A BIG MERRY CHRISTMAS to the parts depart at Varsity Chrysler I would like to let people know just how great the parts department is! so I ordered a part in for my vehicle on December 22, 2021. I asked the parts guy 3 time to make sure my part would be in for the 23 of December. I was told it would be. On the 23th I went to go pick up the part I needed and was told that there has been an error on the order. So a little mad at the fact they didn't bother to call me to let me know this piece of information. So I'm told by the guy behind the parts counter, my part will be here on the 24 and he will deliver the part directly to me. I run over to Varsity Chrysler in the morning of the 24th to see if my part is in yet. To my Shock they are closed. Bought a 2019 Jetta here. The finance guy walked us through everything. HE was great. The actual sales guy spent less than 5 mins with us and looked annoyed when I walked around to inspect the Cecile and commented on a dent under the passenger door. Varsity claimed that they redid the brakes before we bought the car. We have had the car for 6 months in total and there have been nothing but issues with the brakes, beginning just two months after we took the car home. Varsity originally told us they would stand by their brake repair job and to bring it back if there any issues. But oh no. When the brakes began making horrible grinding noises just 3 months after we bought the car they refused to even speak to me on the phone and claimed they would NOT stand by their work. When I asked them to review my file because they claimed they did in fact do a full repair on the brakes and would stand by their work for the first six months, I was told "we will call you back". I have not heard from them since then. It's now the end of December and I can't get them to return a phone call or email. And the brakes have gotten to the point where we can't even drive the damned car. Will NEVER buy a car here again. SO unhappy!!! read more

This is a - 10 (minus 10) rating and review. Cathy from pre-owned division saw my advertisement in Autotrader and/or Kijiji and asked us to come in for an appraisal. When asked if she could provide a virtual appraisal range on sharing my VIN, she said, she needed to see the vehicle. Arranaged an appointment to drive on a cold, snowy afternoon, just to realise that no one even bothered to inspect the vehicle. She just asked for VIN and other details (which could have very well been handled on phone). She finally asked what I am expecting for the car (which is already mentioned in the ad) and said her "appraisal value is far less". When asked for a value, she never responded. How come this business have the audacity to mis treat people and their time. DO NOT EVER GO TO THEM!!! read more

JEEP BUYERS BEWARE: This dealership will deny the warranty you're entitled to. I have bought brand new Jeeps for the last 21 years, and I will NOT be purchasing Jeep in the future. I would advise you to choose a vehicle brand that is NOT FIAT (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge) to save you from the nightmare that the Jeep and other Fiat brands will cause you! They misdiagnosed my Jeep Gladiator problem, blaming it on pinion bearings that would not be covered by warranty due to modifications causing wear and tear on the part. I took it to a different mechanic shop, and they informed me that the pinion bearings are completely fine and not damaged at all. The true problem is the back side gears (a known and VERY common problem in Jeep Wranglers & Gladiators). Side gears would NOT be affected by the modifications, and, according to the owners manual: "Modifications do not void warranty unless they cause damage to the part needing replacement." It seems like quite the scam for the Jeep service department to be 'misdiagnosing' a problem not covered by warranty, and not reporting/admitting the true problem, which would be covered by warranty. They are also the only major car dealership in Canada to withdraw from CAMVAP, which is a company that helps mitigate warranty issues. Steer clear of the Jeep and Fiat brands if you want to save yourself stress when it comes time to collect on warranty!! read more

I schedule my Caravan and told they I had a problem with transmission when shifting from R to N or N to D . It's banging. First call from they and they told me nothing wrong. I told them again , check the oil , tested , do something because is not normal. They told again is normal . How you can be so idiot to tell me is normal ! I choose another Dealer to take care about this problem which seems to be common issue with the valve body or accumulator. How you can name this guys professional and give 5 star. I bought a new Gladiator from Varsity in Nov of 2020. On the drive home I reached 70 kph, I noticed the rear diff making noise. The vehicle had 48 km on it. I went back a couple weeks later, at 2500 km, told them the noise occurred at 68 km to 76km, and a mechanic took it out onto deerfoot, and said he couldnt hear any noise. I then went back a month later, and took the service manage fora drive, and he heard the noise right away. We booked an appointment, but then covid hit, and I didnt want to take a chance on getting affected. Finally in late Aug of 2022, I called to make an appointment, and explained how the previous mechanic, could not hear the problem, and noted my concern about the quality of the mechanic. They took exception, and Amber (a service advisor) decided to refuse me an appointment to have my vehicle repaired, and would not call me back for an appointment date. 3 weeks later I called the service manager (who was new) and he said to come in on a Tuesday morning and the shop foreman would go with me for a test drive. I waited over 30 minutes, and nobody showed up, so I left. Later when I called him to ask what was going on. he said the foreman got busy, and could not me at the 8:30 appointment he made with me. I asked why he didnt just tell me when I got there, but he just ignored this, and said he didnt have time for me, and hung up. I called Jeep Canada, and they suggested I take it to Cochrane Jeep (I live in Cochrane), and they verified the issue, and got the Gladiator repaired, by completely rebuilding the rear diff. I have been a customer at Varsity for over 20 years, buying 5 new vehicles from them, and was appalled with the behavior of these people. I called the store manager, but he refused to call me back. This behavior of the staff at Varsity horrible, from the top down. This used to be a good dealership, but clearly has become so grossly mismanaged, its the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. read more

Sales person was dishonest and actually removed and changed part of the deal without informing me when he presented the final contract. The change cost me around $800, which on a purchase of a car worth much more than that may seem trivial- it isn't. The manager only cared about his bottom line and provided to customer support and did nothing to rectify the problem even though there was proof from the original. They clearly felt they could do what they wanted and that the customer was unimportant and just a means to give them money. The maintenance prices and costs for repairs are 30% to 60% and more costly over comparable qualified repair ships. If they were that much better trained than mechanics at other garages that might be tolerable for the gouging, however some of these incompetent and poorly trained mechanics can't even count- after changing over winter tires they only put 3 tires back in my car instead of the 4 I obviously came in with, they put the tires dirty and muddy on the car seats too- which goes to show that not only have they no clue what they are doing, they just don't are at all. Don't buy a vehicle here, they'll only gouge you and try to cause problems. Don't take a vehicle in for repairs here, as they are not well trained and will over charge you.. read more

If I could give a -10, I would. I took my car in after the hailstorm last year thinking a Jeep dealership would know the most about Jeep's but I was wrong. They were supposed to have my car for 22 days but had it for 2 1/2 months instead and when I got it back it was do dirty, but that was the least of my problems. My car now sounds like the windows are down when driving but they says that's normal. After taking it back over 6 times I am now left fixing their mess at my own cost. Took my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 in because the TIPM failed. Other than the associated electrical issues with the failing TIPM, the engine/drivetrain ran perfectly. After 6.5 weeks and just under 3,000.00 in bills, I got my truck back with the "Check Engine" light on, a complete loss of power, horrible idle, crap fuel mileage, smoking, etc. etc. Varsity's invoice stated "Test drove the vehicle and running fine." Absolute nonsense. Repeated engagement with the management resulted in a big fat nothing, and I'm left to spend who knows what to bring the engine back to where it was before Varsity got their hands on it. Took my JEEP into the dealership for some repairs and came out knowing I was getting ripped out and given the run-around. Disappointed I stuck it out and went with them for my repairs. A month later I needed some other repairs done to my JEEP, unrelated repairs, and I went to the MIDAS on 16th Ave NW, and had way better service! The people at MIDAS were quick, honest, and wanted the best for me. Unlike the JEEP dealership which always leaves me feeling scammed, confused, and questioning if I needed to spend all the money they told me I needed to. My suggestion, go to the MIDAS on 16th Ave NW, quality work and the guys there were so knowledgeable and talked me through what was wrong and what my options were. Left MIDAS happy and satisfied knowing I got quality service for a quality price. AVOID Varsity! read more

My wife and I have purchasded two vehicles from this location and do not return for service and will never consider this dealership for future purchase. Upon purchasing a lease-back , we took the vehicleto the dealer on several occasions and after leaving it forthe hole day(each time) we got the vehicle back with a work order stating no issue was found, although we felt they had done all they could we were given a verbale promise not to worry, if anything went wrong they would look after us. I took the vehicle back as something broke in the front end and I was actually in visable distance of the dealship..,upon running the vin# I was advised my extended warranty had run out and there was nothing they could do for me. I have had a safety issue with the NEW vehicle that was purchased for my wife, the air pressure sensor inside the tire did not have a bolt on it and it slipped through the rim and the tire peeled off...thank god my wife and children were ok. Just wanted to say Phil Rutherford is the man to see! Amazing price, amazing delivery time, extremely outgoing and supportive of my obsession and temporary insanity while ordering a 2015 Challenger R/T. Patiently and encouragingly endured my daily calls and inquiries, followed all my requests for delivery, and honestly, for the price he gave me on the car, probably not getting paid enough to put up with me. Prior to this my wife and I bought a 2013 Grand Caravan from Varsity with Roger Bibeau (who I don't believe works at Varsity at this time). Secured me the best price in Calgary, fast delivery, patient with handling our trade in, and everything settled initially with a single phone call. I'm probably one of the worst people to sell a new car to; I do my own maintenance, order my own parts, know more about anything I'm buying than the salesperson does, and buying two vehicles from Varsity has been fast and painless. None of the typical "well, I have to speak to the sales manager", "I can only offer this price today", high pressure, drawn out crap I've experienced elsewhere. I can't speak to the service or parts department, although they secured me an amazing price on winter wheels so hopefully I'll have a positive experience to add regarding that as well. read more

Recently i took my Jeep YJ into this service center for a minor clunk i was occasionally hearing under my vehicle. They gave a total estimate (labour and parts) for over $2300. They claimed that it needed all new shocks, new control arms + bushings, and also all new sway bars. I then took it to an independent (honest, skilled and ethical) garage and they quoted 1 sway bar link needing replacement - under $300. The Varsity service center is a dispicable joke - full of Lies and DISHONESTY. I don't recommend this DIVE of a place to anybody. They are full of crap!!! And ugly assholes too. Not only can I not find a single flaw, even while staring and studying where the damage used to be, but they detailed inside and out. My new truck is new again. Having been completely honest with you and your colleague about our circumstances and the reasons for our poor credit, I remained hopeful that this new employment position might be a sign of things changing for the better for my wife and I. Respectfully, I completely understand if there is nothing your company can do to assist us in the purchase of a used vehicle but to be disregarded and treated with such indifference and heedless disrespect as to not even follow-up with me is truly unfortunate and most disappointing. With all due respect, if we must wait 3-6 months and pay cash for a good quality used vehicle, then this is ok with us and we are prepared to do this. Having said this, please know that such a future purchase will certainly no longer be with your company. I truly hope that you and your colleagues never have to experience the hardship of losing everything so late in life due to a natural disaster which is simply beyond yours, and any-ones, influence or control. We have never been ones to feel sorry for ourselves but have been amazed to see how different some people now treat us as we no longer present with an excellent credit rating like we did for the majority of our lives. I honestly thought better of you Josh, and your company, and am lost for words in even expressing my regret and shock that this appears to be our experience. We have met all kinds of people. It never gets any easier though to excuse and accept such unprofessional mannerisms and attitudes. Don't go there! Absolute terrible experience. I bought a used car from them. It seemed great on the test drive, but the day after I picked it up I started hearing nasty sounds from the clutch. I only drove maybe 400 km. All they were willing to help with was a free diagnosis, which is obviously a scam to suck more money from me. I brought it somewhere else for repairs, bad clutch and transmission. Cost me $2000. Varsity = horrible service! Give someplace else your money! read more

Recently went in to buy a vehicle. Pushy sales, and would tell me whatever I wanted to hear. As a smart consumer I walked away to do my research and found out that I was lied to on several points. Contacted the salesman to remove myself from his contact list and he blew a gasket accusing me of twisting his words. A sane person would have read my email and removed me from his leads. While I'm not sure that this is dealer policy to stretch facts and whatnot, I still caution people against doing business here. read more

Took my 2008 2500 Cummins in for some oil changes and electrical bugs yesterday. No problem with the oils and customer service was friendly so I gave it 2 stars. My rear passenger doors electrical wasn't working at all, my door ajar lights were flashing on and off when driving and the buzzer constantly goes off while the doors lock and unlock repeatedly. For this they greased the door hinge and told me nothing was wrong. It was buzzing and flashing as I drove away. Had to get a recall done to reprogram the ECU, which I was told would clear the codes for the EGR and O2 sensors. When it didn't, I told them I had checked the codes and told them what they were. They told me that it was just an electrical short so I asked them to fix it. When they called back they said my EGR valve wasn't working and that the replacement was $700. They charged me labor and a full diagnostic ($199 just to plug in reader which I had done). Removing the EGR is a matter of 5 or 6 small bolts but tried to make it sound like the whole truck was taken apart. I wanted my batteries and alternator load tested because my voltage was all over the place. They just didn't even bother testing these. There was a code stating that turbocharger control module isn't functioning properly. They also ignored this. The sunroof was is jammed and they charged me to diagnose the problem but I don't know what the problem is other than the fact that it still seems to be my problem. So I just paid $1400 to get some oils changed. My electrical is still going crazy, my rear door still doesn't work, my ABS light is still on but they charged almost $70 for ABS something or other. My engine light is still on with all the same codes showing that I had informed them of to begin with, and my EGR isn't working like I thought until they told me the recall would fix it. Hopefully they actually changed the oils, it took almost 2 days. I could have replaced all of emissions parts my self with that money, but I made a costly mistake. read more

My 2010 Dodge Journey had starting trouble and I had it towed to this dealership. I was told that the diagnosis would cost around $150. After that I was told that they had to change a solenoid relay and it would cost an additional $200. When I went to collect my car, I asked for the defective part, the relay, but I was told by the cashier at the service desk that they had cut the old connector and soldered a new connector to the solenoid. They showed me a cut connector, instead of a solenoid relay!! My total bill was $370 GST. I found that excessive and talked to the Service Manager who maintained that it was not excessive. My point is that the person who diagnosed it had already found the loose connection and fixed it .To put the components back, I was charged an additional fee which was part of the diagnosis. Also, they just fixed a loose connection but charged me $370 for "REPLACE STARTER SOLENOID RELAY!!" I will definitely not be going to this dealership again for my motor repairs!! So with minimal details due to complexity I was in a 100kmh accident vehicle completely destroy bought it from here and been a part of 3 sales here within two years normally they were good but this last experience was brutal, I looked for my old salesmen was no longer there got a new younger salesmen who made a lot of errors and lied a lot so I was coming in just to look for a diesel truck got me on a cummins promising a great price of 70000 so I go fill out all the paper work with finance and everything goes great told me I was approved and just needed the settlement from my insurance on the older vehicle but they charged me 85000 for the truck I explained that I was told it was 70000 now this was important because I had asked the salesmen twice what the cost was the second time I asked he said it was 85 but with rebates 70 they talk to the salesmen and find out he indeed did say it was 70000 so they change the paper work tell me they will send it through over a week went past before they got a hold of me to tell me to come on in then feed me some bs saying it was declined at the lower price same vehicle and tried pushing me into a gas truck for a ridiculous rate and I don't live close by it was an HR each way the most painful thing I do atm is driving and an easy way for them to abuse my credit to clean up there salesmen mistake with out loosing any more money but they have lost my recommendation and business wasted over 2 weeks of time left me stranded with a rental they promised to get me out of asap and disrespected me, thinking they could play me around way to beat a guy well he is down if the salesmen would not have lied about the price I would have paid the 81ish after rebates that it was but instead they hit my credit and try to throw me into gas the one thing I told them would never happen the second I showed up read more

1 star is being generous. I currently purchased a vehicle at Varsity, and my goodness it has been nothing but frustration. They do not communicate anything to you, I was constantly chasing them to find out anything about the status of the vehicle. They dance around telling you anything to the point. They take WAY to long to do simple work and again wait until you call asking because you've waited for days. All in all the customer service here is absolutely horrible, there is no communication or respect, things are done whenever they get around to it and attitudes of sales manager is awful. I will never go back, I will never recommend anyone to go here if anything I will tell people not to so they do not have to go through what I have been though. Just a terrible experience. read more

I brought a customer's vehicle for AC diagnose, they charged 119CAD and printed out a report saying that they have tested the system and confirmed that the compressor is working and that the condenser needs cleaning and retest. I cleaned the condenser and it still didn't work so i replaced it, still didn't work. I took the car back to the dealership, they tried charging me again for another diagnose, after explaining the situation to the advisor, they agreed to reinspect it. They called and said they need to keep the car over the long weekend because the Foreman wants to swap the compressor from another vehicle to rule out that problem, i agreed. After the long weekend the advisor called me and said that the need to replace H block and they are confident that its the cause of the problem, I said go ahead. 440CAD later the AC is still not working. Now they said they have to change the compressor which will cost 1600CAD even though in their first diagnose they confirmed that the compressor, and i quote, "in fact working". At this point i knew that they are just trying to get my money and they will end up replacing the whole AC system, i refused the work and took the vehicle back. I tried calling the Foreman and left him a voicemail. still haven't heard from them. Keith and Steve were very respectful in dealing with the situation, but it was very hard communication as i kept going there back and forth, one time Keith is not available, one time the mechanic is not available, one time both were not available and the front desk did not know anything about my vehicle. read more

We made the mistake of going for a test drive on a new vehicle at this dealership. We got some quotes and said we would think it over. They asked for a $1000 deposit to hold the vehicle on the lot for a week, stupidly we said ok since it was fully refundable...turns out the small print said fully refundable on delivery. We never actually said we wanted to buy it, and when we went to get our deposit back we were told the quote we received was actually a purchase agreement...a bunch of scribbled quotes on a piece of paper was considered a purchase agreement for a vehicle we never actually said we wanted to buy! Buyers beware take your business anywhere else...we went to Big 4 and the customer service there was heads above no class Varsity. read more

I purchased a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan this past February 2014 from Varsity Dodge in Calgary. A week later I found out about a $9500.00 rebate on all Grand Caravans purchased in the month of Feb. 2014. I went back to Varsity Dodge to ask as to why I only received a $2500. rebate and not the full amount. When I went there to talk to the Sales Manager (Justin Migneault) about this issue, the salesman (Jerry Wink) who sold me the vehicle came up to me and asked "Is there a problem"? I told him why I was there and asked why I didn't receive the full rebate. Jerry Wink's reply was " it's not my job to tell people about rebates, I'm only here to sell you a vehicle". Jerry also said "this is the way I was trained, it's your problem for not asking questions." (Trusting Jerry was a huge mistake) I then went to see Justin Migneault the sales manager and asked him the same question and his response was "it's your fault for not knowing because it was advertised on T.V., the newspaper and the radio". Justin couldn't give any other answers to any of my questions so he just passed me on to the General Manager , Steve Kindred, to handle the problem. Apparently,he just passes the problems on to his boss. A few days later I met with Steve Kindred and he already knew of the problem and explained that this is how the business works and Varsity is not in business to give refunds. Once the deal is signed, that's it, your out of luck because their in it to make a profit, not to care about the customer. (Even if you're right!) I will never again purchase a vehicle from Varsity Dodge. They have unethical business practices in my opinion. I hope people will read this and not make the same mistake as I did by putting my trust into Jerry Wink and the management team of Varsity Dodge. I bought my Jeep here in Oct 2009 and haven't had one problem. I wont comment on the actual buying process, because being a young female, I had an older male friend come with me to make sure I wasn't getting a crappy deal. However, I return here often for servicing and oil changes and have always been met with a smile and great customer service. After making an appointment for this past weekend, I drove into Varsity and was greeted by two gentleman in the service area. They were very friendly and helpful and assured me that my vehicle would be looked after in a timely manner. I sat in their waiting room which offered coffee & other hot beverages, as well as a selection of newspapers and magazines. I did have to wait a bit longer than usual, but it was fine because I had my book, and they did apologize for the wait. Because this was my 6th visit, my oil change was free. However, they offer extremely fair prices (I once took it to Minit Lube instead and was charged more) and the staff is usually very pleasant. I will continue bringing my vehicle here and I hope they keep up the great customer service. read more

Do not use this service department if you value your time or money. I had brought my 2014 Dodge Ram into the service department multiple times complaining of a engine noise. The first time at about 94,000kms, at this time they fixed exhaust manifold bolts that they stated were broken. I picked up the truck and immediately noticed there was still a noise from the motor. I contacted the service advisor I was dealing with and was told that they would need to charge me for diagnostics to figure out what the problem was. Even though it was just in for the same problem. I did not want to pay more for a vehicle that was still under engine warranty. The noise continued to get worse so I took it in again at 101,000kms. I got a message from my service advisor that they thought the truck had "bottom end" motor noise, I thought great we can get this fixed! Shortly after I got a message saying "it's lifter noise"... I questioned this as lifters are a top end engine problem and I was told already the truck had bottom end noise. They did charge me for "diagnostic" at this time and came back stating that the truck was 2 liters low on oil.. and that's why the lifters are noisy now, funny as I had just done the oil change 1500kms prior. When I questioned the truck burning oil and was told "it's normal because you drive aggressively (use it for towing)". So they topped up the oil, charged me for "diagnostic" and told me to pick up the truck. When I went to pick up the truck it stuttered, hesitated to start and was STILL noisy when it eventually did start. Not normal for a 4.5 year old vehicle with barely 100,000kms.. I then took the keys back in without removing the vehicle from their lot and asked them to please do their job in finding out what is actually wrong with the truck in which I got a snarky response of "you don't want to know what's wrong ha-ha..". This is because they knew it had an engine noise which they did not want to get into. Being in the dealership industry myself I have access to online technician bulletins and tips in which I found this is quite a common problem with these trucks and it shouldn't come to anyone's surprise that this engine is noisy. So I contacted Chrysler Canada with the problems I was having with the truck and was basically brushed aside due to not being a "loyal customer".. why would I be a loyal customer to a dealership that clearly is incompetent of finding and fixing problems when I work with highly trained and trustworthy technicians myself. Finding myself without help from either Varsity or Chrysler Canada I decided to take my truck to another Dodge service department for a second opinion. Within 30 mins of the tech starting the vehicle, noting the ABNORMAL motor noise, he had pulled shards of metal out of my motor which has been causing this noise the entire time. I got a call from him stating the motor needed to be replaced!!! Needless to say I was beyond angry at the fact that this whole time varsity was telling me "all is normal" and "nothing to worry about" Chrysler Canada then came back saying I needed to pay $1000.00 out of my pocket for the new motor because the truck is now 4000kms out of warranty. Even though this was all mentioned prior to warranty expiring! So all in all Varsity cost me over $1000.00 dollars and did absolutely nothing! If I would not have not trusted my gut and left the so called "normal" noise alone I would be out I can only imagine over $10,000+ when the engine seized completely. To top it off Chrysler Canada was also not at all helpful at all with backing up their product and I would look elsewhere for your next vehicle purchase and servicing needs. read more

Worst Dealership Ever, DO NOT leave a deposit as these sales people will double sell their inventory. We went in and signed an Agreement to buy a used truck. After a week of the run around from their finance team they called us in to "sign the papers" and then when we arrived they tried to sell us a 2015 as we were approved for much more. They ended up telling us that they sold the truck to someone else. Breaching the signed agreement and the Fair Trades Act of Alberta. They have yet to resolve the issue. I am greatly embarrassed for all of the employees and the owner of the dealership. These are unethical practises and I would highly recommend you go elsewhere to purchase a new or used vehicle. I went in for a test drive of a 2016 Dodge Journey SE for $16,000, that's being advertised by Varsity Chrysler Dodge Jeep. After about 15 minutes I was told they still had it. Reading from his computer screen, Christophe said the vehicle's been in the repair shop seven times. I made it clear that repairs to a vehicle I'm considering buying would play a large part of buying or not and wanted to know what repairs were done. He then said, "Well we can find out about that later." He asked me a lot of questions then said we can go test drive it but he had to go get the keys. About 25 minutes in and he left the room again. He came back saying it's been sold. It's now more than four hours later and that same vehicle's still on the web, exactly as advertised on their site and on CarGuru's. I'm also aware of many other comparable vehicles and some better deals elsewhere but was told by the salesman that what I'm looking for would cost a lot more. I do not recommend going here to purchase a vehicle, you may get the run-around, lied to, shady dealing and/or time wasted, as I have. read more

Go straight to the service manager Chris, he is the best service rep I have ever dealt with in all my years of driving. Fixed ALL my issues with no questions and all under Warranty on the same day. Maybe they are hit and miss but I have nothing but good things to say after my visit. Nice to see a dealer putting the customer first and doing what's right. And insanely friendly and helpful to boot. read more
