A simple place where you can get a decent beer (if you can't stand the usual horsepiss pilsner that are widely available here) and can still hold proper conversation with your friend without the dunk-dunk-dunk techno music whatever that they play these days. The place is not huge, but super cozy and the interior is well thought out, together with the music it creates a bit of a Great Gatsby vibe. It fits in well with the style of the other restaurants - as we walked in, we briefly asked ourselves if we'd taken the wrong door and instead walked into Alabama Social! The cocktail menu is short, but exclusive - you have your classics (Aviation, Old Fashioned, and the likes) - the only thing that was a bit off for me was the Piña Colada on the menu, but hey, I guess it's a popular drink. Could be interesting to try when it's not served in a 0,5l glass with tons of fruit on it. With our cocktails, we were served water, which many, but not all, good bars do. As they had a happy hour thing going on, we ordered two of their signature drinks for the price of one. First, we tried No 9, with Japanese bourbon, genmaicha popcorn tea, white pepper, and lemon curd. Yes, it was a good as that sounds! She made some exceptions and took initiative that meant a lot to us and added to making the night a succes and the bride-to-be a very happy lady! I expected upfront that we would visit quite some bars that evening, but we actually had such a good time at Francis Pony that we stayed there for most of the night. The atmosphere was really chill, the bartenders were friendly and quick, the music was good, we had a nice lounge seat to fit our whole group (thanks to Michelle), enough people to make it crowded in a good way, but not too full that it would be uncomfortable. Also the crowd that visited Francis Pony, that we encountered that evening, were very nice and open. It was possible to dance (we did at some point), although most people there didn't go for that. Let me think of some flaws, before I don't sound credible anymore ;) .... Well if I have to say SOMETHING then maybe that there is just one toilet for the ladies, but I never had to wait, so I wouldn't consider it a con myself.
