I never got around to writing my review of this charming hotel we visited in November, when we…read moretraveled to Gdansk to see the town from which my great grandfather emigrated. (Back then it was Danzig) I have the day off today, so here comes the most delayed review I have ever posted in my history of Yelping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Radisson Blu! The hotel was a manageable size, and the staff working the front desk were warm and friendly. The location is top notch, with the main entrance just barely off the main drag in Gdansk. In fact the restaurant in the hotel has windows on the main street. Being Radisson Rewards Gold members, we were upgraded to a suite, and sweet it was! It had a separate sitting/tv area with leather couches and chairs, a large bathroom with a separate toilet area, and a separate bedroom with windows that opened for fresh air. I travel often for work and something as simple as windows that actually open is a big thing for me! The breakfast was delicious with many options from which to choose. The hostess was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time there. They had a small bar to the side of the lobby, and more than once we had to search for someone to serve us a "zimne piwo". But that wasn't such a big deal. To sum it all up, we loved this place and will hopefully return on our next trip to Poland.

The room was large and very clean. All plumbing and electrical fixtures we used during our stay functioned well. The twin beds were very comfortable. HVAC unit was quiet and kept us comfortable. In face, our room (315) was very quiet despite it being an adjoining space. We were part of a Gate1Tour, and so received complimentary breakfast. I have never seen so many fresh, and delicious breakfast options in one Hilton space before! I recommend trying breakfast at least once during your stay. You will not be disappointed. Hilton's location on the water is prime. We enjoyed some the nearby shops, sights and eateries. That said, you will enjoy Hilton's insight restaurant too should you choose to dine there. The fine dining and excellent service were top notch. I highly recommend Hilton Gdańsk.

The shower was wonderful with slate flooring throughout. I loved the Crabtree and Evelyn soaps and shampoos. It really showed a level of class to have quality throughout. The bed was so comfortable and huge! It was bigger than our California King at home. We loved our room facing the canal. What a joy to wake every morning across from the Gdansk sign, a pelican going by on the water, a boat, everything coming alive. Then late in the evening after our adventures of the day, we could enjoy the lights glimmering on the canal and comforts of being home for the night in our room. We did the breakfast plan every morning which sustained us through the day. There was such a wonderful selection including herring, lox, eggs, sausages, cereals, and breads. We were able to enjoy eating outside when we wanted not far from the canal allowing us to people watch, and take it all in. The location of this hotel is perfect. You are able to walk the canal left and right, or access town behind you. We walked everywhere, and we loved it! Everyone from the front desk to the restaurant was very welcoming, and made us feel so comfortable. I want to go back right now to my roots...to Gdansk and the Hilton.

The two stars are for the hotel itself- the smart-room and concierge were the only things that…read morewould warrant a return. The staff in this hotel were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered in a professional setting. The staff in the rooftop bar and in the restaurant genuinely seemed like they did not want our business. Both were empty and both times my family and I were dumbfounded at the lack of care to assist us. We had to ask if it was open then asked if we could switch tables in which we got a nasty "nie"- no. I will not be returning to this hotel frankly due to the less than professional staff working the hotel (save the few courteous people at the front desk). Not sure if it was the fact that we are foreigners to this country, or simply a lack of charm, but a very sad experience here. Hotel sufficed if you had no human interactions with the staff.
