This is a medical racket, but we all knew this. I strongly discourage anyone from going here. They claim they have full discretion to change the orders that come from your doctor. In my case, they unilaterally decided to perform a different scan on my body without informing me or my doctor due to this "discretion". Interestingly, they charged me for the more expensive scan that my doctors ordered while performing the less expensive scan of their choosing. No one ever informed me that they were not doing the scan I paid for and that the doctors ordered until I asked a simple question that uncovered this deceit. If you go here (desperation only), be very careful. Ask a lot of questions. Double check the procedure being performed by each practitioner and technician you come in contact with, and don't go if it doesn't match what your own doctor ordered. read more

I was very apprehensive about a needed MRI due to fear of claustrophobia, which I tend to have. The staff was fabulous and were very helpful in putting me at ease. I used the Big Bore MRI not the open MRI due to imaging requirements. I was somewhat fearful, my doc prescribed Valium for the procedure which helped. Everything about the procedure was very comfortable and I was able despite my fear of claustrophobia, to be comfortable throughout the procedure. Overall the time in the MRI machine went by quicker than expected. Highly recommend Vermont Open MRI. The staff is really wonderful and experienced with high anxiety people and make the experience low stress. Scheduling was prompt and easy, location easy to get to, and cost seems very reasonable in today's insane world. Highly recommended. read more

Attentive, kind staff! Very professional atmosphere but also warm and friendly. I felt safe and listened to from start to finish.

I finally got an MRI on this shoulder/rotator cuff issue and pain. Years of on and off Physical therapy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, etc.-it was time. The office is just before the corner of Hinesburg Road and in the Kennedy Drive Professional Center. The nursing student who was the office administrative assistant was super nice and friendly. April, who did the scan, was as well. I've had MRIs in the past for other issues, so I knew what to expect, but April is very helpful and informative for anyone who may have questions prior to the procedure. It's an open MRI as the name suggest, so not full body inside a machine. It'll still be loud (they do provide you with headphones to drown out some of the noise; they'll pump in whatever Sirius XM channel you prefer) and you can have a blanket to keep warm. It was a fast and relatively painless experience. Not their fault my head is throbbing from the chronic pain in my shoulder, neck and arm. I highly recommend this center for your imaging needs. read more

Friendly, compassionate staff who made this a very pleasant and stress-free experience for me as an extremely claustrophobic patient. I did not have to wait weeks/months for an appointment as I would have from the only other open MRI facility in the area and my orthopedic provider was satisfied with the diagnostics performed. read more

* Don't miss the excerpt below from a Burlington Free Press article about why doctors don't want their patients going here.* I was lied to by the scheduling staff about an MRI order being sent to them from my doctor's office. They swore that they hadn't received it, so several days went by before they finally were forced to admit they had it. Since orders are faxed to them they should have the date and time on the transmission page, as well as the time that the referring doctor sent it on the order. When the admin person claimed she didn't know when they received it, I asked to speak to the office manager. She had the supposed 'owner' of the business - which is privately run - call me. He refused to listen to what I was trying to tell him. He lied and said that they tried to call me but got static and no voicemail, which was not possible. There was nothing on my call log and my phone was working properly on the day they claimed they called. They most likely dialed the wrong area code and gave up after one try - even though by then they knew that I was waiting on it. When I attempted to explain these things to the owner, Todd Kummer, he told me to 'find another place' just to be an Ahole. He went on to say he was going to call my doctors office to tell them they won't be seeing me, in an attempt to besmirch my reputation. I plan on making some calls myself. A jerk like this and his nasty staff shouldn't be getting business from a legitimate health care facility. I'm happy to go out of my way not to support it as well. If you're looking for efficiency in scheduling and being treated with respect, skip this place and stick with the UVM hospital. You'll get an appointment sooner and the results much quicker. Aside from their nastiness there's another important reason not to go there - From a Burlington Free Press article quoting Kummer: March 13, 2017 "Dr. Kristen Destigter, interim chairwoman of radiology at UVM Medical Center, described a significant difference between the hospital's MRI images and those produced by Vermont Open MRI. Destigter said the magnets used in UVM Medical Center's scanners are up to five times more powerful than the magnets used in Vermont Open MRI's scanner. "A larger field strength magnet may perceive subtle differences in tissues that may allow you to determine if it's cancer or not," Destigter said. Kummer says he regularly gets calls from patients whose UVM Medical Center doctors don't refer them to Vermont Open MRI. He said he also gets cancellations from patients who have appointments, but whose doctors don't want them to get their scans from Vermont Open MRI."
