As for the fees, the State Sales Tax goes to the State, not Hessney. The buyers premium is indeed a rip off (since Hessney likely charges the SELLER a fee as well), but it is clearly stated at the beginning of every single auction and on his web site. The saddest thing is that buyer's premium does not buy you any guarantees. I think if you are being told that an item is in a certain condition, then it turns out that it does not work the buyer's premium should allow you to bring the item back for a refund of the bid price. The buyer's premium should be an insurance policy, not an extra 10% fee for Hessney. I would waive insurance if I could waive the fee. But to waive any insurance and still pay a fee above an beyond your bid price is just thievery.

At one point, a women he obviously knew was fanning herself and he was disturbed by it. The interaction between the two of them was very uncomfortable to witness. His forbidding her to use the fan and her continuing to do so to the point he approached her and attempted to take the fan. Additionally, it was very difficult to see the current item up for bid as the staff stood in one spot with the items held at their mid section. With so many people seated in front of you, even bobbing and weaving your head, you could rarely see the item. He often barked orders at his staff, again a behavior that was uncomfortable to witness. When they did have listings on Auction Zip I did enjoy going and bidding on items. There were lots of "hidden" items that you had to poke around for in order to find before the bidding began.

There was no clear cut provenance on this particular piece. However, they went out of their way to insure me that it was real as a result of the other high end bidders. They did not reveal their identity but assured me that those in the industry had assured them of the authenticity. They also sent me links on similar items that helped reassure me. After I won the auction piece they were able to make special arrangements for delivery since the piece was extremely fragile. I also looked at their Tiffany selection which I thought was very good. Their bid fees are very reasonable in comparison to some other auction houses. I will use them again.

I tried calling which they do not pick up my calls, they do not reply to emails, only have resorted through texting which they have been of no help. Their excuse was "My wife works at USPS, you can file". What a load of BS. These people are scum! I will be reporting them to the BBB and will also upload texts and emails from these people so you can see how unprofessional they are. Extremely frustrated with these people. Please stay away!
