We stopped in for lunch and came away with new friends. We were just visiting this town. I had a soup, and my husband had a sandwich. The food was homecooked and felt 'cozy'. I had a chicken rice soup. While we waited for our meal, there was a wine tasting. I am not going to turn down wine! So, we met Gene and Beth. The lovely couple running this place. Gene gave us the entire run down and information on the vineyards, how these wines were organically made, and more. They were bubblies for New Years, and they were amazing. They didn't just taste some run of the mill wines, they tasted these unique, organic, inexpensive wines that were just delicious. We ended up purchasing three wines! We did not even consider buying wine. So, what I would say, stop in if you like wine and local foods. They even had cheese that his daughter makes locally in Maine. It was just a lovely experience. I came here because I've read the sandwiches are really goood. I got the hot coast beef and cheese with horseradish sauce. It was amazing. Had great flavor, the sauce was just right and not overpowering at all. Also got some macaroni salad which was equally as good. I'm generally picky when it comes to macaroni salad but they are spot on! I'll be trying this place again. Such a cute place. They have been there for 47 years I was told today. Wow! I've only been in twice. Partly because of parking and partly because I simply forget it's there. I needed lunch yesterday and there was a parking spot directly in front so I grabbed it & some lunch. I got the cranberry chicken salad wrap. Pretty sure it's Willow Tree chicken salad but I'm not complaining, I loved it. There is a great wine selection and they have wine tastings as well. Vic and Whit's is way more than a sandwich shop. Sure you can get all kinds of sandwiches, but the store is really about wine and beer. If you're looking for high end wines and beers (but not always expensive), this is where you want to go. The woman who helped me was very friendly and helpful, but all I wanted was a sandwich so it wasn't hard to help me. There's a lot to see in this store and if you wander the aisles, you're unlikely to leave empty handed. This is a really enjoyable place to spend some money while they're making your lunch and I'm sure that I'll give them many opportunities in the future. The only thing I wish they would get is a menu that I could take with me. I never know what I want until someone hands me a menu. read more

I've been here a handful of times, and I always get the same thing, the Dagwood sandwich. It is tasty, and it's the perfect thing to grab when you're on the go. I haven't tried much else as far as food, but I've stopped in here to grab a bottle of wine or some beer several times. The owners are super nice and helpful. The selection of beer and wine in this little store is pretty impressive. I've been meaning to get over here for one of their infamous wine tastings too. I think it's once a week, but I can't remember which day the week it is. There is street parking available, and typically I don't have an issue finding a spot. read more

Steak and Horseradish was excellent and the Chicken and Avocado BLT was A-OK. $2.25 for a chocolate chip cookie was a bit much and I got stuck behind a lotto ticket regular but I would recommend the sandwiches for sure. It's a wine shop too with a wine bar upstairs open after 4pm. read more

This is the type of place that I would give two separate ratings for if I could. They have a decent sandwich board and everything is always fresh, but I have had 3 or 4 sandwiches here and nothing has really blown me away. It is usually my 3rd or 4th choice behind other sandwich shops in Saco/Biddeford. I'd float them somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, a little closer to 3. My favorite has probably been the cranberry chicken salad wrap. So why does it get 5 stars? Because the rest of the place is a 7 out of 5. I'm mostly just reiterating what others have say here, but the beer and wine selection is fantastic. This is where they really excel and shine. Lots of interesting imports, local breweries and unusual oddities to explore. The wine selection seems huge and diverse, though I am not well-schooled in that area. Still, the presentation of it is impressive. It's fun to walk around the store and check it all out. They also do occasional wine testings, one of which I was lucky to stumble upon. It all adds up to a really pleasant and unique atmosphere. I should add the service here is very friendly, and the owners are very helpful and well-informed on the beer and wine they sell. read more

Typically, when I visit my staff here in Maine I take them to lunch and let them select the location. I went here today with one of my staff members and I am very happy we did. This is a small, which appear at first to be a wine and beverage shop. Toward the back where you pay, you noticed a menu with specials and then on the wall you see an additional menu of assorted sandwiches and small plate items. There is also a wealth of wines and assorted beers - both domestic, crafts, and imports. There is also several local flavored pops (they say soda here so when in Rome...) available. As you venture further into the shop you notice seating at a small bar and two or three small tables. I ordered a bowl of chili and a Reuben sandwich. I also got a strawberry soda and bag of chips. The chili was a decent little bowl of all meat product - no beans. Wonderful. I wanted to add Tabasco, but decided to enjoy the natural flavors of the ground beef and seasonings. It would be good on a chilidog as well. Very meaty, hot, and flavorful. It was very filling. My Reuben came out about a 3/4 inch tall sandwich, with thinly sliced corned beef, tasty kraut and dressing. It was perfectly grilled and provided many stings of melted cheese in each bite. I only managed to eat three bites before I could not finish. I never opened the chips and could barely finish my soda. I am happy I have basically a full meal for later. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a coffee shop once you get inside it and I am not sure they do not do that sort of business as well. I was very pleased with my meal and the ambiance. The owner I think was there and she was a sweetheart. Very accommodating and homey. Just what you would expect in a small town as this. The shop was not uppity or pretentious as some wine shops can be. I wish I were local here as I would frequent this place weekly. I will however make this a part of my permanent rotation of places to visit when I return later this year. Stop in - you'll be happy you did. read more

Great place, friendly atmosphere, I've been going there since I was a kid on my bike getting an icecream with my allowance. A few months back, after walking in to see a lady who faintly smelled of pot waiting the counter, I decided to order a sandwich anyway. I put in my order and wandered around to check out the wines, and heard a males voice from the back say the tuna wasn't the freshest but we will just add more mayo and people won't notice ! So glad I found this place! Outstanding wine selection, there is a wide variety from all over to indulge in! I'm personally a Sauvignon Blanc lover and I wanted to try something new so I asked for recommendations. The staff was very well educated about the wines and extremely helpful. I ended up trying and loving an organic, award-winning, vegan Sauvignon Blanc called The Oyster that helps rebuild Maine's oyster reefs! The sandwiches they serve are very basic and lack creativity for the price point. The size of sandwiches are horrendous for the price point. They also offer some big brand and homemade snack and dessert items, that are probably overpriced. The service is friendly and it is a comfortable store to be in and browse. Delicious fresh and well made sandwiches. The chocolate chip cookies are soft and decadent, the house made black cherry soda is unreal. Yummy hot coffee, awesome selection of wine and beer, friendly staff, unique and vintage-y feel inside. Came here for the first time today for lunch with my boyfriend and got a chicken avocado BLT and he got a Reuben. Both were perfect. Great family owned shop in downtown Saco. Turkey wrap with dressing and cranberry sauce is yummy. Nice BLT....and steak sanwhich is really good. But the star for me is the chili ....I will say, however, last time it was wayyyy too salty.....but previous two were utterly perfect....just as I like it...not all thick and gummy but, rather, more of a soupy texture....nice balance of sweet and savory...outstanding! read more

Love the food and ambiance here. This is not a fast food place, as they take care in preparing the sandwiches and food. It always comes out great. They have an outdoor courtyard to eat in which is great on a sunny day in Saco ! They have a lot of wine options that you cannot find in Hannaford or big box stores. read more

They have a lovely little fountain and garden right next door and the courtyard is a wonderful place to eat lunch outside. Great beer selection in the store.
