Opening weekend at the farmers market today! I have been waiting impatiently all winter! Jewellery,…read morefood, clothes, art, FREE samples. Homemade, Manitoba made... There is something for everyone. No fresh veggies or fruit yet its too early, but they are selling the plants in case you want to grow your own (I'll just wait....). Got some homemade raspberry jam, some healthy all natural cookies and a gorgeous henna tattoo (see pic). Make sure to talk to the vendors because they love to share stories and tell you about their business. It felt nice that my favorite vendors remembered me even though I haven't seen them since last summer. Food trucks also park here with delicious snacks and meals. Get out and support local Manitoba products!

The St. Norbert Farmers Market is located on Pembina Highway just south of the Perimeter. One of…read morethe few areas where going beyond the Perimeter is still considered part of Winnipeg. The farmers market is open year-round, although it's considerably smaller in the winter months. While food is obviously the highlight of the market, it's also a great place for tourists if you're looking for some local souvenirs. Everything in this market is locally made and authentic, and that's ranging from food to craftsmanship. When I was there, the Red Ember food truck was also there making pizzas for hungry market goers for lunch. The parking situation can get quite hectic, although there's a direct bus from downtown to St. Norbert which you can consider. There's no free parking at the market; surrounding parking lots are either $2 or illegal to park, so do keep that in mind. It's definitely quite out of the way if you live more central or in the north, but I definitely give high praise to the farmers market here. Definitely a good enough size for this city; if you're expecting a St. Lawrence Market feel, you'll obviously leave disappointed.
