the founder Vic, was [is] a wonderful man who started by going door to door in his truck delivering fruit throughout river heights in the 60's. [at the time Stewart, [who later, also had a retail store on Grant had the red truck, and Vic's was green]
He built a business based on personality and service.
Unfortunately his son, is arrogant, rude and doesnt understand that his customers are his lifeline. In his attemts to sound intelligent he is incredibly condescending, however due to his lack of personality and lack of people skills, he comes across as simply stupid. I asked him a question regarding why his brand of cukes, sold at Sobeys were stale , he began pontificating about 'the supply chain'.iI looked at him and although i didn't respond, my thoughts were, ...hey junior, ive forgotten more about economics than you will ever know...what a jerk....and i was spending upwards of 100 dollars per week in his store, [which should not even matter]
I was in a number of months ago when some young kid, [perhaps the owners son] was in charge and he declined to let a woman with a baby use the bathroom, which in itself is inexplicable, however she was a regular customer...he looked over at the cashier and shook his head 'no'
I have no idea who this little sh.., thinks he his, however he might want to know that his grandfather, while building the biz, had to use his customers washrooms in their houses as he was in a truck..my mom amd others always allowed him to, as this is what normal people do
The products are good in season, however they have the same substandard products as grocery stores in the winter. Their lettuce is prepackaged from Sobeys
As well, when 10 people are lined up, it maybe a good idea to open another register
It is very sad when a good man like Vic, builds a business from scratch, based on hard work and personal relationships, and then it is handed off to an arrogant, rude, man of [maybe] average intelligence with no people skills...what a shame.... read more
