It's on my commute route and I've been here a handful of times. With all the Italian restaurants in Munich, there's just a lot of competition to be really outstanding. I've mostly stuck to pasta dishes at La Giara. Food is simple and straightforward, well-prepared. Most pastas are around €7 for a good-sized portion at lunch or dinner, including dishes like tagliatelle with salmon in a lobster cream sauce with a generous amount of salmon. Pizzas and salads are reliably good. There is also a board of menu specials. Interior is old-school Italian, lots of dark wood, etc... Service has always been prompt and friendly whether I've been for lunch alone or in a larger group for a work-related function. If you happen to be in the area, it's a good choice for decent Italian food at lower prices than restaurants right in the city center.

No frills just good Italian cuisine. I highly recommend the lasagna and bolognese though we have never had a bad meal. Take out is also a good option.
