So as there are not many reasons to visit Tonder, most guest in the hotel are pensioner. Only some younger couples come to Tonder, because is very easy for wedding. And then the Tonderhus is a good Choice, as the Hotel is direct opposite the Town Hall. You will find a friendly Staff and large rooms, in different buildings. During a raining week, with a lot of wind, all day and night we hear the Sound of wind blowing thru the room. The Bathroom with shower, is clean but not too big. Wifi working well in all areas. I was missing a hot water Maker in Room to make hot drinks. For a rate of more than 100 EUR (in Summer Season), i guess expect a little bit more. The breakfast was without hot Stuff, and as the prices for dinner seems in comparision to german prices to high. We prefer to find something for out on the german side (Border just 8-15 minutes away by car). So if you pass the border in Süderlügum, you should do a stop in the small Supermarktes near the old Border. You will find intersting food items to shop. As result, The Tonderhus is a good standard Hotel but nothing special!

The atmosphere is really warm and inviting with subtle lighting. The two brothers and family that run this place are welcoming and friendly. One brother is a no nonsense chef that drives his team his way and the result is home made tomato soup that beats anything I have had in 2 star Michelin establishments. The main is a choice of various classical Greek dishes or Steaks, Fish etc all cooked in a traditional way with many ingredients sourced directly from Greece....such as the Yogourt, Feta cheese, Honey, and nuts....Try the Yogourt / Honey / Nuts desert it is delicious. Friday & Saturday are nights with an excellent and varied buffet spread of Greek specialities. Monday and Wednesday are also special nights although the A La carte menu is always available. The other brother is looking after front of house and he with his wife are really very welcoming and attentive. In my view the family have established themselves in a short time as the best Greek in the area and at attractive prices. I unreservedly highly recommend this place and other diners told me that having recently like us discovered the place it is also their No1 choice . Hopefully they maintain their high standard.
