Mark Hurrell, I am happy you are able to see me as a new patient. Your quick wit and ability to…read moresee my problems with my employer. It made me feel so much better. My Manager is always making me feel inadequate and I do not do a good job. Now, I have been to you for 3 sessions and have seen my relationship improve with my Manager. He is now putting me in charge of other work projects. Thank you for helping me more assertive as an employee in the Workplace. You are the best Therapist I have talked to in years. I will recommend you to my work friends too. Mr. Watkins

Psychologist Mark Hurrell the silver lining in a gloomy moment…read more After long and bumpy proceedings the ineptitude of the Public Defender enabled, the pro temp judge, to find me guilty. Sentence called for probation and 52 sessions of counseling. I enrolled with one of the "accepted" counselors by the Probation Department. 2 sessions later I saw that there was no "real" counseling at all. Group sessions of 20 of more consisted of an hour and a half of disparaging comments about every member of the group and the offenses that brought them there. This counselor (Mr. R) relished in instilling fear into the minds of those he was supposed to help. Fear does not lead to understanding. If one objected to such treatment the "counselor would threaten with imprisonment. This counselor's MO is designed to steer the group into apparent verbal misconduct to make them take a polygraph test costing $300. The test is administered by a pal of the counselor's. Not to take the test leads to be reported as a violation to further complicate the situation of the person. I was able to get out of that group and "counselor" and began my quest for a real counselor. After 2 weeks of research I found Mr. Mark Hurrell. Mr. Hurrell treats each person on a one on one basis, if that is what the patient wants. The most obvious trait of his professional practice is the true will to know the patient better. Previous "Counselor" Mr. R. did not even ask me anything about me, my life or why I was there. I was a captive person who paid a fee every week, as the 20 others did. Mr. Mark Hurrell has shown compassion, understanding and a marked purpose to help improve the patient's life and behavior. He is clear in his advice and patiently listens to all problems and issues relayed to him. From the bitterness of feeling a pawn manipulated by the previous "counselor" as a source of profit and in turn also benefiting his pal/polygrapher, I began to understand and grasp what I should do to improve my life. From the despair of feeling I was under the massive wheel of a system allegedly designed to help I entered a new zone of hope and clear purpose. Instead of demoralizing and mockery that "counselor" Mr. R displayed in the 10 sessions I endured with him, Mark Hurrell reassured me that I was not a derelict and that I had a positive potential. Mr. Mark Hurrell's compassion, understanding and consistent professionalism has helped me navigate this chapter of my life, making it better. R.K.
