So wow, Veganz is pretty rad. Especially considering I'm a recent transplant from sunny, vegancentric California, it's a bit of a godsend. It opened just one week ago and boasts a bakery/cafe (with frozen yogurt, breads, sandwiches and desserts) as well as a small but well-stocked grocery store. There are a lot of German products (which made finding what I need somewhat challenging, but in a good way...) but also many of my favourite, well-known American products (Daiya, Tofurkey). The prices are - compared to most German supermarkets - pretty high. But compared to the cost of a veg grocery store in the states (like Whole Foods), it's about on par. The staff is small but awesome, and it didn't hurt that Melisser makes amazing cupcakes...nor did I mind that I was assisted by an incredibly adorable fellow in-store. While it's a bit of a trek time-wise to get out here for shopping, I will definitely come back at least semi-regularly. read more

The location in Friedrichshain is supposed to be quite a bit larger, but this location seems to have just as many options. I can't comment on the adjacent restaurant because I was only popping in to pick up a few things to take home in my suitcase, so I imagine folks in the neighborhood who shop here more often will have more accurate critiques to share, but as a one time visitors living in a city with no comparable shopping opportunity, I'm quite thoroughly impressed read more

This is the future! So wish there were a place like this near where I live. Friendly staff (thank you for speaking English). Stocked up on some goods in the store (credit cards accepted) and had a delicious lentil-coconut soup from the cafe. Apparently there is a vegan shoe store right next door and I totally missed it. Veganz is like a little vegan heaven hidden away of the buzzing main streets of Prenzlauerberg. I am really fond of this place, as they offer an amazing variety of vegan food options if you looking for fresh or frozen, sweet or savory bread spreads, cleaning products or cosmetics they just have it all. Moreover do they pretty much label all their shelves and price tags for ingredients as NF, GF, etc. They still don't have that much glutenfree products as I would wish for however they do have gf/vegan bbq sausages and bean burgers which I have been looking all over Berlin in various organic shops and never found gf ones so this defo make up for their not offering more GF items through the shop and they deserve the 5 star ranking as its just summer bbq season ahead ;) read more

The place to be for vegan goodies! Lots of choice in snacks and frozen burgers/ice cream etc. The only thing I didn't understand was that they sell cosmetics that are not cruelty free such as Lavera. Lavera sells in China where the products are tested on animals, so they're no longer vegan. So if they'd replace this brand then every product in this store is actually vegan, which is great for vegans as they will no longer have to read labels to check if something contains animal products. Now I wish they open a location in The Netherlands... read more

Coolest supermarket for any vegan to ever have lived. I was in vegan food heaven and would consider moving to Berlin solely for veganz. They have an amazing range of products, both fresh produce, packaged and cosmetics and pretty much have anything a vegan could want! Loved this place so much. This is my local Veganz market. It's in a convenient location accessible by major public transportation (U2, Ring-Bahn, M1 Tram) just off the shopping High Street (Schonhauser Allee) of trendy Prenzlauer Berg. They are an exclusively vegan grocery offering a variety of products including dry goods, canned goods, frozen goods, unpackaged bulk goods, ethnic ingredients, pet food, personal care products and cosmetics, beverages (including beer and wine), household products, etc. - all vegan! They always bring in new products, German and non-German, and set up tasting stations around the store to help introduce people to the products that they sell.The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices (when comparing prices between the exact same items) are on par with the average Bio Markt (organic grocery store) and in many cases even more affordable (I often avoid buying certain things at the Bio Markt, Reformhaus (the German version of the old-fashioned healthfood store) or at the supermarket, because I know I can get them cheaper at Veganz). They often have specials and clearance on items that are drawing near to their "Sell By Date" (especially in the refrigerator section) - I love that and make good use of it! They even have their own line or "house brand" that is also moderately priced (where else can you find 100 grams of -extra tasty both in flavour and texture- vegan gummybears for 1,29 EUR?). Kaiser's Supermarkt and Netto Marken-Discount have special sections where they sell the products they get from Veganz with the Veganz logo hung overhead; and there is such a section at Rewe without the Veganz logo. I have only been to this one and the one in Friedrichshain. The only differences I noticed were that the Friedrichshain location had a bigger produce section, more outside seating and a larger freezer section; and the extra seating for the Goodies café is upstairs instead of next door. I've never been to the brunch, but it always sounds enticing with it being prepared by recognised vegan chefs and offering creative dishes. This place is a godsend! read more

I would give this place 5 stars if the lady behind the counter in the Cafe part of Veganz had been a little nicer. You have to go out the front door, and walk two doors down to get to their Sunday Brunch, so that is good to know before you get there and wonder where everything is lol. They should have a sign explaining how it works, to avoid confusion and save time for everyone. The Chef's at their Sunday Brunch are fantastic! I am also a trained vegan chef, so it is nice for once to go out and have someone else make me some fun and innovative raw and vegan delicacies! Super fun! Plus the price is very reasonable, less that 17€ for all you can eat Brunch and a warm drink! It is definitely worth the splurge, especially if you are a vegan and even if you are not. My favorite thing about it was that the Chef's kept putting out different little raw vegan delicacies every 5-10 min, like raw vegan sushi, or golden flax wraps with a rich and creamy filling.
