Prime area in Mexico City, steps away from zocalo square if you want an affordable but reliable place to stay (around 20 USD per night). I stayed here for two nights, first night in the mixed dorm room and second night in the private room. The rooms itself were clean, comfortable, and secure (really all you want and need for a hostel). The private room was very luxurious - it had its own private shower, provided with a stack of clean towels and toiletries and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, the stay was comfortable and convenient as it was in a prime location in CDMX.
My only complaint is the noise - the building itself, although very well maintained and clean, is very old and so the windows and walls are not very well insulated to block out outside noise. We could all hear music from the department store blasting (even though it is three blocks away), people slamming their car doors, honking and beeping from garbage trucks, and chatter from the street. The noise made it difficult to get a good nights rest, however the hostel does supply each person with earplugs which was a plus! However, not enough to drown out the noise for a good night of sleep.
However, the amenities and the way that the hostel is set up is very well thought out. There are community events every night such as salsa night and karaoke, making it easy to meet other travelers. They have a Kitchen in house where you can order the essentials, like nachos, quesadillas and tacos. There is also free breakfast in the mornings to get your day started. Overall, the place is very accommodating for solo travelers and group travelers alike. You will feel safe and have a clean place to sleep, which are priorities when looking for a place to stay. Highly recommend this hostel! read more
