I've rented a storage unit here for the last three years. Our unit is well constructed and dry. The price is reasonable.

I have unfortunately have been a customer of this business for 8 months. Kelly, the co-owner of…read moreGreyhound Self Storage in Hibbing Minnesota, is unpleasant at best and so much worse if you have to deal with her on a regular basis. Kelly seems to think that "her unbending interest in the monetary compensation" is more important than basic customer service and even the health and safety of her fellow Minnesotans even her fellow citizens. As most of us know by now COVID-19 "aka" the Novel Coronavirus is stomping throughout most of the world. Many countries including the United States are having issues testing for the virus (not enough supply but an overwhelming demand) and also trying to have adequate access to healthcare services for the people who have already or will contract this virus. With that being said, Governor Tim Waltz of Minnesota has asked people to stay home, K-12 schooling, the movies and even your favorite stylist are off work currently. Even with a restriction on unnecessary travel currently in Minnesota (need based travel only...supplies and health issues for most Minnesotans). For some reason Kelly seems to think that I should travel to Northern Minnesota from Southeastern Oklahoma to retrieve my stuff, violating not only Minnesota's travel restrictions but the travel restrictions of Missouri, Kansas, and the shelter in place advisory from the President and CDC as well...because if I don't retrieve my stuff before the 30th of April she expects to be paid a another full month of storage fees for what will likely be 2 or 3 days. Now I'm not saying she shouldn't be paid if I am not allowed to travel until the middle of May or even June, I understand needing to run your businesses to keep money coming in. What seems over the top to me is that Kelly expects to be notified a minimum of 14 days before the next bill is due which is not really feasible but in most cases right now nearly impossible. Kelly also seems to think a late fee of close to 30% for my unit and closer to an 80% late fee for smaller units is okay and even good business. If Kelly is not given her minimum of 14 days notice before the next billing (on the 1st of every month for everyone) Kelly honestly believes that she should be able to keep the deposit of one month storage fee...in my case $75. If I could recommend anything for Kelly is would be to take customer service and business success workshops...
