After a very close inspection of my bike, Willie was very patient in pointing out the most pressing safety issues, then explained what he thought should be the next steps in improving the bike. Extremely frustrating experience. Peloton scheduled a service appointment through Velofix and confirmed the window as 8-10 AM. Later, I received an email from Velofix saying the time was actually 11 AM-1 PM, but I didn't notice the change right away. On the morning of the appointment, I called Velofix to clarify, and the representative told me it was too late to adjust anything and that I should've contacted them earlier. I let it go and agreed to keep the 11-1 window, rearranging my work schedule to be available. No one showed up. At 1:30 PM, I had to call my wife to let her know, and she followed up with Velofix -- only to be told the case had been closed because the service was "out of scope." No one informed me. I was literally on the phone with them that same morning and they said nothing about not coming. This whole experience showed a complete lack of communication and disregard for people's time. I met Don when he was working on a coworker's bike in our office parking lot. He gave me his card and suggested I text him if I ever needed a tune-up for my hybrid bike. Setting up the appointment was super easy via text. Don came to my office parking lot a few minutes early. I handed over my bike and mentioned a few issues to look out for. Just over an hour later, he texted me to let me know he was done. When I got there, he listed the things he had done and let me do a quick test loop to make sure everything felt good. (It did!) I was able to pay him from my phone, as I didn't have a credit card. The cost of the tune-up was slightly higher than at the bike shops near me, but the additional cost was more than worth it for the excellent work, friendly service, and convenience of not having to drop my bike off somewhere. I was cleaning out the garage and found my bicycle that had fallen in to disuse and decided to revive it and found on Yelp Velofix of Silicon Valley. Then the fun began when the bicycle was ready and my current schedule is topsy-turvy due to a lot of personal issues. Will did such an amazing job fixing up my beater commuter bike that we had him come back and fix my son's. The gear shift was broken and replacements are not available but Will fixed it with Super Glue and it's good as new. Our bikes are so much more comfortable to ride now thanks to Will's TLC. They are actually people waiting over a month for bike repairs at bike shops right now. These people presumably have to load their bikes in/on to their cars (assuming that they're broken and unrideable) and take them to the bike shop after they wait at least a month to get said appointment. Two thumbs up for Don! Don showed up a couple minutes early and assured me that my bike could be fixed. There were just a few issues I needed resolved: squeaky break, chain rub on back tire, handle bar adjustment, and lube for the chain. He was able to do all of this within 35 minutes. He asked if I needed anything else as there was 25 minutes left for my appointment. They are reasonably priced and do service for you at the comfort of your own home. Aventon recommended me to contact them as other bike shops in the area had a 3-4 week turnaround. Since it was a brand new bike, Aventon was to reimburse me for the visit which they did. I highly recommend Velofix for bike maintenance needs. I even picked up a bottle of chain lube. I will definitely use their services in the near future! read more

Flexible and responsive staff didn't make a big deal out of fedex being late and were able to reschedule and get my bike built up within a few hours of the box showing up. Even took measurements off my old bike to get my fit 95% of the way there, and then weighed it at the end. I recently purchased a used TT bike (2016 Cervelo P5), had it built up at my LBS, and wanted to have it tuned up before the start of tri season. George showed up at my place 30 minutes ahead of schedule and worked with my bike for 3 hours, meticulously checking every part and making sure things were in working order. Upon swapping out my training wheels for my Zipps, he realized that the brake pads needed more clearance; however, he had never worked on the Magura hydraulic brake system before. He decided that it would be safest not to operate on it right then so that he could do some research, ask another mechanic, and come back another time with the appropriate knowledge (something I was more than happy to oblige with since I had accidentally bled my brakes before). George came back two days later with a new pair of carbon brake pads to replace the worn out ones he helped me install last time and adjusted my brakes with ease (he had clearly done his homework). Unfortunately, after installing the shroud that covers the rear brakes, he discovered that, probably due to some manufacturing oversight or some plastic warpage, it put pressure on the calipers and prevented them from opening all the way (evidenced by the wear marks on the inside of the shroud). He worked with the bike tirelessly for the next 4(!) hours, fine-tuning and adjusting the calipers to make sure that the brakes didn't drag and that I was comfortable with the degree of braking that I had. George had an unwavering positive attitude throughout the entire process, even when it looked like it might not be possible to fix the brake situation, and I never once felt like he was in a rush to finish up with me despite spending over 7(!!!) total hours on my bike. He genuinely cares about his clients and does an excellent job showing that. As an added bonus, he also tells awesome stories about RAAM, Furnace Creek 508, and other races he has crewed. I couldn't give a stronger recommendation for George and for Velofix as a whole. read more

Use velofix if you have an around town commuter bike that needs a minor adjustment. Don't expect this chain to be able to service high end road and mountain bikes. They say they can, but they lack the skills. An sram chain is not the same as a hyperglide chain, and putting an sram chain on a hyperglide without telling the owner, then bring surprised about the shifting problems, is malpractice. read more

I had the Gold-level tuneup done on a Specialized carbon fiber road bike. This visit started out poorly -- the online booking system apparently didn't send the appointment information to George, the technician, so 45 minutes after the appointment time, I called the toll-free number to ask what was up. Shortly thereafter, George called me to apologize, explain the problem, and offered to come right away or reschedule at my convenience. I opted to have him go ahead and come. I let him know of a couple of issues I was having with the bike, and he got to work. He did a very thorough job that took almost three hours. All issues resolved, and the bike runs smoothly and quietly now. I was particularly pleased that although I had told him that I thought I likely needed brake pads, he assured me that I had plenty of wear left and it was not necessary. Also, the only chains he had in stock for my drivetrain were expensive premium chains, which he didn't try to push on me. He just let me know that I should replace the chain soon. So, all in all, I'm very pleased. I enjoy working on my bike but sometimes it's good to have a pro really do a thorough job. I will definitely use Velofix again. read more
