We passed this restaurant several times and every time it was packed so we decided to give it a try - granted, there aren't many alternatives in Biesdorf anyway, and I guess that is the reason why it was packed because it didn't quite deliver.
We ordered bruschetta for a starter and it was really good - the homemade bread was thick and dense and flavorful, and the topping was very well seasoned. For the main dish we decided on tuna pizza, scampi pizza and calzone. The scampi pizza had two larger scampi and several small shrimp - the two shriveled up scampi looked very sad and lonely on that pie. The tuna pizza was a cheese bomb and so was the calzone. I mean, I love cheese as much as the next girl but man, it was actual WORK to get through this glob of cheese. The pies had a crispy crust but my calzone was doughy and rubbery. After eating a few forks and getting a sore jaw from chewing I just scratched out all the filling and picked out the mushrooms and the egg cause they were delicious. The rest, not so much. It wasn't particularly bad, but also not great. Good thing is that the prices are really low so it doesn't hurt to only eat a third of the dish.
The service was a little slow, and they tried to charge me for a large drink although I received a small one (despite ordering large).
All in all I give it a benevolent 3 stars mainly because the bread definitely saved the entire meal. We probably won't be back. read more
