -- it was the way he helped. He made me feel seen, valued, and never like a burden. A few minutes later, I noticed an elderly man struggling with his cart, and once again, this kind boy stepped in immediately -- with no hesitation and no need for recognition. He chatted with the man kindly, helped him sort through items, and even offered to walk him to the front to check out. You could see how much it meant to that gentleman. Honestly, it made me emotional just witnessing it. At the register, I watched him patiently help a younger child who had dropped some candy and was on the verge of tears. Instead of brushing it off, he knelt down, helped the child pick everything up, and even made a funny face to cheer them up. The child's tears turned to giggles in seconds. It was such a small moment, but it spoke volumes about his character. In every interaction, this boy radiated compassion. He wasn't just doing his job -- he was doing it with heart. He treated everyone with the same level of kindness and respect, whether it was a small child, a teen shopping with friends, or an elderly customer just browsing. That kind of character and empathy is rare, especially in someone so young. I hope this review reaches his manager, because this young man deserves every bit of recognition. He's not only a fantastic representative of the 5 Below brand -- he's the kind of person who makes the world a better place just by being in it. I left the store that day feeling lighter, simply because I had witnessed real, honest kindness. If every store had just one employee like him, shopping wouldn't just be about buying things -- it would be an experience of joy and connection. To the kind boy at 5 Below: thank you. Keep being you. The world needs more hearts like yours.

They were crowded, as they often are, and I'm I big guy trying not to knock things over, so I stood aside and let my daughter handle the transaction. There's a spot in Brooklyn on Pitkin Ave where a few homes are extravagantly decorated for Christmas. Not in the Clark Griswald sense of extravagantly decorated, but attention to the smallest little detail, as with the lamppost on the corner within the snowy winer little town setting. There's something about figurines that enchants the inner child in me and my heart flutters as my eyes are mesmerized scanning the little street with the sled repair shop business, the bakery and the chocolatier with the rotating gears that pop out beautiful little chocolates. I love trees and lights, stockings and ornaments but the little towns people doing little pre Christmas things - in these Rockerll-esq scenes, I dare say that my Christmas would be incomplete without. So the spot in Brooklyn is no longer operational, I banged a right on Crossbay like I'd done in years past, and drove until the lights hit, but there were no lights, there was nothing. An online search revealed it (the ornamentally appointed homes) were no more, it vanished, it was all over. But you basically sat in your car and "oooohhh-ed" and "aaaahhh-ef" until done jackhole blared his horn,l. It was over crowded but a testiment to the folks that put it all together. So I typed in "Christmas" into Yelp and bang, 3 miles away was the Christmas Store. It was in an area I knew well, somehow it's eluded me as it's been in business for years, it was the old piano manufacturer. A look inside and your immediately greeted by tens of thousands of ornamental displays, this Christmas wonderland was chiming the song "down the chimney with ole St Nick" The owner and I spoke, he had great cheer and has a wonderful eye for placement. I initially commented to him on the magnificence of the garlands and floating wreaths. The shop is giant and full, old wooden boards creeking under your feet as your looking around, ho upstairs, it gets better! Big Nutcracker soldiers and Santa in his sleigh reading the little letters. Snowman, snowflakes, pinecones, silver bells and bugles. Organize organically with like creatures and like trees and I took a video of the little towns which il attempt to post now to get y'all excited about Christmas 2025. I could write on and on and I'm withholding temptation not too. Happy New Year Everyone
