It seems like there is a good group of people that work here, but I would never recommend this company to anyone after our experience. Our small 400 sq ft project was delayed for 29 weeks. We ordered it in June 2022 and finally received it in Jan 2023. To be fair, they claimed they were having issues with their onsite finishing vendor in addition to remaining issues from the pandemic (fine). Eventually that third party finishing team was replaced by a pre-finishing production in-house to be done by their team. While the floor we finally received looked beautiful--the quality of the finish we received seemed rushed and was sub-par. Our installer with 20+ years of experience was greatly disappointed by the finish quality, and it lead to many issues upon install. We now need to have another coat of finish applied to ensure its stability and longevity. Which is really unfortunate considering the cost and time it took for us to receive the floor. While they were great with communication in-between that time, we feel shorted on the final product. I also want to make future buyers aware that they expect you to know how many coats of stain/finish are applied to the samples you receive. So if you don't ask, they don't give you that information up front (deceptive?). One would assume they are picking the best finish quality for you with 30 years in the business (right?). That's what an honest company would do. Make sure you get in writing what will actually be applied to your new floor on the invoice (ours was absent in hindsight). Otherwise, you'll end up unknowingly approving the bare minimum amount of finish for your new floor based on the stained sample you received alone (even if it isn't the gold standard for finishing pine - which is 3 coats of finish min.). They claim to have used two coats of stain and two coats of finish on our soft white pine floor. The excuse? Well, "we approved" the sample/look we received. Again, the information on how many coats of stain and finish that were applied to the samples was absent. It only dictated the type of sheen and stain color. (see photo of the approved sample attached) Overall, since I don't actually have any document of what was applied to my floor in writing anywhere prior to the completion of the job--I don't know if the finish was botched during their finish team transition or the finish information I was given is false (which I only received after sending a formal complaint on behalf of my experienced installer). For anyone wondering, this is what is claimed to be in their "Londonderry" finish for their eastern white pine: - Mixture of 2-parts Waterlox Tung Oil Sealer & 1-part Minwax Golden Pecan Stain - Mixture of 2-parts Waterlox Tung Oil Sealer & 1-part Minwax Golden Pecan Stain - Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey® 3500 Matte Finish - Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey® 3500 Matte Finish You won't find this info anywhere though. But I believe in product transparency so that buyers can make informed decisions. The point I'm trying to make is, if this info doesn't exist on their website, my final invoice, on their samples (that get approved), or in any of my email communications with them, how would I have any visibility into the validity of their finish claims? In the end, the lack of transparency on this front is extremely disappointing and feels like dishonest sales practices. Especially for a customer who doesn't know the wood floor industry/best practices for floor finish...And regardless, the planks we ended up with don't match the high quality they claim to attain. read more

Fabulous products - and great people to deal with. I am just about finished remodeling my second home in 7 years - both with their floors, wide planks (7" first time, 8" now). The first was solid hickory - lots of character and today it still looks like new after 7 years. The current one is engineered and pre-finished ash - more modern and easier to install. In both cases I relied on their highly competent professional advice - I never felt they were trying to sell me, just answered questions and presented options. Any questions during installations - they were fully available and helpful. 7 years ago I dealt with Mark (the owner), this time mostly with Tim in sales and a bit with Mark (during a snowstorm when Tim couldn't make it in). All the while I felt I was treated in friendly and helpful manner. read more

This is one of the worst Companies I have ever worked with. STAY AWAY. I purchased flooring from them twice the first time the delivery was a nightmare and ended up costing me an extra $4,000. The second time it got a lot worse. They were 6 weeks late on the material and then delivered it to the location, that I paid for and then left. They refused to give me the drivers name or number, tell me where it was being stored. They basically stole the flooring I paid $41,000 for in full and would not let me pick it up. read more

We are so pleased with the service we received and the quality of the product. We needed 400 sf of flooring quickly due to a problem on our house project. We live in an 1870 farmhouse and are picky about our materials. Tim was able to work with us to provide what we needed in a beautiful quartersawn oak. Everything came on schedule and as promised. We have a lot more flooring in our house and will use them again. As an aside, we have used Carlisle in the past, but they have a much bigger infrastructure including a showroom at the D&D building. While it's a nice way for them to showcase their product, this makes their product more expensive. read more

Mark walked me through the process of choosing and installing the gorgeous end-matched walnut floor in the new addition to our vacation house in Hudson; not only was he knowledgeable and patient during my (admittedly a little wishy- washy) decision process, he worked with my contractor to ensure specifications were met, provided extra flooring for the installer, and was generally thorough, honest, and a pleasure to work with. Russ Gauthier I am a General Contractor in New York. Have contracted engineered wood flooring purchases and installations, and have many residential contractor friends who have done the same. I purchased new Ash Pre-Engineered Flooring from Vermont Plank Flooring for my recent Kitchen/ Family Room Renovation over new plywood and radiant tubed plywood. The material was shipped with a faulty tongue/groove join, and my installer milled the tongue on every piece of flooring to make it work and avoid having to ship it back (with the ok of VPF). There were cracks in the P.E. Ash material, on the edges also. A professional installer installed all of the flooring. 1/3 of the flooring ended up having long pencil cracks in it. VPF visited the house, agreed it was their problem, and committed to fixing it through replacement or installation of a humidification system, and their expense. They later emailed back and reneged on that promise, and I am stuck with cracks for life in my brand new floor. If they'd stood by their word, I'd have no problem. Things happen in construction. But the fact that they 'changed their mind,' emailed their change of mind, and leave me with a very expensive mistake, causes me to write this review, and advise you to NEVER utilize this Flooring Manufacturer, Provider in the future. This is the worst company--in just about every way I can think of. They claim to compete with Carlyle Wood Floors, but the caliber of their product is terrible. I ordered white oak engineered flooring with a pre-approved stain- SELECT GRADE planks. While the floor was being installed, the installer called me in to show me the wood--there were many rutted or badly split planks. Installer said the wood was clearly NOT select grade. I photographed a few and sent to Mark Tarmey who had sold me the wood (I sent as well as to the person responsible for processing the order). NO ONE RESPONDED with an explanation or apology. Installer did did the best he could --putting as many bad pieces as possible in closets. But even before I moved into the apartment, I saw planks where the stain didn't take and/or are damaged--in a few places in the apartment. And today I saw a couple of planks in my living room which are split. Because of the damaged wood, I did not have enough to do my second bedroom and had to go to Lumber Liquidators to get additional wood-- I was able to get solid wood (not engineered), beautifully stained, unfortunately narrower than the large planks I wanted. A better quality wood at approximately one-half the price. This cheaper wood is holding up beautifully. read more

I submitted an online quote and was never contacted by anyone. I called and left my phone number and was never contacted. I finally reached a real person but he was too busy to talk to me and said he would call me back. Have not heard back from him yet. I think this company is only interested in dealing with large $$$$$ clients. If you are a homeowner doing a small project and need a reliable company to deal with, don't waste your time with them. read more
