After going thru a service entrance of the condo, up a stair, buzzing an intercom and waiting to be let in, I was finally in the missile control room of the USS Alabama. In actuality, I was meeting fellow Yelpers in a hidden away dive bar with an awesome sunset view. Running into a bunch of fellow Yelpers there, I enjoyed a Rolling Rock and Miller Lite. Most of the "crew" was decked out in green, and our very own St Patricks Lady Gaga augured a fun start to the night! Great prices too, and a decent digital jukebox - it even had Pitbull! Yes, who ever stayed there after we left got to boogie to "Hotel Room Service" While I didn't see if there were mojitos, and had left before my song played had an awesome sunset views and patriotic murals. It actually didn't matter they didn't have mojitos and that I didn't get to hear my song play. "The release of alcohol has been authorized. This is not a drill."

Originally, I can't say I was too excited to sample the grub here, but here, I was...and I needed…read moreto eat.....so I reluctantly asked for one order of conch fritters and one of the mini-burgers. Amazingly, both were not only edible, but even crossed over into the "enjoyable" category. Conch fritters were well-browned with actual inclusion of conch (difficult to come by these days). Mini burgers tasted fresh and were pleasingly crunchy by way of toasted buns and a pickle slice. There is a formidable old school-looking bar area with pool table, and drinks appear to be very cheap. This place could be difficult to find if you didn't grow up in this area. It's well removed from South Miami hustle and bustle, in a residential neighborhood. It kinda looks like a small cult compound - you'd never know a bar is back there. I'd lived relatively close to this place for a long time, and I never knew exactly what this place was all about. This won't make "Hot On Yelp" anytime soon, but for a cheap, no frills bar, it does the job. If you were looking for a truly authentic retro bar, it doesn't get much more authentic than this.
