Wow, this easily was the best gelato I've ever had! My mouth is watering thinking back to having this week. Be sure to check out this location and treat yourself to an affogato - yum!

I spoke with the owner who gave me a brief history of the origins of their business. Bauli is the last name of the Italian owner and creator of these adorable little Minuto pastries. The inside has such cute eye appeal with bright pastels. It's kept tidy and clean. A cute little purple vespa sits at the entrance. Their theme is a purple lavender --my favorite --which is probably why this appealed to me visually. There's plenty of seating inside and at the back is a rotating wall of "fun-facts" about minuto Bauli. I highly recommend checking that out. The company also does wholesale with future collabs in certain retails/grocers. All their minuto bread is made fresh daily and it is cut down longitudinally in the middle and stuffed which creamy filling of your choosing. I tried the hazelnut and dark chocolate fillings, which were exquisite. I love pistachio but it was too sweet of an after-taste. Then you also get toppings of your choosing for each little loaf. I got the crushed pistachios and hazelnuts. Then sprinkled with some powder sugar. You can order sets of 2,4, or 6 loaves in a box to go. The pastry cream flavor is a classic and I wanted to take it with me but it is better refrigerated or eaten promptly. They also have savory snacks like margarita pizza and salame piccante, as well as ham-and-cheese croissant in case you want lunch before a sweet treat. I do recommend checking out this adorable little spot where the team seems dedicated to their Italian pastry.

(Gotta love those city hours.) I bought a few items for my host, including their croissant loaf. They loved the pasteis de nata or egg tart/dan tat as well. I'm partial to an almond croissant, and the ones at Paris Baguette are flaky and delcious. I had a latte from their machine they operate behind the counter. Let me tell ya, robots make pretty decent coffee. All the staff was incredibly sweet and bore with my jet lag morning person phase. Highly recommend! Oh, and if you're ever craving a beautiful cake, they have several in the case usually in the morning, or you can put in an order in advance.

Now, I do not need to take a train or head out to Veniero's in Manhattan. I have been getting cakes at Paris Baguette. The owner(s) are in nearly everyday during the week as far as I'm aware and they'll make sure everything you order is precisely what you wanted. After one or two visits, they'll also recognize you immediately as you enter through the door. The menu isn't very sophisticated; it primarily has a variety of breakfast sandwiches (which are served all day) and other simple combinations for lunch. Nevertheless, you can tweak anything on the menu - add to it, subtract from it, substitute something - to your liking or simply make your own sandwich. It's very simple and maybe we certainly need simple once in a while. The prices are incredibly reasonable so if you're willing to invite simplicity served with incredible hospitality then I urge you to give this place a try. Have a sandwich, coffee, take a seat, and have a breather.

The store is just a stone's throw away from St John's University, so they get a lot of hungry students at lunchtime. I wandered in to give them a try after seeing my Yelp buddy, Matteo's pics from 11 years ago. There are no pics of food, so I decided to fix that. Prices are more than reasonable and great for budget conscious students. The menu is simple & straight forward without crazy combo sandwiches with wild names like at some other Queens delis. The Philly Cheesesteak is probably the most complicated sandwich they have and you have a choice of cheese, for which I opt for American. They ran out of hero rolls, so I settled for a round Kaiser roll. It comes with grilled onions & peppers, all for $7.99+tax and you even get a bonus can of soda! I love a nice, freshly made sandwich and I love a great deal! In these days of sky high food prices, it's refreshing to find a local deli that keeps their customers in mind. I know I'll be back to try more of their sandwiches and even the breakfast specials. There are even a few tables if you want to enjoy your breakfast or lunch hot off the grill.

He was about to close up my bowl without any dressing which was odd. I told him which dressing I wanted and he said, "Dressing is an additional charge" with an annoyed tone and face. So you expect people to eat your bowls and salads with no dressing included? Even though that raised eyebrows, especially since I was never charged for dressing at other locations, I was in a rush so I just said, "that's fine". He charged it as "Extra Dressing" indicating to me that I was correct. Extra would imply additional to what's already included which would be understandable. But he closed up my bowl with no dressing at all and almost seemed offended I asked for it as if dressing on salad is foreign to him. Just an odd experience overall. Like dude, maybe you're having a bad day, but I was friendly to you so maybe don't take it out on me? Especially when it goes against Just Salads policy which explicitly states that one dressing is included in every bowl, salad or wrap. Not that I really care about a measly $.97 but his attitude and own arbitrary policies going against his own companies policies is what annoys me. So yes, I disputed the $.97 with my credit card company and got it back.
