I…read morespecifically remember one shopping trip when I was very young in which my Mom was upset the the entire cost of 2 full carts of groceries exceeded $20! Don't tell your Father she pleaded.... This Fareway is an obstacle course, both inside and out. The parking lot is small and the traffic patterns are jerky and featuring Iowa drivers who only seem to be looking ahead to where they're going. It's the same situation inside, and with shopping carts swinging left, right, and around. This place is also a big social scene, especially among the Senior set. So be prepared to stop in the middle of a temporarily blocked aisle. Per Fareway's reputation, the meat counter offers a good choice and informed service. Gayle and I grilled some really great steaks from here at the Lake Cabin with our friends Meg and Ron. However, the produce selection could use some work and believe it or not, the choices at the nearby Walmart are better. At the same time, prices are competitive and it's still a pleasure to have a real person not only bag your groceries, but deliver them to your car and load them in.

Friendly smiles upon entry, plenty of carts, bathrooms near entry, clearly marked sections with big blue signs with white lettering. The grocery section has a fresh produce section as large as a regular grocery store and everything I bought was fresh. There is also a large frozen food section with an entire side of an aisle dedicated to ice cream/desserts. Only in the Midwest! The center of the store is dedicated to men's and women's clothes. I found some awesome PJs here as well as intimates for low prices. Walmart does a good job at buying and setting low prices. I found some awesome buys like men's PJ pants, women's undies, and baseball caps all at low prices under 10! The best department/experience was the Electronics. The floor manager came over and talked to me about the TVs I was looking at and helped me by explaining the difference in everyone I was looking at. Each cashier I experienced was super friendly and truly interested in knowing about my shopping experience. A+ to this store! I feel that it must be managed well to have a crew of helpful employees. Plenty of parking too!

I discovered this store when driving by and saw a good price on Chuck Roasts on their electronic billboard. We stopped and I bought a bunch of meat to freeze. Very good beef and pork so far. They have a in-store bakery, deli, small produce department, and a good selection of merchandise. Some prices are high, but like I said I come to stock up on sale items. Have been back several times. Friendly and helpful employees.

We said we weren't in a hurry and could wait, to which he rudely stated that he would not cash it because he didn't have time. Will not be back. Customer service is officially dead.

This Hy-Vee is huge by small town standards, so learning the grocery store takes a bit more time here. We found everything we needed, but it did take a little more time to figure it all out. I like that Hy-Vee Liquors is attached to the main store and that the wine and beer selection is really good. In hindsight, we over shopped, maybe because we were hungry after a long drive. Our cart did include a bag of chips which were reasonable priced. Check-out was chatty and efficient, and soon we were on our way. Touch up shopping would be done later at the Spirit Lake Hy-Vee.
