One guy would be there for three days and then someone new would show up and have no clue what the last guy did. One of the employees painted the bathroom walls without even wiping the walls down after sanding. What a mess and it had to all be redone, which I am sure would not have happened if I did not complain. At one point, I had to tell the project manager that I did not want anyone in my home until I met with him. The lack of craftsmanship, and integrity was upsetting to say the least. Who puts kitchen cabinets in before painting??? Once the job was complete, it took Vaz Construction another month to come back and finish the things that were not completed. Overall the experience was very disappointing, even more-so with the amount of money they charged us for their sub par work.

Calls were responded to quickly by Drew Cazault. Ciaran, the Project Manager was on site and knowledgeably explained the roofing process and answer any concerns I had. He also checked in regularly with the crew. Fernando, the Foreman of the crew, should be very proud of his team. They are very skilled and have a remarkable work ethic. They ensured the yard around the garage was protected. They also tarped the interior of the garage and at the end of the day there was no sign they had ever been here. Drew made a follow up visit the following day to check that everything was as I expected. I can confidently recommend them.

I contracted Couto Construction last month for a massive exterior renovation project: we updated to…read morenew vinyl/PVC siding and changed the color from white to blue as well as work done to the soffit, etc. Every aspect of the job went smooth from the initial assessments with Corey, dealing with Mariana in the project department for payments and with the project managers (César and after the first week, Brian). Their construction team was top notch, professional and very pleasant to deal with. They were consistently on time and gave the highest attention to detail and quality. Any questions we had were immediately answered either in person, by phone or through their group chat. Before work began they dropped off the dumpster and porta potty: living in a city, I was concerned space would be an issue but they placed everything with no issue and without blocking traffic. The crew stayed into the evening each work day and ensured that the work area and the surrounding sidewalk were clear of any debris and stray nails while their supplies were kept tidy and off the walkways. Brian and the crew did an exceptional job and the finished product surpassed my expectations. Financially, they were very reasonable and willing to work with us- especially seeing the end result, the cost was a value. They are fully licensed and insured (which is a rarity these days dealing with contractors). I would not hesitate to contract them again for any further projects and would fully recommend them. A hearty thanks to Brian and crew.

When I first used Couto (actually I used them 3 times for roof projects to where they replaced it…read moreall) I was very pleased with their service and workmanship. I was also impressed that they gave a 10 year warranty on their work. Unfortunately, when you need to call on them to honor their warranty things go badly very quickly. I was selling my house and as a part of that process the buyer's inspector got on the roof in May 2025. He took a picture of what was essentially a swimming pool on my roof. The water wasn't draining. Interestingly, Couto was already aware of the issue because they told me about it when they did the last roof job in March 2025. But despite me calling several times to see when they would fix the issue, they just put me off and never came. With the impending sale and the swimming pool on my flat roof, I called in for emergency assistance. They literally kept telling me they were coming out the next day for weeks. It took them a month to finally get around to dealing with my emergency, and that was after my almost daily calls, emails and text messages. I tried to get one of the Couto brothers to speak with me but apparently they couldn't be bothered with it. The moral to the story is they are great for initial work, but don't count on them to come through in a timely manner when you need them for warranty work.

Not the cheapest roofer, but definitely the most professional I encountered. No pressure to sign on the spot. My roof was 28 squares--a big boy. That was a red flag so I threw his quote in the trash. The third was comparable in price with Sousa and the other, but the sales guy was not so friendly. Like I owed him for his time. Maybe because he saw me as an elder so he felt he could try to take advantage of me, not sure. First off Sousa wasn't the cheapest and frankly about $800 more than the other roofing contractor. The reason I chose Sousa was because they gave me their cost up front, with a very detailed proposal listing everything even with costs up front in case I need to replace plywood etc., and didn't try to haggle me with extras. I did ask if they could take some money off, and they agreed to discount 300 bucks. Still a few hundred more than the other roofer but my gut was telling me lean towards Sousa. There was no start high, then sell me this and that, we have the Cadillac version, we have this version. Just give me a damn quote that tells me what I get and how much. So something didn't sit right with me, so I went with Sousa. Gave them my word over the phone. The next day I met with the owner and we signed the contract and scheduled my roof install. Within six days I had materials delivered, crew showed up at 7am and a new roof installed by 5pm and everything cleaned up. The owner set his guys up in the morning, then popped by again a few hours later and we chatted for a good hour about everything but the roof. What a fine young man he is. Very down to earth and good person. I'm happy with my roof. We have had a lot rain since and no issues so far. My son who lives in Plainville also needs a new roof and has already signed up Sousa to do the work at the end of June. I highly recommend Sousa Roofing and would use them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a roofer. God Bless.

We knew the game, add in lots of extras so he can spend hours at your home taking extras out to reduce the price to make it look like you're getting a deal. You are right in that we cancelled the follow up meeting - we were told we would receive a 'report' a couple of days after the initial meet - that didn't materialize so we asked to cancel the follow up and just get the quote. As for the add-ons - my husband SPECIFICALLY said we did not want gutters as ours were not that old - Alex added in new gutters, downspouts, leaf guards - why do that when you have been told we did not want them.
