For those of you out there looking for holiday deals, Verizon may look like a great opportunity. But it's NOT without a few years worth of grief and hassle. And they will give you both in spades. The stores themselves are great visits. Helpful, kind, overly busy. The problem with Verizon is BEHIND the curtain. They don't honor the stores gimmicks and promotions. Last year, I was a grand target of that. I exchanged my iPhone 11s for 13s and 15s. It was time. And they had a great promotion going. But they didn't honor it once it was activated. And there is the trick. Once you walk out of the store with activation, you've sold your soul. This last year has been a horrible one of constant calling to Verizon and here is what you get: PHONE TREES. Then authentication texts. Then a 10 minute wait to talk to an agent who you WILL BE charged $10 for. (And that's the EASY part). Once you get to the representative they immediately tell you what you OWE them and ask if you'd make a payment. Normally the answer is no, I've paid, can you please get me to a supervisor? Here is the thing: Front line representatives CANNOT help you do anything but pay your bill or connect you to another person. 2 out of 5 times the call WILL drop and you will have to start over. So stay still and don't pace around the house. I have been connected to a " supervisor" who wasn't one too MANY times. They will waste your time and tell you what you want to hear and get you off the phone. This happened to me yesterday. I had a payment arrangement made off a bill based on the availability of a check coming in from my business. I could tell it wasn't coming that day so I called to make sure my service was secure and make a new arrangement. I first got a woman who would not work with me at all, said there is nothing she could do and told me I needed to pay everything to secure service. I asked to speak to her supervisor and the phone disconnected. I called again, waited through the phone tree, had to re-explain to a representative before they would transfer me . After 20 minutes I was connected to a supervisor named "Red". He had a Vietnamese accent. In fact 80% of the people working there do. This is an observation, not a critique. But many times I have hardships understanding them. And the women supervisors - are mean. They are there to stop you. Do as little as they can. Anyway, "Red" listened to my concerns and said not to worry. He would take care of it and gave me several more days to pay! He sent me a Verizon text message stating the date it was due. He gave me his location ID and told me to not worry about it and to have a great day. Wow. This was a good feeling and so far, only an hour of time lost. But HERE is the rub. Throughout the day I received text messages saying my payment was due. So I called back AGAIN and waited to talk to a supervisor. This time I got a representative named Gabriel in the beginning. He was kind and could see the notes Red had written and said it looks right but he couldn't figure why there was still text messages coming. So he got me to a new supervisor: get ready... Lizzie got on the phone with me and I had to explain it all for the 5th time. She said and I quote: "Upon checking, I don't see anything here from a supervisor, you will have to pay immediately" I said that not true. I have texts from a supervisor here saying different. The representative read it back to me. You are mistaken. She said there was NOTHING there. And I shouldn't have been told such things and she was sorry for the inconvenience. I couldn't believe it. And she wasn't budging. I asked to talk to HER supervisor, she said she was the top of the chain. And she wasn't going to do anything else. I thanked her for her time and hung up and called again. (You HAVE to be nice or they will flag you). After another 20 mins, I got a supervisor named "Devri". I explained everything I went through the entire day. Devri looked into it all and after 10 minutes told me that "Red" was NOT a supervisor. He had no grounds to make those texts to me and was sorry for the inconvenience. I WAS outside myself with anger. Yet, she could see all the times I had called. She knew I was a customer of 5 years. So she said she would work with me. Can I pay 70% of my bill? I said no. Not for a few days. How about 50%? $300? I said not today. She then said she would "go out on a limb" and work with me and take $200 and create a new arrangement. (This was never an option. But I do know that a company is only as good as those answering the phone.) I said fine. She did. And it bought me 5 more days, but the treatment of the customers is HORRIBLE and CROOKED. Most people wouldn't have the time to set and r deal with them. And they count on it. They are a horrible company that happens to have a monopoly going very well for them and I plan to share it to as many who will listen. They are a very very bad phone service. read more

Vern Vern, thank you Vern! I recently accidentally deleted all of my mom's phone contacts while trying to download a ringtone on her evil iPhone (whoops). We thought we messed up big. When we went to the Verizon store on W Grand River Ave we met Vern. Not only did Vern pull out all the tricks and secrets to save the day restoring my mom's contacts and notes, he found a way to save us a total of like $60 a month on our plan while adding several cools apps like Netflix and Hulu. Apple and Verizon are terrible, greedy, evil companies. But Vern, Vern is a hilarious, honest, and incredibly helpful asset of an employee. Thank you for saving us so much headache and making me hate Verizon just a little bit less Vern! read more

It is just wrong when a salesperson lies to a customer. That is what Vern did at this store. He said we would get the Netflix/Max subscriptions for free, and we did not. He was even playing it up, like aren't I a great guy for doing this for you. Buyer beware. read more

I went to this Verizon with my sister because her phone was glitching. We talked to Vern and since we were eligible for an upgrade we just got her the new phone and he started to set it up. All was going good, making small talk and I mention my major (education) and he goes on to say how I won't go anywhere with that and I'm spending all this money on college tuition just to be poor in the future. He was joking but it was still such an odd thing to say to a 20 year old girl. It made me very uncomfortable and upset and it was just overall weird. While he finished helping my sister with her new phone, he told us how to set up the new phone at home because we were there after close because they were short staffed and took so long to get us. Whatever, that was fine. Everything set up correctly for the new phone except the data which was a confusing transfer and somehow took my data. So now both phones didn't have data and we had to go to a new Verizon store (Shelby Twp.) where they very kindly fixed our problem. Every other time we have gotten new phones at Verizon they have been set up fully in store, except for with Vern. So we left this Verizon experience with two phones not working and the feeling of disrespect after his rude comments. read more

First, know to get an appointment. That really saved us when I was trying to get a new phone. We got in right when our time slot was and it seemed like everyone without an appointment had to wait for at least an hour. As for my experience, it lasted way longer than it needed to be. I went in for a very specific phone and they tried to sell me every accessory known to man. Fine, I get it, "sales". But when it came to actually giving me the phone I wanted, they obviously didn't have it in stock. Ok, it's a popular phone, I remained calm and said it was fine for it to ship to my house. However the salesperson did not have the same thought as me. I clearly gave my address, and I just got the confirmation of shipping email. And where is it shipping to? Not my house, that's for sure! Like come on man, stop focusing on small talk and start focusing on where my phone is. Note to everyone: Do it online instead. It will save you time and happiness and hopefully a call with FedEx or god forbid the Verizon store read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I have rarely encountered the kind of poor service as I did here. Actually, I cant't even call it "service" since I was completely and throughly ignored from the moment I walked in until I left 20-25 minutes later. My sister and I came in to this store about 45 minutes before they closed looking for a smartphone for me to upgrade to and for an upgrade of her phone to the latest version and we were prepared to spend money then and there since we knew what we wanted. When we walked in we saw two sales associates who were busy with other customers so we expected to wait. However not once at any time did either of them acknowledge our presence with a smile, nod, an "Ill be right with you" or anything of the sort. They just completely ignored us. Undeterred, we waited, looking at some of the new models and waiting our turn. Then, about twenty minutes after we walked in, the manager of the store came out to start closing some of the blinds on the windows. He walked right past where we were standing, closed the blinds, spoke briefly with one of the associates, walked within a few inches of us again and disappeared into the back of the store. We waited about 15 more minutes, and finally one of the associates finished with their customer. But instead of helping us, he too went into the back. We waited another 10 minutes or so hoping someone, ANYONE would give us the time of day but we were never acknowledged. Finally, we left after wasting 45 minutes on absolutely NOTHING. It's enough to make me think of dropping Verizon completely. Long story short, do NOT go to this location unless you're hoping to kill time without actually having to talk to anyone. read more

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. While initially I was greeted and checked in with a friendly employee, Dirk, I proceeded to wait about 45 minutes without anyone approaching me. The greeter was finishing up with someone, and I assumed I was next since there was not anyone else in the store. Another employee, whose name I did not catch, was walking around doing mostly nothing. And one other was behind a computer, doing God knows what. The "doing nothing walking guy" ended up taking over the greeter job, and checked in a couple behind me and then a young woman who came into the store about 25 minutes after me. However, this lady apparently "had to be somewhere", and it seemed the greeter was familiar with her, so he went ahead and allowed her to cut myself and the couple behind me to service her. Still never said a word to me, including when he approached her to make it clear he was going to allow her to cut the line, within earshot of me . And Dirk had moved on to talking to someone else who just walked in about what seemed to be billing. Needless to say, the couple left after the young lady was helped, and I left about 15 minutes after. 45 or so minutes in a store with one other customer in it when I walked in, two employees, and I received no help. DO NOT ever go to this store. Even if it's not busy, you apparently will not get service. It seems the workers are more interested in walking around and playing on their computers than servicing customers at all, let alone in the order in which they enter. read more

Please go to another store!! We had to wait for about an hour before someone got to us, and it's not that there were a lot of customers. All the while, we saw the staff chatting and passing time, not serving anyone. The sales people were unfriendly, did not answer our questions and were only interested in selling some overpriced accessories in the store for our phones. When I told the sales guy that I would like to look online for better deals, he said why don't you do it now. Then, when I showed him that there are other products which have a better rating and are cheaper, he started commenting on how I would have spent to buy my jacket etc. I have never had problems with verizon's data or voice coverage, but this store just spoilt the experience. read more

I went here because my iPhone said "searching for service" they tried to do some things in the phone settings and put a new sim card in, they did absolutely nothing for me. They didn't fix my phone and wouldn't give me a new one. They told me to go to the apple store, even though this was a problem with the actual phone service not the phone. Will never come here again, not helpful at all. read more
