This must be the only grocery store in Estes because it is always packed, always a long check out…read moreline, and always hard to find parking. This trip was no different. I don't think they even try to keep shelves restocked during business orders. Shelves are chaotic. Prices are high. .We spend over $100 and hardly bought anything. I don't really like this store but absent alternatives we don't have much choice. I think that is what Safeway is counting on.

Many of the other Walmart staples (clothes, home, pharmacy, personal items). Popped in to pick up sewing supplies while spending a week here in Steamboat. This store was clean although a little crowded with merchandise, probably because it's small. For COVID precautions they seem to be doing good. Masks required (by county). All staff elevating masks. Aisles were indicated one way. For the most part people were respecting one another's personal space.

So be sure to grab those first if you need eggs. I also recommend that you bring your own bags because Colorado banned plastic bags and the paper bags they use don't have handles. So it can be tricky if you don't have others helping you bring in the groceries. Luckily my uber driver was nice enough to help me bring my bags to the door step.

It can feel a little awkward having to say you're a local at the register, and it would be much easier if customers could just use a phone number lookup instead. I'm also not sure why the locals perk would be limited to only Mondays. Something available throughout the week would make more sense for people who live here. Prices are definitely on the high side, which is understandable in a small mountain town, but a small loyalty perk for locals would go a long way. During the summer I was also told they could make sandwiches during the day but couldn't slice deli meat, which seemed a bit odd and a little confusing as a customer.
