I stayed at Viajero CDMX Centro Hostel during Día de Muertos weekend. This was my first time staying at a Viajero hostel and I had a good experience but I would not stay at this location again.
Pros:
1. The rooms are clean; housekeeping cleans every day which I loved.
2. The beds are comfortable.
3. They have events such as salsa classes and a welcome drink every night around 8pm which makes it very easy to meet others.
4. I never had a problem with the wifi.
Cons
1. The dorm rooms don't have air conditioning so I didn't get good sleep any of the 3 nights I was there. I definitely do not recommend staying at this hostel during the summer.
2. The location is horrible. There's no main road directly in front of the hostel so you have to get dropped off about 2 minutes away and then walk to the door, this wouldn't be a problem if the nearby streets weren't so hectic. I talked to a few men who told me that they were uncomfortable with the location and would not stay here ever again so DEFINITELY AVOID if you are a solo-female traveler. It was so bad that I tried not to leave past sunset. Almost everything you'll want to do is in the Roma Norte/Condesa area anyways, look into staying there instead. I had to take an hour plus uber each way for almost all of the classes, museums, restaurants, bars, etc. that I visited. If it wasn't for the great people that I met here, I would've been mad at myself for this choice of hostel.
Overall, this hostel has a nice layout, great social activities, and amazing staff, but the location ruins everything. I wouldn't stay here again if I was offered to do so for free. Feeling unsafe during a trip is not my cup of tea. read more
