Entering the tunnel from the North and South Halls of the Convention Center to the West Hall.

The Vegas Loop was created by Elon Musk's Boring Company, and currently runs between the North/Central/South halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center to the West Hall and to Resorts World. The good points are that it's free and the Teslas are all nearly new. I took advantage of this service a few times, commuting between the North Hall (a short walk from the Vegas Convention Center monorail station) to the West Hall. There was always a car available and waiting for me, drivers were all friendly and happy to talk about their Teslas, the Loop and plans for its expansion, and the ride was fast. The critical comments, at least for now are that the Vegas Loop is not well advertised and signage for it is lacking, and the hours of operation are limited. It currently stops running at 6:30 p.m. and seems to be geared primarily toward convention attendees. Once the conventions are over for the day, so is the Loop. I was attending an evening event at Resorts World and would have used the Vegas Loop to get me there from the nearest monorail station at the convention center, but it had already stopped operating for the day.

So, what's the ride like? Expect a quick, smooth trip in a Tesla Model Y or Model X, zipping through colorfully lit tunnels at up to 40 miles per hour. The system is designed to be safe during earthquakes, and it is unaffected by traffic or weather. Plus, because the cars are electric, there is no noise or exhaust. Stay tuned as this futuristic transit system expands!

    Resorts World station.

I decided to be a tourist in my home town yesterday,. After checking the Vegas Loop website, I saw they were open on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I drove to Resorts World Sunday morning. When I got to the escalators, they were blocked roped stanchions. The escalators were not running. I was about to try to find someone to ask about the Loop, but then I noticed the elevator in the back of the hall. I pressed the button, the door opened, and shortly I was at the Vegas Loop one floor below. There were four cars there. I took the time to check out the station and take some photos. I went to the wall where you scan the QR code to buy your ticket. It was $4.50 and good for the day. You receive a code for your phone that you can save as a photo or have it emailed or sent as a text to you. There was a woman working who told me to cross the road. To enter, you hold your phone above a reader so it scans your code. She then took me to the first car and told the driver to go to the Riviera "stop." She knew I was a local just sightseeing and there was nothing in the Convention Center. The driver covered the distance quickly. At the Riviera stop we made a U turn and went back to Resorts World. This is not a station. It's a stopping point much like a rail siding to wait for others to go through. Once back to Resorts World, the driver told me how to open the door and my visit ended. I can see how this would be a convenient way to get to the Convention Center if you were attending a show. When I used to go to the CES Show, I parked at the Sahara and took the monorail. I can see how much more convenient this would be. A small amount more expensive than the monorail but worth it. I look forward to additions to the Loop which have been in the news. It would be great to have a "subway" without destroying the Strip.
