I was scammed by Nicole. If you're reading this, please find an actual CPA and not a CPA…read more"candidate". Nicole was hired to clean up my books for part of 2024, 25, and 26. We had a great conversation, and she seemed capable. However, the price was unclear. My business is small with minimal transactions. Nicole initially quoted $2 per transaction, but her minimum charge would be $1,000 even if I didn't have that amount of transactions. I agreed to this. I paid a $1,500 down payment on May 20th and asked Nicole not to send me surprise billing. She promised to send me a proposal, but it was delayed until I demanded that she stop working on my books as I saw no progress. I advised her that I would find another accountant to complete the job. By then, she claimed that 2024 (7 months) was complete and that I needed to pay for the work she did, even though I never signed a contract (it was never sent until after she knew she was being replaced). Nicole has billed me an additional $4,307.50 for 7 months of work that I have no documents to show that she ever did. I have since hired someone else to complete the job, but now I'm being threatened with legal action. I also read Brandi's review and wanted to give Nicole a chance, but I regret not taking the advice above.

We paid her over 5 thousand dollars, an estimated amount of 800 dollars was for an amendment that was never completed. and 4,000 of it was paid for an "Advisory packet" that I was never given a itemized receipt or invoice for any of the charges that were coming out of that retainer. She also has not sent us a W9 or provide her EIN # to us. As a small business owner this is very damaging and has raised some cause of concerns. We were guaranteed a service and did not receive what we paid for. We feel like we were scammed out of a lot of money and we will be filling a complaint with the IRS due to suspicion of fraud and Neglect.

Roy proceeded to tackle my 2020 return, he lended his expertise on several key details as it was a year filled with multiple job positions and financial decisions. The meeting took about an hour and a half, thankfully it turns out I'm owed a return from the IRS for 2020. The details of your own finances and tax obligations will certainly differ but Roy's kindness and expertise will be something I will continue to rely on for years to come.

I deducted a star for less-than-stellar communication, but am happy with the end result and the price of $250 seems fair. Next year I will begin the process a few months earlier than I did this year. I ended up making arrangements for another firm to file my return a few days before the deadline, because I wasn't able to get in touch with Roy to get confirmation that he would be able to file the return in time. I cancelled with the other firm a day later, when Roy let me know that my return was in fact already complete. Original Review: I had an initial consultation with Roy on March 30th. He was about 15 minutes late to our appointment. He rents a small office in a shared office space. During the meeting he told me he needed me to email him our tax forms, which I did the following day. He said at the end of our initial consultation that after he received my forms via email, he would reply back with some paperwork that he would need filled out. After that I never heard from him again, despite multiple follow up emails and phone calls to both his office phone and cell phone. I even left a voicemail, which was never returned. Roy seemed knowledgeable about taxes during our brief meeting, but he has now left me in a precarious situation because I was relying on him and he unresponsive, and we are only a couple days away from the tax filing deadline. Absolutely terrible communicator. I wish he wouldn't have accepted the initial consultation since he clearly doesn't have time to service his customers.
