So it was some trepidation that we made our booking at Kaimai Country Lodge. The online reviews certainly looked promising ...but you never know! We needn't have worried. This place is awesome. It was designed from the ground up to be a B&B so everything has been thought out to maximize guest comfort and privacy. The rooms are cleverly arranged to give every one their own unique and amazing view from a private deck. There is also a stunning lounge should everyone want to sit together. You can tell that the owners really care about the experience of their guests. They seemed excited and pleased to welcome us when we arrived. They jumped into action and were warm and engaging. They even waved us off after our stay just like we were family. Everything you could ever need is available for you to enjoy...sun hats, beach towels, extra pillows, powerful hair dryers, tea, coffee, books, cookies, bug spray, refrigerator etc. I mentioned that the only thing the place was missing was a power strip so we could charge our devices...moments later one was added to the "borrow area"...amazing. Some other things to mention... - sleep quality was awesome (this place is very quiet) - there is an overhead fan in the room which can keep you cool at night - breakfast is dynamite - there are great walks around the property (with fields of kiwi and avocados) - the back yard is beautiful...make sure you take a look - the arrival tea was delicious We loved our stay here and would be pleased to return some day.

The breakfast that Geoff whips up is one of the best breakfast meals we have had in New Zealand, from fresh juice and coffee to homemade jams (which are delicious!), homemade cereal/granola, eggs, bacon and sausage along with fresh fruit! Lorraine was also nice enough to drive us into town to show us around eventually dropping us off at Eat Street which is roughly only about 15-20 minutes walk from the home. You get your own private room and bathroom, and when we told them we were on our honeymoon, they were so sweet and left us a nice message along with 2 personal bottles of champagne and Belgian chocolate. I would definitely recommend anyone who is staying at Rotorua to reside here as it was a very pleasant experience.

This was the best stay and the best sleep that we had anywhere in New Zealand. The scenery is stunning and calming with a creek that runs through the grounds, the sounds of several birds, and trails to explore. The guest room we stayed in was immaculately clean and comfortable, attached the house but with our own private bathroom, private deck overlooking the grounds, and tea, coffee and cookies awaiting our arrival. This was our first night in New Zealand and the hospitality and generosity that we received made us feel so welcome to the country. We were invited to dinner on her deck with her friends and family and were brought a plentiful breakfast with the best homemade croissants I have ever had. Make sure you check out the outdoor secluded bath to really let your worries and stress go away. I recommend anyone to come and stay with Rowena and her dog Maggie at the Rangimarie!

This is an upmarket B&B just a short walk to the Eden Park stadium. I've had the pleasure of chatting to the owners, Anthony and Marlene, who are really lovely and do make it a point to take good care of their guests. I also had a chance to walk through and can report their bedroom suites are just gorgeous. The three bedrooms are plushly decorated in keeping with the heritage character of this period villa. They all have very modern ensuites which I think are nicer than a lot of hotels. In fact, don't bother about an impersonal hotel, book in with these guys for a real Mt Eden experience and for some genuine hospitality.

But the hosts, Angie and Leigh are also extremely welcoming, friendly and caring, providing a lot of tips on what to do in the area. We couldn't have asked for any better service during our unfortunately quite short stay. The Lodge itself is stylish, modern and clean on the outside and inside. Our room - Kiwi - had just the perfect size and amenities. Breakfast was also excellent, with plenty of nice things to choose from. As a bonus, some comic relief is provided by the very cute Alpacas, and a quite charming cat, Oscar. Really the only downside was the shortness of our stay, just one night. We certainly have to fix that next time we visit Rotorua, and the City Lights Boutique Lodge.

What a gorgeous accommodation on the island with a magic view, darling bedroom suites and an amazing central dining room and lounge. The French connection comes in handy when Gene is planning his dishes, the meals at Te Whau are divine and a degustation celebration among fellow guests is a highlight. The lodge is very architectural, very stylish and there is lots of beautiful NZ art on display. I love the ensuites and showers incorporating corrugated iron, very clever.

Once you arrive to the address, you'll continue to drive over a short gravel hilly road and pass by a few cows. Once arrived, you'll walk towards the rear for the entrance and discover a vast field of lush greenery. It's a very nice view, especially while eating breakfast. The house is shared with four rooms. It makes things a little more interesting because you'll get people to talk to, but there is only one bathroom to share. Fortunately, everyone on our stay used the restroom on different times so it wasn't bad. The breakfast was great. Fresh juice, cereal, granola bar, yogurt, bread, toast, and fruit. We just ate a bowl of cereal and shared a kiwi. While we were making breakfast, the house cat and dog stopped by which was pleasant. The local town is only about a five minute drive. There are a few restaurants options to choose from, but we stuck with McDonalds. It's actually a pretty nice McDonalds and it seemed like the local hang out spot. They have a hot tub in the backyard and a trampoline. We definitely took advantage of the trampoline lol. At night, you can see the stars, but there is still some light pollution so it's not the best. The host was polite. Isn't much of a talker, but we weren't expecting too much.
