York Woods is a nice little escape from all the busy streets that surround it…read more It's in a little hidden area just west of York Road. In fact, right across the road you'll find an entrance to the I88 toll road. Once you enter the parking lot, there is a large grassy area with several picnic tables. To the right, you'll see the underpass for the bike path. If you're looking for a short walk, you can just walk around the open grassy area. The path circles around it. It's a nice little picnic area if you want to stop for a quick lunch break or just sit and relax. On the left side of the circle path, there is a large covered pavilion with picnic tables. On my recent trip, I saw about a dozen deer! The restrooms are next to the pavilion. They are fancy port-a-potties that do not flush and kept quite clean. Near the entrance to the wooded part of Salt Creek trail, there is a stand that has information about when York Woods was first acquired. Here's a quick blurb from it incase you can't read the sign in my photo. "York Woods, DuPage County's first forest preserve. The 1917 purchase marked the start of efforts to protect land for the "pleasure and recreation" of county residents. And the county bought it to build a road." This is a really nice park. Although, I prefer some of the other parks along the Salt Creek Trail simply because they are actually on the creek.

They have an inside soccer field, which my son loved. The staff is also great with the kids and the lunch is provided in the fee. My teen has been treated so well as an employee -honored for their talents and respected in every way- and I can see that kindness and respect shown by the staff to each client as well. I would recommend WSSRA as a job option for anyone passionate about caring for individuals with special needs. The programming is really impressive! I would also highly recommend WSSRA to individuals with special needs and their families who are looking for high quality special rec programming!!

When I walked around today I saw a duck and what I think was a crane. And apparently I didn't even see half of the park as I didn't walk as far as the playground or paths shown in other's photos. Lots of benches scattered throughout for folks who'd like to stop and maybe just enjoy for a while.

Drew and Caroline gave an excellent tour, as they were friendly, funny and were enthusiastic about sharing the unique information about the architecture downtown. The requirements are pretty straightforward, as they teach you all you need to know and the kayaks are well kept. The tour is about 2 miles overall and 2 hours in total. A bit pricey but I would say it's more than worth it for the experience and I would rent with them again.

This was my first time using Urban Kayaks, and I definitely recommend it because it was such a smooth process and incredible experience from beginning to end! They have a safety video to watch, you put on your life jacket, they have an efficient process of getting you into the kayak, and there was a guide who came along with us. We were in a tandem kayak, which worked out well for us in the end. The starting rate is $30/hour. We would definitely do it again!

It's pretty much just a swimming pool. There is a ramp entry into the main pool which is also pretty neat for parents with babies and people with limited mobility! Very clean pool and locker rooms. There are also 2 family bathrooms/changing rooms with a shower too. We are currently taking "Starbabies" swim class at East End Pool. Check out the Elmhurst Park District catalouge. They have swim classes for all ages! Starbabies isn't really swimming...kind of more of a singing/water play class in the pool. East End Park is here too. Nice playground area and baseball diamond.

I don't think it's original to the house since they let you touch stuff which is pretty cool. I feel it gave my young son a different experience than you typically get a historical houses for this reason and because you could walk around by yourself. The animals outside were a huge hit, particularly the chickens and the pigs. Another cool thing is you can buy farm fresh eggs in the gift shop (which we did). We watched the eggs get collected and they were delicious the next morning for breakfast. They also had a variety of meat for sale from the farm, but we didn't try that this time.
