Juliska - Charleston - Christmas 2022

Juliska - Charleston

King Street

The moment you step foot into Juliska, located at 268 King Street in the heart of historic…read moreCharleston, SC, you leave the Southern charm of the city and are transported to Europe via French florals, British country house décor, Portuguese accents and more. As you walk through the tapestry of mouth-blown glass, ceramics, home décor and jewelry, accompanied by fragrant seasonal aromas, you are taken off the streets of Kings and Queens and invited into to a world of refined taste and approachable comfort. Juliska is a journey into the realm of endless possibility; yet to truly understand the heart of this inspired brand, you need to step back to the French countryside and understand the inspiration behind the Juliska brand and reputation. If you are seeking the perfect gift registry, Juliska is your option. If you are seeking glassware or plates for your new home, Juliska is your option. Bonus: They offer workshops from flower arrangements to charcuterie.

I currently do so with the Berry and Thread, and Jardins Du Monde patterns. What I do notice is the new production of even the originals patterns are lighter in weight. I love the "heftiness" of my original now considered vintage Juliska. I understand that they may have reduced the materials in production, maybe due to cost of materials after the pandemic. You can see the foot ring on the front surface of some of the plates now. But I would be willing to pay an extra $10 dollars for the same substantial plates and bowls as the ones originally produced. The branding "Juliska" is also just stamped versus a raised appliqué, on the rear. But just as beautiful and good quality.

When I contacted the company for a return and to re-order the correct item, I was told this (copied and pasted directly from their email to me): Before you go ahead with a return, we want to make sure you're aware of the significant costs and logistics involved. Since our items are made and shipped from our manufacturing partners overseas, returning them means international shipping and customs processing, and unfortunately, those fees add up quickly. Return costs typically include: $25 to $55 USD in transport charges $28 to $72 USD in customs clearance fees These can vary depending on the weight of your parcel, but in many cases, they end up being more than the refund itself. I was under the impression that I was doing business with a US company...however, their goods are outsourced overseas. BEWARE this company!! Date of experience: 04 August 2025

My friend and I were walking down Broad Street in downtown Charleston on Sunday morning (playing…read moretourist in the hometown we've lived now for almost 30 years), and we happened upon The Boutique. From the exterior, it appeared to be a cute shop that may house potential presents for the upcoming holidays. We stopped in, and we were NOT pleasantly surprised. Although there were some items that could be purchased as gifts, the majority of them were overpriced and irrelevant for people of our demographic (young, modern, not extremely wealthy professionals). If you're looking for high end, porcelain figurines, fine bone China, or linens, you might find something here that you would like. But make sure you wear your best and have dressed the part, because as we stumbled into the store, we quickly realized we were not the clientele the store employees were looking for. We were hardly greeted by any of the women working and our every move was closely monitored as we walked through the store. Quite frankly, it was odd, and this is the primary the purpose of the current review. As we walked out of the store, my friend said, "Have a good day!" and the woman literally said, "Okay" with literally zero inflection or even fake southern charm. Those were essentially the only words spoken to us the entire time we were there (~7 minutes). I won't be returning, but I do hope others have better luck. The store has potential should the demeanors of employees improve.
