How this hotel has less than 5 stars is mind-boggling. The service, the food, the room, and the location were all 5 stars. We had a lot of trouble finding the first winery tour we had booked, and then more trouble finding Villa Bordoni (used the wrong GPS system) so by the time we arrived, the kitchen was completely closed (and we were starving because we hadn't eaten ALL day). They allowed us to check in early and were super helpful bringing ALL of our luggage up the stairs. By the time we had freshened up and headed back downstairs, they had gone out of their way to fix us up a cheese board (cheese, salami, jam, and prosciutto) with a bottle of wine. We stayed in the "Colognole suite", on the top floor of the Villa. The room is HUGE (even by European standards), with a dining room table, living room, and separate bedroom and bathroom. The views out all of the windows of Tuscany are breath-taking. The restaurant downstairs is AMAZING (see other review on the restaurant). We ate in the restaurant one night, and ordered room service from there the next night. Just to point out again the exceptional service, the menu had changed over night and instead of telling us to google the new one, the receptionist for that day physically brought one up to the room for us. Just another example of the staff going above and beyond. The Villa is from the 17th century (bricks and ivy everywhere- just a magical feel), but has several updated amenities such as a smart tvs, toilets, and showers, etc. (However, still no elevator!!) There is a beautiful courtyard that you can eat breakfast and lunch in, and a lovely pool- all with beautiful landscaping. This property will WOW you, and I highly recommend staying here!!!

This is absolutely a slide of tuscan heaven, tucked away in the beautiful countryside. Full disclosure, my husband and I came here during the course of a private full-day wine tour so the meals were part of a tasting menu (and we didn't see the check!). So keep in mind, this is a review for the restaurant ONLY. We pulled up and couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful grounds and building. It's blissfully quiet and simply decorated with antique accents throughout your walk towards the restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately, in a beautiful private corner of the patio overlooking the pristinely manicured gardens. If it's possible, the lunch was even better that the views. We were even greeted with prosecco at the table! For starter (antipasta) we were served the Carpaccio di carne salada con verdure croccanti e riduzione d'aceto balsamico (Marinated beef carpaccio, served with crunchy vegetables & a balsamic vinegar reduction). Heavenly. Light and fresh - despite it being meat! For our Primi Piatti we had a homemade (all pasta dishes are homemade) cavatelli with bacon, tomatoes, and basil! Very good, and ate all of it, despite it being unbelievably hot outside! Our secondi was Petto d'anatra servito con barbine rosse saltate e salsa di mosto cotto (Duck breast served with sauté beetroot and grape sauce). Delicious, light, and perfectly cooked. Really surprised with how excellent it was - I don't usually like duck! (It was a beautiful dish too, I forgot to take a photo!) Finally, we had apricot cheesecake for Dolci - which was beautifully prepared and served. Light and fresh, despite it being cheesecake - it was so yummy! Each course had a wine pairing as well, and it was expertly matched - perfectly accenting each dish. The hotel property looked amazing, but I didn't really see it since we only came for lunch. I definitely recommendation for anyone looking for a beautiful lunch in a perfect location! We even met David, the owner - who was super friendly (and funny!), and very interested in pleasing his guests!

Our apartment (R) has a small kitchen, with lovely decor and furnishings. A/C worked great! I visited the animals every day :) Loved having them on property! The pool offers a stunning view. Our bartender was so friendly and attentive, making delicious cocktails. There are so many nooks and crannies to sit and read or sip wine. The included breakfast offers many choices in such a beautiful room. The restaurant on property was delicious for dinner. Marco was sommelier, waiter, piano extraordinaire (even driver). Such attention to detail! All staff was so friendly and and make you feel extra special. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Service: the staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. They are truly locals and have great recommendations for restaurants, wineries, and activities to do in Toscana. Facility: we had room 1 which was basically an entire apartment equipped with a queen size bed, large spaced bathroom, a living room and kitchen. The decor is a bit medieval with large creaking wooden doors and a dark layout. There are many areas in this huge property: 1. the many many many rows of grapes lining the whole property on your left, right, front, back, etc. 2. There's an outdoor movie theater with bean bag chairs 3. The pool area (not heated) with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. A pool bar, a jacuzzi and a small gym with free weights. 4. A sauna 5. Farm animals: sheep, goats, roosters, ducks, rabbits, turkey, peacocks, goat, and alpacas! The alpacas, by the way, are brought over to their dining area every morning to join you while you eat, so you can pet and feed them! 6. Lastly, they have a wine shop at the base of the hill prior to entering the property where you can do a quick wine tasting. All in all, the facilities were impeccable. You can wake up early and go for a strenuous hike around the property, saying hi to all of the animals as you pass by. Then, you sit down for their buffet breakfast in their beautiful glass dining area where they cook the most delicious, soft, flavorful eggs I've ever had along with the assortment of breakfast pastries. Don't forget the alpacas! After, you can relax by the pool, jumping in when the sun gets a little too hot. Stroll through the vineyards, walk into town, or drive to neighboring wineries. Whatever you do, this hotel is the perfect place to situate yourself on your vacation in Toscana!

She took us to the vineyards and down to the cellar, describing the process and answering all of our silly questions. We ended up purchasing several Classico and Reserve wines which we found are not readily available in the US. All things considered it was a great deal (11-23 Euro for the Classico and Reserve respectively). The part that kills you is shipping (65 Euro for a case of 6 and 100 Euro for a case of 12) but all things considered it's still a great deal and cheaper than buying it at a wine shop in the US if you can find it. You can also purchase the adorable glasses that have their emblem on the bottom (a hedgehog!) We got the 6pm reservation which was perfect because we had dinner afterwards a few steps away. There is an amazing ristorante next door called La Cantinetta di Rignana Ristorante (check my review - in a nutshell the food and view is excellent, a great way to end the day!).

The wild boar was great, the ravioli with ricotta and truffles to die for, and the ingredients so fresh. And the best part? Eating all of this, and drinking their rally good red wine, amongst scenery you will never forget. Green, rolling hills. Light wind rustling through the vines. Absolutely magical.
