***First of all, the comments on here are from the apartment management. This place has now also been open to section 8. I invite to please go visit at night, get down, and walk through the courtyard. You will be propositioned for sex, smell weed really strong, and someone will ask if you if "you are looking for something." The people are "CROOKS!!!, and you are just a paycheck for them. Parties to all hours of the night, and people walking around the complex until daylight. Extremely unsafe.
Please save yourself a headache and do not move here! I moved to Dallas and was told about this place in Oak Lawn. HUGE MISTAKE! You are given a rental rate and surprise you are charged about $140 flat fee for electricity no matter how many people. There were literally apartments with 6-8 people in them that paid the same electric bill that I did. There are several homeless people and drug-addicts that roam through the apartments at all hours of the day and night. I was doing laundry and walked in, turned on the light, and a naked homeless African American man was in there and approached me. If you are into "crack", then you will be in luck here. There is alot of drug dealing action that goes on here. I have never lived in such an unsafe place ever. The management team, is in office whenever they want to be. At one point they were only there on Monday's and Friday's till 3:00. I had multiple issues trying to drop off my rent, but was told I could just leave it on my counter and maintenance could come in to get it. Yes, no drop box.
The apartment I moved in to, the management failed to tell me it was vacant because the gentleman that lived there had recently committed suicide and his body was found in there. Legally since I wasn't buying they didn't have to inform me and I totally understand that. I had my door kicked in twice at 4:00am by a neighbor who had PTSD and told the manager I was sending him messages through the wall, while I was asleep. I have police record numbers to support these incidents. When I first moved there, I had homeless people knocking at my door all the way up to 1:00am looking for the lady who sold illegal bus passes. Besides the homeless that live there, there is so much drug activity that I don't see how this place has not gotten into serious legal action. I seriously wish I was making this up, but I am not. Contact the police department, they should have a multitude of complaints. I also called multiple times to have my locks changed for safety issues, but they did nothing. I went and purchased a new lock and doorknob and replaced it myself.
Now, I am dealing with trying to get my deposit back. I have left multiple message trying to handle this in a professional manner, but like I said the management is really lacking in professionalism and ethical behavior. I have yet to get a response. Although, I never paid my rent late, never got noise complaints, or caused any issues. Due to all of the homeless, drug, and prostitution in the complex I wouldn't even have my friends come over and I was stuck in my lease. In return I got a rude staff, uncontrollable roach problems, Oh yes and all that air conditioning you are paying for well they have their thermostats to only go to 72 degrees, which is not accurate. Most of the summer the apartment was over 80 degrees. Three times my air went out completely and they put a small window unit downstairs only. My upstairs where I slept and showered was anywhere from 95-110 degrees. My last two weeks there my air went out, and ofcourse they brought a small window unit. They never fixed my air so I went to my new apartments and asked if my apartment would possibly be ready earlier then the end of the month and that I didn't mind paying. So on top of not getting my deposit back, I was also paying for two apartments and a hotel room for a while because they would not fix the air conditioning. To top it off, when trying to move to my new place my new apartment managers waited several days because the apartment management would not return their phone calls for my rental history. Even they stated they have never dealt with this type of unprofessional management.
This is literally the most unsafe place to stay in Oak Lawn. I had nightmares and many times went to stay at my parents due to the safety issues and having anxiety over this. I seriously wish I was making this up. I highly recommend doing your research, and even check to see the types of police reports have been submitted at this place. Everything OTHER place around this place is gorgeous, and then you have this eye soar. Which is now some type of section 8 building from what I have been told. I wish I could give it negative stars. read more
