I usually don't write reviews like this, but I feel it's important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions.
I hired Jose for a home project, and unfortunately, the outcome was very disappointing. From the start, there were red flags, including inflated estimates--he quoted materials far beyond what was actually used (only about 70% of what he listed). More concerning, though, was the quality of the work. Many aspects of the project were left unfinished, and basic standards of craftsmanship were just not met.
The railings were cut unevenly and not secured properly--they can be pulled out with minimal effort. Edges and corners were left raw and unsealed, giving everything a rushed and incomplete look. Even Carlos, who worked on the drywall and wasn't present for most of the job, acknowledged some of these issues when he saw the results.
It also looks like critical construction steps were skipped--like not using wood glue in key joints--which raises real concerns about the durability and safety of the structure. On top of that, the drywall where the old wall was removed was never patched or painted. Baseboards taken out during the installation weren't replaced, and the demo work left noticeable damage on the stairs and surrounding areas that was never addressed.
This entire experience has been frustrating and expensive. I now have to bring in another contractor to redo and repair much of the work. I'm not writing this to bring anyone down, but to offer a real account of what happened, in case it helps someone else avoid the same situation. read more
