I was a "walk in" to their immediate care, I have a bad knee (old sports injuries w/ a history of 2…read moresurgeries). This time never had this knee been in this type of pain-it was an 8 out of 10. Anyway, I saw a doctor who seemed to rushed, cold, with what felt like to me as rapid fire questions on medical history(surgeries, ect). I could not remember everything at that moment. Mind you I was in intense pain, drove myself there & walking(limping) from parking lot. Sorry but dealing with/ intense pain combined w/ feeling intimidated w/ a new doc who seemed rushed & cold , yeah no. Anyway, I had X-rays & he said I have 2 bad knees & he thought it was arthritis on this swollen painful knee. He withdrew fluid & injected a numbing agent(yes it hurt). He could not prescribe meds (anti inflammatories ) since I am taking a blood thinner due to clots in legs, thus causing potential of bleeds). The pain is still there-7 out of 10 on pain scale. I hope it's better in the next few days w/ the excess fluid drained). BUT why should I be made to feel shitty & like I was minimized, rushed, and did not matter as an older person who could not think quickly. I had no idea that arthritis could do this kind of immobilizing acute pain barely able to walk. I am an old athlete-loved sports, running, & weight training. No room for education or discussion during this rapid appt.- on to next patient aft 10 min. It sounds like all these doctors are stretched to their max- after hearing & reading complaints(incld my spouse who is a psych PhD)....like it's a little like an "ol boys club" in regards to denial of complaints, listening to patients, patients w/ pain vs denial of such. Or maybe it's simple preservation & profits. Why put emergency walk-in patients on the schedule of over burdened doctors??! Also their website feels outdated and inefficient. I filled in the forms for early check in. Once I got to their office they had me fill out those forms once again. A nurse/assist or whoever it was working with/ me in doc office said he submitted a request to my insurance to get gel shots in my knee. I've heard of such & it being helpful. But doc never mentioned it. WTH?? I don't see myself returning to IBJI. I will look either for someone in a private practice or a more progressive group, and/or who has a better doctor to patient ratio-less burned out & over worked in privately owned clinics, and importantly has physiatrists.

Good experience. Special thanks to Phisical Terapist John Howe and Assistant Rtvin Quinlan!! Very…read morenice Front Desk Staff!!!

I am so unbelievably grateful for Carrie, a phenomenally knowledgeable Physical Therapist, and her…read moreattention and care for me and my knee. After an intense knee surgery, I was in need of additional PT, and from my very first session, Carrie was consistently a good listener, respected my feelings, and honored my pain, progress, and situation. She always put me first and acknowledged that I knew my body best. Every session was catered and personalized to what I needed at the moment and she never defaulted to a standard routine. From icing to taping, to using a variety of PT tools, I was always impressed with her dedication to my case and her genuine desire to heal me. Carrie never seized to impress me with her knowledge as she would be quick to grab a knee model and name ligaments, tendons, and their functions to help my understanding. I really valued how she stayed on top of my health by being in constant communication with my surgeon, knee specialist, and keeping records of my images and paperwork. What I most appreciated about my over two months of being Carrie's patient, is how in tune she was with how I was feeling and what I needed. She never questioned my pain or tolerance--at every stage, she acknowledged and respected my sentiments. Carrie never dismissed what I felt about my knee (although at times it was difficult for me to explain!) and she always, always believed me. As a patient, this level of sincerity and trust is essential. Because of this environment, my journey was not forced, but a natural progression at the right pace for me. In addition, the PT aids Michelle, Pooja, and Kate were incredible in contributing to successful sessions by being fast, eager to help, and attentive to me, staying by my side while I did exercises. They were truly compassionate professionals who consistently made sure I felt secure and supported. Thank you, Athletico for providing me sure wonderful healthcare and especially for Carrie, who gave my knee some much needed TLC.

In addition, my insurance says I owe less than what I am being billed. I have brought this to Athletico's attention and provided the EOB's from my insurance and they continue to text that my statements are ready to be paid but they haven't made any changes to the statements or reached out with an explanation of the discrepancy. Based on this I feel they are trying to balance bill me which they are not allowed to do based on negotiated discounts with my insurance. If you use Athletico I would review your statements carefully before paying.
