My elderly parents thought their TV was broken as there was no sound. My dad will only buy Sony products, which tend to be more expensive. On Saturday, my dad came into Video Only and spent over $700 on a new television. My husband set it up for them and brought their "broken" tv to our home. He's the "fix it" guy in the family and wanted to see if he could figure out the issue. Long, long story short, but the issue was really that my mother is too weak to operate the remote. She can't push down hard enough. When we figured this out, I called Video Only to ask about their return policy. I was very politely told that for a full refund, the TV has to be in its original packing and never been opened. If you've opened up the box, you are offered a store credit. I said thank you and was going to hang up when he asked why I wanted to bring it back. I explained to him the story and shared how sad and frustrating it can be watching your parents age and lose some of their common sense. Turns out, I was talking to Chuck, who is the store manager. Without me asking, he offered to refund the entire amount if my parents still had all the packaging. Sadly, my parents destroyed the box and packaging. Chuck didn't have to take the time to ask about why we wanted to return the TV. I think maybe he heard the stress in my voice. Maybe he's had frustration with his parents too and could relate. Whatever the reason, his care and kindness are very much appreciated. I know where we'll be shopping for our next TV. Chuck should be the poster boy of EXCELLENT customer service. read more

Had a VERY similar experience to Meri H below. Purchased an item that didn't perform satisfactorily. Took it back two days later under their 30 DAY RETURN POLICY and was refused a refund (only given an in-store credit) because I'D OPENED THE BOX! When I asked how I was supposed to decide whether I was satisfied with the product without opening the box, all I got was double-talk and the run-around. I've been fighting with these people since August '10, trying to get my money back. They won't answer my letters, didn't respond to a Better Business Bureau complaint, and gave a non-answer to the State Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection. Yikes! I cannot say enough good things about this company. I bought an open box sound bar from them and didn't think to call to ask them the reason my sound bar was fritzing out on me. In fact, I didn't call them until about five months later. I'm the best at life. Anyhow, they were still willing to help me out if I could bring in my receipt. I couldn't find it. So, Ryan, the manager, said he would dig on his end to see if he could find the original transaction. Unfortunately, he was unable to locate it (five months; remember? My fault; also remember?). However, because of the great care that was extended to me Ryan made me a customer for life. The only thing I can give them credit for is a very well planned marketing campaign. I makes you want to shop there and to trust that they are going to have good products at good prices. This of course is not the reality, that I suppose is part of what marketing is all about. Two different visits, two different salesmen tried to sell us the same low rated, off-brand television. They were worse than used car salesman, and didn't listen at all to what we said we were looking for. On the 2nd visit when I giggled and told the kid that the other guy tried really hard to sell us that tv 2 days ago, he got mad and basically told me off. Great service! :P The tags next to the televisions are carefully set up to make sure that they don't show the same information, so you can't actually compare the features of one tv to that of another. So if you don't already know the exact model and specs that you are looking for, you could be lost forever in the swamp of misinformation. read more

I've been in here a few times and not once was I ever approached by a salesperson, although it should have been obvious I needed help. The store is so poorly laid out that surely they should have noticed me roaming the isles, craning my neck, looking high and low for the DVD players and home theater receivers. Their selection of which sucks, by the way. The last and final time I was in here I was looking at flat screen TV's, thinking at least that should be something they might be able to advise me on, or at least try sell me. After all, their name IS "Video Only". Once again, no help. Also, I don't know what their radio commercials are talking about, because their prices were average at best. I never expected to end up at Video Only. I admit it: their ads make me think their only customers are Baby Boomers who don't know much about technology (no slam on Baby Boomers, by the way; I know tons of Y-ers who know nothing about technology). Also, I expected smarmy salespeople... something like a used car lot, only scarier. But when we needed to buy an audio receiver as a Christmas present, we discovered that no one in the city seemed to have what we needed. Costo is our usual electronics purveyor (hello, amazing return period!), but had nothing even remotely like what we needed. Best Buy was surprisingly helpful, but, again, they didn't have what we needed. So, off we went to Video Only, with great trepidation, anxiety, fear, terror, etc. I'm sure there are plenty more adjectives, but you get my drift. Luckily, the employee who approached us was both helpful and non-smarmy, and, even more amazingly, he had the perfect item in stock. And, best of all, the receiver was open box, so there was a serious discount. Woo hoo! Also, he kindly downloaded all the updates, which was truly above-and-beyond. Bought the extra protection, thankfully, when we had to use it on our older plasma, they sent the nicest guy out to our home to repair it, and he even showed me how to fix it should the problem arise again. Easy! They won't pressure you for the warranty, but it is well worth the money, as the repair would have cost nearly the price of the TV. Ask for Wade or Orlando! I had a great experience buying a new tv here. I got a killer deal on it, they really did live up to their "buy here or you'll be sorry" ad hype. Here's the secret, you have to haggle a little bit. I will not even pretend like I am a haggler in any way, shape, or form but the staff I had met me where I told him I could go, gave me options, didn't try to shove me into something I didn't want, was pleasant, and was readily available without being all up in my grill. The only reason they lost the 5th star was that the tv I bought was not in stock at the Hayden location and I had to drive to Beaverton to pick it up that day. In a way my fault for needing instant gratification, but I hate driving my truck out to the 'Tron unless I am heading for the coast range. Tiny violins Forest, I digress.. Overall I recommend them and if I ever decide to buy any of the products that they sell, I will go there again. read more

I purchased an LG TV recently and wasn't happy with its black uniformity so I returned it (they have a 30 return policy) and they gladly swapped it out for another one that works perfectly. Upon entering, I was Immediately bombarded by a salesman who broke free from the "pack" of sales reps hanging out near the front door. Since we were considering purchasing a TV and sound bar, I went to take a picture of one of their products to send to my Wife. The salesman that had been trying his best to sell me everything in the store, told me to put my phone away... stating; "I can't allow you to do that!" In which I replied; "Are you serious?" He finished with; "Yes, put your phone away!" At which point, I marched out of the store. You lost a sale due to your extremely poor customer service! All started out well on my trip to this store. The sales person was knowledgeable about the products (more so, then the big electronic store across the parking lot). I was looking for a new HDTV and Blu-ray system. After making a decision, we went to the register to pay, and this is where the trouble began. After paying for the items and getting a receipt, the salesperson ran off to grab my new items, when he returned he had the TV, but no Blu-ray. He said that the Blu-ray was out of stock, but they should be in on the next truck (a few days) and he would call me. I figured, no big deal, wasn't going to be able to install it for a few days anyway. 12 days later, with no call from the store, I call them to see what the status of my order was. The salesperson who answered the phone, said that they were not in yet, but that THEY would call me in it was. I got the impression from the salesperson that I was interrupting something or that he couldn't believe that he had to check on an order. I wait a few days, and then decide to stop by. I am told that they have no Blu-ray players in-stock and that it is due to the Consumer Electronic Show, and that I would be lucky to find one anywhere now. I decide to take my chances and ask for them to refund me for the item that I never received. Again we go to the register, but instead of processing my card as a refund through their credit card machine, they pull out the old school card swiper and imprint some carbon copies. I asked why not push the refund button on the credit card machine, and I am told that they have to do it this way, because they need to send it off to their corporate office. Then they tell me it will take up to 15 DAYS to get my refund (funny that they got my money the next day, but now I have to wait 2 weeks to get it back). 18 days later...still no refund on my account, I call again. They say they need to fax a form to their corporate office to find out what is going on with it, they take only my name and hang up. For a store that is supposed to sell the latest electronic equipment, their corporate office appears to be stuck in 1985 (faxes, carbon copies?) As of this review, I am still waiting for my $400 refund. I did however, walk across the parking lot to BB and was able to purchase the exact same Blu-ray system (they had stacks of them on the sales floor) for $50 less then their Don't be Sorry Prices. read more

Run from Video Only. Unfair, deceptive practices make this store a non-option. I purchased a 42-inch TV and wall mount plus an extra wall mount for my bedroom. I paid cash. The extra wall mount did not fit my TV and after waiting a week for new units to be re-stocked, I asked for a refund. They told me I had to I had to have a check mailed back to me. Funny? Nothing was posted about no cash refunds (the attorney general will also receive a complaint). Strange? I did not get to mail in a check to receive the product I purchased (so, what works for them is not extended to me.) Wade Forner, Area Manager, for Video Only has not yet replied. Just left video only and never going back. I bought a brand new 4K TV and have literally watched it about 8 hours, as it sits in my basement, and now I have a big black bar running down the middle that I can't get rid of. The TV is brand new and the only thing they can do is have a service tech come out and try to fix it. BEWARE OF THE RETURN POLICY - Because it was over 30 days after I bought it, they will not return it. I should have bought from Best Buy, as Best Buy will usually return things even over 30 days, but at least if Best Buy will not return it, they will give you in-store credit to buy other things like Christmas gifts or a computer. The sales guys at video only didn't seem to give a rip now that the sale was done. Seems like one TV was not worth losing a lifetime of future business. read more

Went to buy a new tv and audio reciever while deciding which one to buy the salesman states that he would throw in a extended waranty at no cost with the purchase of the samsung. He then proceeds to tell us that if we find a lower price they will match it. Long story short the next day we found the same tv for less same with the audio reciever, and we go in to get it price matched and they wouldnt so when we returned all the items they pointed out we were charged for the waranty and would give it to us for free to cover the difference WTF it was already sapose to part of the deal what a bunch of crooks. So yes i returned everything and will never do buisness with that company again read more

I didn't intend to go to Video Only (we were on our way to Best Buy), but after my experience, they'll have a customer for life. It was a fast easy process with a knowledgeable sales associate who was willing to give us some price breaks and they'll even recycle your old TV for you! I had some problems setting up my new TV and sound system and had called Geek Squad, but they couldn't even come to my house for another 2 weeks! So I called Video Only back to see if they had support and the sales associate guided me on the phone through troubleshooting my set up and had me up and running. (Thanks Orlando!) That saved me $179 I would have spent on Geek Squad. I wish I would have gotten our sales associate's name but I guess it was such a fast process I missed it. Thanks guys! read more

Just purchased a new receiver here. I had been shopping around quite a bit online and went to Best Buy to shop. The service at BB was almost non-existant. The equipment is not even plugged in so you can test any features. The guy helping me knew absolutely nothing about any of the receivers. Decided to try Video Only in the same parking lot. Soooo glad I went there, a salesperson Tim helped me evaluate all of the features and seriously gave great customer service all the way through the purchase, even loaded up my car!
