We were looking for a nice small unique piece of art to remind us of our stay in Vermont. We were impressed by small clay pinch pots that were smooth as glass on the inside. The lady behind the counter asked if we had any questions and I asked about one of the small pots. Ends up she is the artist who makes them. We had a nice long conversation about her process and art in general. We were very impressed with the owner and her shop. We left with two pieces that we will cherish. I highly recommend stopping in. -Jimmy

Not only is this a gorgeous art gallery, but it's a very unique AirBnB as well! I mean, how often…read moredo you get to stay in a studio suite located INSIDE an art gallery?? I felt like I was in Night at the Museum after business hours haha!! The hostess, Lee Ann and her husband were the sweetest, most considerate hosts I've ever had!! Not only were they extremely thorough, communicative, and available, but they made me feel so welcome and at home! They even had a basket full of goodies waiting for me - including some incredible varieties of homemade muffins that were some of the best I've ever had! The suite is located just off to the side inside the actual art gallery but there's plenty of privacy - you can enter through the gallery or through your own private back door so it's totally not an issue. The suite itself was immaculate and HUGE!! Especially the bathroom!! Complete with a dining table, couch and little sink/microwave/fridge area. The WiFi worked well - no issues. And the TV even had nice cable available. But there's so much to keep you busy in the area I hardly watched it. There's a perfect porch off the suite with patio seating, a grill, and incredible views of the mountains! I was there in early October and was just a tad too early for peak fall colors - but the color was starting to come in. I imagine it's positively breathtaking at peak fall color!! And they had some hummingbird feeders outside the windows which was such a joy!! The grounds are extensive - there's a huge field outback with a river at the base of the mountains - tons of birds chirping! The gallery is also centrally located in proximity to tons of ski areas and lovely towns/cities like Montpellier, Woodstock, Killington, etc. Great location!! The suite is very handicap accessible- even the bathroom and shower - very well set up for it. Parking is in their private gravel lot outside the gallery. The art work is just lovely as well and made by the hosts - so talented!! I had such an awesome experience- can't say enough good stuff about it! I will definitely be back anytime I'm in the area!

On several occasions they have ordered items from other stores that were not in stock, and directed me to products I didn't know existed after I described a problem. I have usually been waited on within a couple of minutes. And another plus: They don't shuttle you into into a corridor packed with candy, stuffed toys, and stupid stuff to wait while your children or grandchildren start whining for what is clearly a come-on. The Ace counter is right in front of you when you come in, and they'll answer a "Where is?" question on the spot. Thanks, everyone.

Too bad that the entire staff changes often and I don't recognize any of the clerks as neighbors anymore. Yesterday I purchased a quart of Bondo and when I arrived home and opened it there was barely a pint but the charge was for a quart so I bought the same product for a bit less online and I got at least 3/4 of a quart. I have decided that using this store takes up to much of my time compared to the other hardware store in town which truly is get in and get out. Again missing the days of Bob and John and can only hope that the new management pulls the team together and I will try again in about 6 months.

We'd never heard of Durfee's, but locals tell us it's been around quite a few years and is something of an institution in this community. We browsed for about 30 minutes on both levels -- the lower level has seemingly a alf acre of shoes of all types -- and checked out the men's and women's clothing on the main level. With this large stock the aisles are a little crowded, but not a big deal. They carry a lot of well-known brands like Patagonia, Dansk, Carhartt, Nike, Brooks, etc., and in general we found their prices to be a bit below larger outlets. Looking for hoodies, for instance, we found items we had seen priced elsewhere at $49 to be $29 here. We're awfully glad we chose to stop here. And as we walked out we discovered an interesting restaurant across the street (Wooden Soldier) which we are now eager to write about as well.
