The first floor contains new books and the lower level contains a small room of used books. I purchased 1 new book and 1 used book. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a recommendation of a park to visit while in Sheboygan. I plan on stopping by every time I visit Sheboygan. Next time, I will bring some books to put in their little free library that is right inside their front door.

WordHaven, by definition of its name, is just that; a welcome place for writers, wordsmiths, and readers of "brick-and-mortar" books. We are a rare kind. We acknowledge technology, make great use of it, but realize our sweet spot is in its roots. That is why WordHaven is important. The cashier was very welcoming and clearly loved books from the conversations I overheard him having with customers. It took us a bit to figure out where the book's price was listed. They stamp it inside the book (usually within the first 5 pages) along with a date. I personally don't like when a bookstore writes the price using a permanent method. However, I know other people feel like it shows the book's life journey and appreciate seeing where a book came from.

The older woman told us they normally don't do book purchasing on Wednesdays, but because it was our first time there, she would make an exception. She gave us instantly $10 credit and told us she would look over the books, and we would be getting more credit due to the quality and quantity of the books. We waited in the store which mind you was not busy at all. Just 2 other people checked out while we were there for over 2 hours. We had to get going and the woman (I believe she is the manager or owner,) said to just leave the books and we would get a decent amount of credit and it would be on her account when we returned. Fast forward to July 25th my wife called to see how much credit she had gotten since we had not been there since we dropped off the books. They claimed that she didn't have any credit left. They basically stole the rest of the books from us. I guess it was our mistake not insisting that they complete the credit before we left. I mean it shouldn't take 2+ hours to find out how much credit they would give her. Sure, if they had been busy, I would be more understanding. After they called her back and told her they overpaid her for her brand-new condition hard cover books, they hung up on her when she told them she was very displeased with the situation. Not only that but they had her contact information prior to today and she found out they simply donated the ones they didn't want instead of giving them back to her. This place is not trustworthy.

Our sales person suggested we try the thrift store in the same strip mall. I found a twin/full metal frame that I wanted to buy. They were on the sales floor in a 55 gallon barrel with the top cut off. Before I could reach for it, I was told that I can't just free roam the furniture area. I saw other people (woman) looking, so I asked the woman why. She told me that fear people will switch tags. I informed her that I want to buy a twin/full metal bed frame. All the metal bed frames of that style were marked $25.00. In an effort to nice about it, I asked if she could call up the register. Then inform they it was $25. She wouldn't do that. I had to wait for a male employee to show up. He showed up 20 mins later. She watched me the entire top we waited. When he arrived, I told him I wanted to buy a twin/full bed frame. He looked at me funny. I was questioned as why I pick up it up, and take it to the register. My son pointed at the woman, and she unleashed hell on my 9 year old son. She used curse words and called us "tag switchers". In an effort to defend my son, I informed her all the ones of that style were $25. I suggested that cashiers knew they were all $25, and the woman unleashed hell on me. In an effort to avoid any further issue, I asked the male to walk us to the door of the store. I didn't want to give the woman the opportunity to say we stole something. As we walked to the door, the woman screamed at us at top of her lungs. When I saw the frames were $25, I was happy. The furniture store wanted $79.99. I would have gladly paid $25 for one. This woman thought I guilty of trying to switch tags, so I was automatically guilty. Not all white men are bad. There were a lot of museum quality pieces, and not a lot of modern trinkets. The wares included advertising, toys, furniture, and coin op. There was a friendly lady working on the day we stopped in. Check the hours before heading over as they are not open every day.
