Super unique experience in such a special place! This is Georgias well kept secret! It is amazing…read moreto study before going and it will make you appreciate it so much more when you go! In a spot the whole world is interested in and its future preservation is extremely important for future generations! The visitor center is so kid friendly and fun to explore! Coloring books a climbable treehouse, jukebox with animal sounds, large glass windows to see the swamp, an animatronic man telling stories about the swamps history etc and even a movie theater and shop! Truly a great visitor center and they're building a new one which I bet will be even bigger and better! We walked the trail to the large tower and then also walked to see the homestead! The tower hike was missing shade from the fire in 2017 but besides that it was super enjoyable. The homestead was locked up when we went but it was still super fun to walk around and peek in the windows. The adventure boat company was worth it to get out into the swamp with knowledgeable guides! Truly a remarkable special place. It's HUGE so make sure you know which entrance you need to go to. There are two and they are not close to each other haha.

Kinda hokie, old, make shift but glad we did it. A lot to see. Pack a lunch, we didn't and it was…read morebig mistake. There was no admission fee but we didn't go on the boat tour. Spent $40 at the gift shop. Every ecological system in Georgia can be seen here, that was the spectacular part. If you go on eBay you can see old postcards of how it use to be and how it changed over the years. That was cool. Wish there was more funding to make this place a gem.

Great little campground at the Okefenokee Swamp! We are camping here for 3 nights in a 30' Class A…read more The campground sites offer water, electric and a dump station. Each site is level and gravel. There is not any privacy between sites but they are not stacked on top of each other either. There is a fire pit, a picnic table, a grill and a lantern hook at each site. There are only 3 campsites on Lake Laura Walker but all of the other campsites have a view of it. There is one bathhouse for the campground and I did not go in it so I don't know how clean it is. The rest of the park is well maintained so I imagine the bathhouse would be too. The park offers a visitor center with a gift shop and ice cream and boiled peanuts for sale. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The park is about 20 mins from Waycross should you need to shop or grab a bite to eat. There are two playgrounds, a fitness area, many pavilions and picnic areas. There is also an area for Sunday Church service which starts at 9:30 am. They also offer cabins and cottages for rent and there are separate campgrounds for pioneer and group camping. They have a VERY large dog park! One side for small dogs and the other for large dogs. Each side offers a bench and a watering station. This dog park added an extra star to my overall rating! We enjoyed our stay here and were happy to find out we were only about 8 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp Park which is also highly recommended!
