Used points to get a few free days here before our Airbnb in another city. Looked great from the…read morepictures so we figured why not save. Depending on what you're looking for and your taste, you might like this place. Unfortunately we didn't. The good: Cleaners are pleasant and good. Reception is helpful and on point. Hotel is a five minute walk to the beach. Has a pharmacy and small store on site for toiletries or other needs. Offers Pool and slides, mini golf, and craft activities for kids. The not so good: Two small elevators only and one was down for pretty much half our trip. You will inevitably be waiting for an elevator and have to take the stairs. The rooms are average and had some definite signs of wear. The unit, on one occasion, smelled terribly when we returned from the beach. Smell eventually went away. On another occasion the toilet had brown soiling at the bottom (feces? Rust?) whatever it was it wasn't us. Thankfully this last bit happened the morning we left. It is pandemonium at the hotel right when you check in through to check out. So many people everywhere. Families and kids running wild and without much order or decency. I prefer a calmer setting. They offer a free breakfast buffet at el apron, the restaurant inside the hotel. It is a lot of food but it's poor quality food. Yes you will gorge yourself, but you're in Spain and there is so much more out there for just a few euros, like decent tasting coffee. Tip: get to breakfast early at 8. Around 10 it is a mess and fight wading your way through so many people gorging themselves. Think OZ. The tapas bar connected to the hotel - where you get tickets to try free tapas and beer, is quite bad. It is self service which you wouldn't know until a waiter at the restaurant comes to tell you. I'm surprised by how bad the tapas were. You'd figure they'd wow you so you would actually want to eat there for dinner. A lost opportunity for the restaurant to get business, in my opinion. The beach is a short walk away. But it is crowded with the same people at the hotel - and more. Super busy. No room to enjoy. Debris and garbage everywhere. Tips: If you care about quality and can afford it, skip the buffet breakfast. An awesome churreria is only a ten minute walk away. He's a street vendor. Find him. It is excellent. Go early. There's always a line. There is a beautiful beach a few minutes' drive away - far better than the beach by the hotel. You pay for parking (minimal) but there is more space and the beach is incredible. The water quality is better as well (denoted by the blue flag). They have photographers on site not connected to the hotel but definitely in the hotel that do pictures and sell them to you for exorbitant amounts. You will be suckered into buying. It's nice if you want a memory of the trip. I was so thrilled to get to the Airbnb by the end of our stay. I can't say we would return to this hotel. I can see how it might fit other people's needs and they'd give it five stars. It just wasn't for us.

Great Place to stay! It's close to Rota and Cadiz. This place it's a little hidden Gem.read more

Today I was overwhelmed by the kindness and professionalism of this place!…read more I was having some trouble on my trip through Portugal (gorgeous country, breathtakingly beautiful!) and I was confused and scared all day. In a last-minute attempt to find a hotel, I came here and the staff here made me feel like home! Mares Residencial saved my vacation, and gave me all the safety and comfort in the world! Thank you :)

By car, it's hard to find when you don't know where to drive, but parking on the other side of the river and then walking to the hotel worked well for us :) The welcome was very nice, our room was ready when we arrived, perfect after a long flight from Germany! The room/bathroom itself was clean and properly furnished. I really liked the old tiles in the bathroom, I didn't take a picture of them, shame on me! We only stayed two nights, for a longer stay the space in the closet may be a little too small. In the bathroom was enough space for aaaaall the products a woman needs on vacation. Our room got a balcony, sadly it wasn't a riverview room, I thought! BUT! there were road works in front of the hotel (where the river was) and so we got the quiet site of the hotel this way. I would've taken hundreds of pictures f the beautiful architecture inside if my boyfriend let me, all the wood and nice stairways! The rooftop was pretty cool too, with a few chairs and a sunbed you can enjoy the evening sun without leaving the hotel. The breakfast time is a little bit short, but we managed to get out of bed early so we could enjoy it anyway. The offer of different options at the buffet was appropiate for the low price, but you can not expect to much. At least there were PASTEIS DE NATAS, and all was well ;) The location of the hotel is perfect for discovering Tavira or taking the boat to the Ilha de Tavira. You next trip to Tavira is already plannend and surely, we will stay again here.

There are some noticeable differences between Conrad Algarve and other Conrads I've visited (Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, etc.), all of which have fantastic, over the top breakfast buffets, lovely exec lounges, wonderful spa facilities, and (daily) afternoon tea offerings. I believe the main difference boils down to resort hotel vs city hotel, bc resort hotels typically don't have an exec lounge, although some do for VIPs (if your room is located in the VIP corridor, tower, etc.) Overall, an excellent stay! Conrad Algarve opened in Sept 2012 and apparently was the first Conrad to open in Europe. After 12+ years, it appears most of the property is still very well maintained, and most (but def not all) staff were very friendly. BIG SHOUT OUT to Miguel & Jose for being super helpful in and around the lobby/front desk, and of course the lovely Claudia & Mafalda at Luoro breakfast every morning + Loro Lounge Tea Experience! Muito obrigado for the super relaxing stay! Until we meet again! =D

From the check-in process all the way to our checkout early morning on departure day, we were made to feel welcome and the hospitality was superb. The rooms are warm yet modern enough and you melt into the bed. Chats within the app were addressed within minutes, the thermal spa was a welcome amenity at the end of the day, and the overall ambiance of the entire property was just fantastic. We will really miss our stay and experience at the Conrad Algarve.
