I've been to the Ipanema via sete several times but got to check out the downtown branch with my fellow yelp elites. They have a nice space downstairs which can get a little warm when crowded deposits the air conditioner. Still, the space it well decorated with friendly art and chalkboards explaining the daily specials.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, similar to the service we found at the Ipanema branch.
They offer some tempting appetizers to start with with visuals so you can be tempted but those can be refused since it's an added cost to your bill.
The portions on the lunch menu are generous. I could barely finish half of dish. The coconut and pear drink sounds a lot better than it tastes. The Italian green apple soda looks fluorescent green and the Xingu beers come with a nice frosty glass.
Definitely save room for dessert, the brownie and the petit gateau are both delicious. It's nice because they asked if we were celebrating any thing (we were a large group) and with identification, you can get a free birthday dessert! read more
