Courteous service, food tastes great provided you do not mind the grease. Prices are skewed a little on the higher side.

Food good, portions generous, staff friendly... and probably best value for money for eating out in Amersham.

The Pomeroy Inn was one of those places that I'd always driven past but never actually tried…read more However, I can now finally say that it is well worth a visit. The interior of the pub is a sort of cross between traditional English pub and restaurant -- and the servers are friendly and efficient. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they offer a set menu of £22 for two courses or £26 for three, with a variety of dishes on offer just on this menu. Some of these have the option to upgrade, and it was of this that I availed myself. I opted for the fresh scallops to start, and these were delightful! Served with chorizo and edible flowers, the smokiness of the scallops was beautiful. For mains, I chose a Wagyu burger and topped it with grilled halloumi, served with sweet potato fries and onion rings. The burger was cooked slightly medium rare which kept its meatiness intact, and the halloumi on top was an inspired addition. For dessert, a simple crème brûlée. Beautifully served with a strawberry on top and oat biscuits to the side, the vanilla cream in the dessert was one of the best I have ever tasted. All in all, this place is worth a visit. The prices aren't cheap, but nor are they expensive enough to leave you with an eye-watering check -- and the food is certainly worth the price!

Very intriguing mix of country-gastro-pub. From the menu to the decor to the staff you can tell…read morethat the Pomeroy is committed to creating a quality experience. The menu is eclectic touching on some pub classics (burger, steaks, fish and chips), to continental (pâte mousse) to American farm-to-table (pork belly) (they have Sierra Nevada on Tap!!!). I had the pâte to start and the pork belly with scallops for the main. Each course was well proportioned. The scallops were perfectly done but small. For the park belly I was expecting a pavé of pork belly confit. Instead i was served more of a pancetta roll (a little heavy on the pepper). The accompanying sides (brocoli and potatoes dauphinois) were excellent. The sauce was a perfect and didn't over power. Overall if your interested in a free-wheeling pub-night and want a homey cosy experience but aren't too concerned with a gourmet menu, keep going down the road to Little Chalfont and stop at the White Lion. If you want a more refined experience, but not too formal, the Pomeroy is a great spot. Definitely recommended. Plus the cocktails are quite good !

Overall, this is a wonderful place as a relaxed hang out or casual dinner spot. I stumbled upon…read morethis place jet lagged after a long flight. What a fantastic reward. I had an excellent micro-brew, as well as a well made burger with chips. The meal was prepared with care and was excellent. The service is low key (one orders at the bar, but the meals is delivered to the table), however the staff was super friendly and warm. Suffice to say, my decision to return the following evening was evidence of a good first impression. My repeat visit did not disappoint. If you're a burger snob, I wouldn't say that we're talking better than JG Mellon, or Carnegie Deli, but that would miss the point. This is a sweet unpretentious local spot that is doing their thing with care.

Spoilt my Sunday! My…read morepartner and I popped in here for a late Sunday breakfast feeling upbeat and happy. We left annoyed, angry and frankly it upset us. Why? Well because of rude and insolent service from a young lady on the till. Talk about nasty - she really should be awarded a gold medal for it. We ordered 2 breakfasts - mine was the carnivore option minus the eggs and beans, but I asked for some black pudding. "That'll be an extra 50p for the black pudding anyway" snapped back the young lady. Oh well, rules are rules I thought - I just want a breakfast. My partner opted for the vegetarian breakfast. Both breakfasts included toast. Mine also included a 'sausage patty' (this never arrived). Toast - well, in my experience this is usually delivered with butter. It didn't. I queried this with the charming young lady and she said "technically it doesn't come with butter". My response was "what - dry toast?" - answer : "did you actually ASK for butter?" Do you WANT butter?" Following my affirmative reply she turned heel and stomped off while my partner approached a far more amenable member of staff and secured some butter. When the charming young lady returned and I said we'd sorted the problem she rolled her eyes and again stomped off. So 20 quid for a mediocre breakfast but with free nastiness thrown in. Don't go here.
