Right here in…read moreNorthwest Iowa, this little to-go spot is something truly special, offering a burst of fun and truly unique flavors that you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else around here. The folks running El Chamoyito are very friendly and welcoming, making each visit a pleasure. They offer a range of unusual treats and flavors that bring a taste of Mexican street food to our area, and it's all made fresh right when you order. Because it's made fresh expect be handed a buzzer for when it's done and be prepared to wait the appropriate amount of time for a two person kitchen. From the delicious Chamoyada Loca to the crispy Chicharrones and even the sweet crepes and pancakes, everything is spot on. They've got really fun and wild combinations like Hot Cheetos with Cheese and Tostito/Dorito Elote that just knock it out of the park flavor-wise. Tonight I had Maruchan Loca (#6) which is Maruchan Ramen topped with Doritos, corn kernels, nacho cheese, sour cream, and Jalapeño. Esquites (#4) Street Style Mexican Corn Kernel, Mayonnaise, Cotija Cheese, Tajin, Hot Sauce, served in a cup. And a Mangolada which was a mango slushie with fresh mango, tamarind, gummy worms, and I don't know what. It was just a perfect drink to match the vibe of the this place. El Chamoyito is a new true treasure, a new hot spot in town that's mixing things up and delivering great eats with a side of genuine hospitality. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for something different and delicious--each bite is a fresh adventure! You won't be disappointed.

They immediately served salsa and chips and they were also good! We were hoping that the food would also be just as good, yet unfortunately it was not to be. My husband ordered shrimp enchiladas- they were passable in taste but prepared very simple- just not what we are used to. The beans on his plate lacked flavor and were thin in consistency. My plate was a combo of taco, enchilada and chile rellano. The taco came on a separate plate and was in a store bought shell without flavor . The enchilada was lightly rolled corn tortilla around ground beef. The rellano was breaded and was served next to it. The entire plate slathered with red sauce . The rellano breading was of good texture and the chile was good but the sauce overwhelmed it. The enchilada; I could not. A very basic corn tortilla lightly rolled around ground beef. The ground beef had the consistency of - I don't want to say. I tried it yet could only stomach a bite or two. The meat had a strange flavor - perhaps out of a can? Anyway we both agreed- we would try other restaurants if we were ever in Orange city again.

I actually put my jacket on and we weren't seated right by the doors. We were by a window but so cold! Wear layers! Food: good overall! Their salsa is great and chips were fresh! Hubby got the fajita burrito and ate the entire thing! Said it was good and he enjoyed it! I got the vegetarian dinners #2 which was good! I should know not to order the tostados as the shell on the bottom is always soggy by the time I get there but overall fine! My cheese burrito was literally a giant chunk of cheese, which is totally fine by me but I guess I had been hoping for a little more! The red sauce on top was pretty oily and there was a ton of it but honestly it was still really good! One downfall, granted it was Saturday there was an extremely drunk group that was super loud. The restaurant is small and I know you can't help those situations but they had us and our baby by the checkout area and they were basically checking out the entire meal!
