Jesuit High School is a well rounded, inclusive school with excellent academics, arts and athletics. While the faith component is strong, one does not have to be Catholic to attend. Nor does one have to come from a wealthy family; 25% receive financial aid. They provide a stellar education while teaching students the importance of being a contributing member of society, taking care of themselves while also looking out for and caring about others. Community service is a graduation requirement. Students not only learn about problems Facing today's society,, they are encourage to develop and apply solutions. This should be part of every school's curriculum, imho.

He can't stop talking about school, the activities he did, and all his friends when I pick him up. The teachers, director, and Pastor Fenster are amazing and so caring! They get to know the families right away, and families are invited for chapel once a month and various events throughout the year! Also, they have a carline for drop-off and pick-up which means you don't get out of the car!! So so nice with a baby in the car! If I could give them 10 stars I would!

They helped my son build a lot of confidence and autonomy. He always come home with a smile for the most part. When we first started the first month of drop off was hard but they help him feel safe and secure. If you are like me, a worrier, I would caution you against enrolling in the Newberg location downtown. Tiffany has two location one in Dundee and one in Newberg. I wanted to enroll in the Dundee location but it was full. I am not comfortable at all with the traffic of the homeless population going threw there. If this doesn't bother you then disregard. Long term principal and teachers who are sensitive to individual needs of students while considering the whole class. My daughter goes to Kindergarten at Durham Elementary. I was probably more nervous than her about starting school and getting into the groove. The teacher has been great. The staff was welcoming and had a BBQ to introduce us to the school. The event could have been more entertaining but it served its purpose. Her father and I also attended a back-to-school night shortly after school began. I was able to learn a lot that night and sign up to volunteer. The school district cannot fund a permanent librarian at Durham so parents take turns filling in. I signed up for that and "monthly binder" duty. Durham has fantastic play equipment and a nice covered area. It is set back behind an old school house, converted to a district building in 1986. It has one of the largest Elementary School libraries in the district and every student has an IPad, even Kinders. I have really enjoyed the time we have spent in this Durham Elementary so far and I'm sure it will continue to be an exceptionally positive experience.

More troubling are repeated concerns from families regarding: Failure to consistently follow IEPs, which is not just unacceptable--it puts the district at risk of violating federal law and failing the students who need support the most Lack of oversight and accountability in athletic and youth programs, leading to disorganization, poor communication, and missed opportunities for student development Breakdowns in communication with parents, where concerns are minimized or not addressed in a timely and meaningful way Serious concerns about student safety and supervision, which must be treated as a top priority at all times At a minimum, families deserve transparency, consistency, and a district that follows through on its legal and ethical responsibilities. Right now, many parents do not feel confident that those expectations are being met. This is not about isolated incidents--it reflects a broader pattern that needs immediate attention. I urge the school board to: Conduct an independent review of IEP compliance and student support services Improve oversight and structure within athletic and extracurricular programs Establish clear communication channels and accountability measures for addressing parent concerns Provide transparency around how leadership decisions are being made and evaluated Every student deserves a safe, structured, and supportive environment. The PE classes keep you healthy with lots of creative fun and games that excitingly change through out the week. And Music that you also learn from none other than the amazing Heidi Lentz will make you get a head start in perfect vocals and lots of fun game with instruments. I think it's inappropriate for my kid's third grade teacher to tell my kid and the class that they could choose to be a boy, a girl, or a neither on any given day by holding up a number line with a boy on one side, girl on the other, and neither in the middle. The part that angers me the most is that there was no phone call or email to parents so that we can follow up with our own child. I had to find out by asking her if she knew what "gender" meant, and that's when she told me. I fought for gay rights alongside my gay brother and gay sister in the 90s and 00s, so I am not a hater. But I do believe that telling a YOUNG child they could choose to change their gender, planting that seed and confusion in their heads, knowing the psychological and physical effects including mutilation of bodies as well as hormone therapy causing horrible side effects and possibility of being sterile, is just crossing the line in my book. I asked my daughter how she felt when she heard her teacher say this, and she replied "I forgot what 1 + 1 was".

My children have been so happy at St. Francis School. They have made great friends. Here's my best example of the amazing attitude of the kids at St. Francis: I booked my 3rd grade son's birthday party for the same day as the 2 nd grade First Communion. The 3rd grade boys including my son all agreed to "have the party fast", because they wanted to be able to support their 2nd grade prayer buddies at the First Communion. The boys came to this on their own without parents involvement! The teachers have kept me informed about my children's progress over the years. They have been encouraging to the kids. Early intervention in struggling areas has led to my son earning top scores in class work and test scores. My husband and I have made lasting friendships. There are opportunities to be involved and I feel my opinion counts in the community.

I had never been to this Portland high school. But I did for a public event. This is a review of…read morethe auditorium as an event space. The auditorium is available for public rentals. The building is newer, 60's on a vast campus with more parking than most schools. The auditorium holds about 800 on the main floor and 1400 including the balcony. AV systems are up to date and the acoustics sounded good. They are easier to rent in Summer when school is out and they have their own security. Staff was solid.

All of the kids got through college and graduate school. BUT our experience was with Honors students. We have had exchange students who have been in the 'regular' classes and some of those classes are pretty sad. Not all, but some. We despair over the History curriculum in particular. The counselors are wonderful, but this is not an OES or a Jesuit, where the push to help kids get into private college is a priority. The relatively-new principal, Brian Chatard, is definitely making headway in improving the standards and pushing the school more towards responsibility and excellence. The school is solid, though not exceptional.
