This is a great market for fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, spices, pickles, meat, flowers, souvenirs and even beer. It's an open air market and beer garten. Everyone is friendly and they are closed Sunday. This is a must if you are visiting or living here in Munich.

This marketplace was so vibrant and fun to so around and sightsee! We had a simple but delicious lunch at Metzgerei Friedl, bought a carton of fresh strawberries, bought some honeys, chocolates, seasonings and teas around here. Everyone was pretty friendly and all the produce were so fresh!

One of the highlights of my time in Munich. I love a good outdoor market and this one is one of the best. Open everyday except Sunday, you can find everything here. Fresh flowers, meats, cheeses, baked goods and fresh baked breads, and of course beer and wine bars. There's something here for everyone and it's always fun checking out all the different booths. I walked over every morning for fresh Cappuccino at Leo's Kaffee and would pick up a pastry at one of the bakeries. In the afternoon, I would stop by the pickle guy and buy a few of the best pickles I've ever eaten. So many choices from sweet to sour, spicy and my favorite a super sour with a spicy horseradish. The long line moves quickly and if you like pickles, you must stop here.

This was easily one of my favorite farmers markets in Europe. There was a great selection of fresh produce, condiments, snacks, alcohol, tea, flowers, cheese, and more. Unfortunately, I visited during the holidays, so some stalls weren't open. One shop in particular really caught my attention--it specialized in mustard (Senf) and offered so many varieties I had never seen or even heard of before. I was excited to try everything. Prices ranged from €2 to €7 per bottle, and while I was tempted to buy several, my luggage limitations held me back. In the end, I chose two: black truffle mustard and matcha mustard. Can't wait to try them once I'm back home.

Love this place so many places to eat- there's walk ups for sausages and sandwiches and also to buy fresh fruits and flowers and coffee. I enjoy the fruit so much! There are smaller restaurants but here in Munich most require a rsvp in advance by phone call or email. I wanted to try some of the seafood places, but they were full and not accepting walk ins. Der Schorr is a big pub with restaurant and also outdoor bar area that was full all the time and very happening at night with their indoor tenting and dance music. Service is helpful and good value, but it is a farmers market so most vendors close by 8 pm. On a Friday night, we were able to walk into Eataly that borders here and get food without much waiting.

Such an awesome market!! Pretty big and full of people. It's a great spot whether you're in the mood for a full meal or just a quick snack. Tons of vendors to check out! There's a farmers market section with local tea, honey, and fresh produce AND plenty of butchers around. You'll also find lots of beer and bratwurst--classic and delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful Outdoor Market. Loved coming when it's less crowded in the mornings to fully explore, chat, and, shop at the variety of kiosks. Fun-Filled Crowded Beer Garden. When seated, nice it was to chug beers and nibble at the food from the market in the afternoons. CHEERS!

Viktualienmarkt is the famous and historic Open Air Market in Munich. It has been a bustling hub for fresh produce, local delicacies, and traditional and local Bavarian goods since its founding in 1807. The market was originally established by King Maximilian I of Bavaria as an expansion of the overcrowded market at Marienplatz. It has a 140 stalls and shops. It's overwhelming. It has fresh flowers, herbs, spices, breads, desserts, cheeses, wines, you name it, they got it. Many of the vendors have been operating their stalls for generations, passing down recipes and expertise.

Great outdoor stalls with plenty of restaurant and fresh smoothie and fruit options. Fresh market, fresh flowers. We came during the Munich Pride festival so it was crowded with plenty of vendors in tents, music, and people. I didn't like the open air smoking so no fresh air. The food is delicious but many do not have sit down options so we walked with our food. Beautiful historical buildings with lots of locals and tourists alike. Family friendly, lots of walking

This is a must-see while in Munich. There's lots of local shops carrying an array of cheeses, honey, breads (and pretzels), veggies, pickles, a cafe, and more. There's also a beer garden here with plenty of seating in the shade. Stop here to look around and stay for a bite to eat in the beer garden while you're here! There's even a maypole.

Came here during my stop in Munich and it's a must visit. The energy was lovely on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone was drinking beers and eating good food. Great value for what you pay . A must visit!

July 8, 2024 - they were closed Sunday and we went there several times to grab snacks and a meal there. It wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be. They had similar foods everywhere. Though, the fruits and vegetables to purchase were amazing to look at. The Juice Bar we got was all right. It is worth going there and is located just a walk away from the MarienPlatz. There was one place there that sold the most olives I've ever seen in my whole life anywhere in the world. At least where I've traveled. I've been to 30 countries and was very impressed. See photos.

Nice market with lots of food. But also very touristy at times. We use to cycle there and spend a bit of time while strolling
