At this location, parking is not cheap; however, after hours, the gate is open on of the gates. This is the place for parents to get resources and support. For example: free legal clinic... They also hold meetings at various places in OC like at We Rock The Spectrum in Laguna Hills. More than anything it's a positive place. Please contact them and share this wonderful organization... ( Please note that they are a group that wants to cure autism. There's always two sides. Some likes autism the way it is and they just accept. Some look for answers. TACA does have a strong stance that a better diet and therapy can help. This group might not be for everyone, however, they provide other resources that can help parents navigate an IEP, therapies, etc etc etc)

The best part about the staff is that they don't just focus on teaching, they focus on YOU. The teachers have less students which means they can focus on students individually. Other schools have teachers which focus on the class as a student body. The teachers want to know YOU and what YOU need help on and what YOU like. It may be smaller than your average school, but makes up for it for the indivual care the teachers put into the students. It's a great cross between homeschool and school, where you have less stress and all the kids are chill and you get all the knowledge you need. It's a great low-stress alternative with social aspects to homeschool. ICA also has class 2 days a week (Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday). ICA helps kids LEARN subjects at an more appropriate pace and is great with helping each student GROW to be the best version of themselves. The office staff was so warm and welcoming, and our daughter loved picking out her supplies to create her own I Can Academy bag. Her teacher was incredibly kind and created such a positive, engaging learning atmosphere. During the class, I even heard my daughter shout, "I can read!" When it ended, she was smiling and excited to bring home new flash cards to practice blending sounds. A few days later, she had an assessment at a private school for kindergarten, which included sounding out letters and blending them. She did so well--and I couldn't believe how quickly the lessons from the academy had already made an impact. This is absolutely the place to go if you want a warm, child-first learning experience. We highly recommend it!

His communication skills are fantastic as are his abilities to relate to people and make friends. What we've come away with, now that he has been out of the school for some time, is that the administration at New Vista teaches a lot of shame. Our son apologizes and feels shame for every little thing which we did not teach him at home. Stuff happens and yet, the administration makes the student write apologies for it all whether it's warranted or not. The person at the top will literally yell at you (the parent) if you don't comply with their wishes. If you send your child here, just know you'll have to stand up for yourself and your child at all times.

My son was traumatized for years from this place. He compared it to Alcatraz and said the staff…read morelock you up in a room that give you splinters. He is so relieved to be at a different school now. It was also very clear the staff had A strong dislike for my son. They actually said they dnt think there's anything they can do to help him. I found out in our iep meeting that they weren't even giving him chance to be in the classroom everyday they would just escort him to a room where no work was done. He was disciplined essentially every morning right at the door without a fresh start opportunity to join the class. I would recommend my son says his current school has transfers from Olive Crest who share a similar experience and are so traumatized they cannot complete work in the classroom or at all. This place should be shut down.
