We just started our child in a basic Tap and Ballet class for 4 year olds at Variations and it's a smash! The teacher is wonderful and keeps it very fun and exciting, so all the little 4 year olds stay focused. It's a great introduction to how a dance class works and they make learning into a creative exploration of space and movement. We LOVE it! My daughter joined variations for the first time for the Making of a Musical Camp a few weeks back. We were blown away by the production.. so much so that she joined the second camp and, were equally impressed! She is now attending in the fall for a few classes and we cannot wait. Amazing teachers, super friendly and helpful owners, and a very supportive environment. Starting with my oldest, we have been coming since 2011. My girls love dance and I have no doubt that it is because of the environment in which they were exposed to it. I am so grateful that they have such a nurturing and positive place to learn. The most wonderful place for your child to learn confidence through movement! I honestly cannot speak highly enough about this amazing dance school. Whether you have a child who'd like to pursue a career in dance, or one who would like to try to improve their coordination, this is the place. They focus on a positive learning environment to increase dance vocabulary, and "performance" is optional! They don't harangue kids and parents into long and expensive recitals. Erin and John run a comprehensive dance program covering so many different dance disciplines for children and adults. Their passion for dance is palpable and they pass that on to everyone who is fortunate enough to come through the door. Their staff is comprised of professional dancers and educators from NYC and Long Island. They generously offer unique opportunities for their students to study with visiting masters as well, using their extensive industry connections. A GREAT PLACE FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY We love Variations so much we've even had two birthday parties there. Both parties were individually catered to the birthday child unlike many other party venues, Variations makes the birthday child feel very special.The party guests were welcomed warmly and encouraged to use their dance skills whether experienced or not. The instructors energy was contagious and had the groups boogying down in no-time...yes, even the boys! The parties were very organized, not rushed (like party place factories ) and reasonably priced. Our guests were thrilled. If you are looking for skilled dance instruction and a welcoming and fun environment, look no further! Variations is buzzing with positive attitudes and it is run by top-notch teachers. My daughter's teachers here were way more knowledgeable and professional about dance than other studios we've been to. Unlike our other studio, they focus on teaching dance technique and creativity instead of just focusing on a competition piece for the entire year and not learning!! overpriced. found the classes fine for little ones, but when i looked around at other studios in the area, i found these places also had some wonderful teachers and at much more competitive prices. also, classes start late a lot, which is a pet peeve of mine. read more

The first time I stepped into Variations I knew that this was going to be the studio that would transform me into the dancer I always dreamed of becoming. I started out as a competitive dancer at the age of 7, so as many competitive dancers know, I had the "technique of a competition dancer." When I was young this narrow style of dance didn't alarm me, because I loved the glitz and glamor of competitions and touring, so when It came time to give that up and come to variations at the age of 14, I was extremely reluctant. I wanted to do competitions for the rest of my life, but after one class at Variations, I realized everything I had been missing out on. Variations opened my eyes to dozens of new styles and showed me all different ways to push and strengthen my technique. Also, the adult class system at Variations is very easy and convenient and the classes are filled with high energy and challenging combinations. From ballet to hip hop, Variations' classes taught me not only how to move, but how to create. The positive vibes and smiles on everyone's faces when I walk into Variations everyday serves as one of the greatest motivators. The teachers at Variations are welcoming and supportive, and they are always concentrating on what is best for their students. After being a part of the Variations family for 6 years, I have had the most amazing performance opportunities, and I have seen a tremendous growth in my dancing. Wow!! VARIATIONS is the spot for creative dance on LI. After trying local dance establishments we were pointed in the right direction for our daughter. The owners and staff really concentrate on the creative art of dance. We live in Kings Park , but it's worth the trip. My daughters smiling face in the rear view mirror on the way makes the ride a dream. If real the art of dance is what u are lookin for Variations has a class for you. Look no further ! I scheduled a birthday party for my child at the dance studio, and while the business by all appearances is a professional dance studio, the birthday party was a embarrassing disaster. They seemed to have forgotten my party so 10 minutes before the party start the room was not set-up. They didn't put me in the room I was scheduled to be in because a class was in it (and I was assured that would not be the case). The decorations were tacky and from a dollar store with mismatched tablecloths and Dixie gargle cups (yes mini cups for 7 year olds) for watered down juice. The male owner was rude and flippant. It was awful. The instructor Serge was great, but he would have been great anywhere. DO NOT waste your money on a birthday party at this place! Even when I complained they barely apologized and instead reminded me of overtime they gave me (which was true and I thanked them for it) but the party started 20 minutes late because they were not ready so, go figure? Even scarier, they didn't seemed phased by the pictures of their tacky party set-up. I would have given them one star, but the overtime for my teeshirts to be completed makes them worth two stars. AVOID THIS PLACE like the plague for birthday parties. read more
