He was absolutely wonderful! Having some orthodontic background, I was so pleased that he and I were on the same page regarding her treatment! This office was incredible-from the moment we walked in the door. From the personable front desk staff to the awesome treatment coordinator and onto the chair-side assistants, I have never been more comfortable and admiring of the level of care and expertise that was shown to us! My granddaughter who has been fairly complicated patient, left there saying it was the best experience! All were so relaxed, gentle, and pleasant and she felt no stress or anxiety in the hands of this office. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for expert orthodontic care and results. On November 23, 2020 I called Richmond Hill Family and Cosmetic Dentistry about a tooth that has…read morebeen causing me trouble for quite some time. The receptionist quickly picked up and greeted me in a courteous manner. They were able to get me an appointment for the very next day with Dr. Carlos. Upon arrival the waiting area was clear of people, clean, and comfortable. There was one easy to read sign on the door explaining that they require face mask and they had sanitation stations throughout the practice. The receptionist greeted me in a welcoming and upbeat manner--she also took my temperature and asked me a sort list of qualifying COVID questions. I believe this practice has adapted well to business in a post-covid world and I think the reason the waiting area was so empty was an active effort to space appointment times to ensure social distancing. The medical staff called me back very quickly after my arrival and I didn't have mountains of cumbersome paper work they had taken care of everything. Dr. Carlos was great! He identified the problem with my tooth that required a filing and got to work right away. His Novocain injections were painless. My tooth was fixed in no time with no complications. Dr. Carlos worked very efficiently and put me at ease with his fun at ease style. At check out they already adjusted my insurance and I only had to pay $65. They also seamlessly scheduled my next cleaning right then and there. Thank you Dr. Carlos for fixing my hurt tooth and gums--I definitely recommend this practice.

My 13-year-old daughter has been a patient since she was two years old and I cannot believe the way things have been handled with their office over the past two or three years. I'm not sure if there's been a change in management behind the scenes, but there has been a total breakdown in communication over the past few years. Several years ago I had an issue with a miscommunication on their end about an appointment that my daughter had. With her most recent appointment we had a change of insurance. Dogwood called me two days prior to confirm the appointment. At that time, I provided them with our new insurance information and was told that they would check to confirm that her specific plan was accepted and would let me know 24 hours beforehand if it was not. Well, lo and behold today, I get a phone call informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When IWell, low and behold today, I get a phone call, informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When I informed the person that I spoke with on the phone of the fact that I was told that this wouldn't happen because I would get a phone call from them. She had the nerve to tell me that that was just a courtesy. In hindsight, I should have called and confirmed with our insurance, but Dogwood should've held up their end of what was communicated to me. Apparently this is an ongoing issue for them after reading through these reviews. So past issues like mine were not learning situations for dog with. They continue to tell their patients that they will check their insurance so they don't receive hefty bills and then they continue to let their patients get hefty bills. If dogwood doesn't want to accept any responsibility for this, then they shouldn't be telling their patients that they will check their insurance and call them 24 hours prior. I am so disappointed in receiving that bill and that phone call. Dogwood will not see a single scent from us for this bill. I would've stayed with Dogwood for the rest of my daughter's childhood if it was not for this incident.
