We purchased a combination wall/ microwave oven from Van's and were very pleased overall. We eventually needed a piece of trim replaced as well as a different type of oven rack. Initially there were issues addressing our needs (by staff that no longer is employed there) but with a follow up call from me we were assisted by Ashley (manager) who was fantastic to work with and immediately handled our order and followed through with a phone call to reassure us of timing for service. Kris (service rep) was amazing to work with, very prompt, professional and kind. Would definitely use them again in the future! read more

Well, I guess that I will join the rest of the terrible reviews of Vans in Auburn. We ordered a couch from them in February of this year. We still haven't received the couch. I went in to ask for our money back, and they told me that we can't ever get our money back because it's special order. This was news to us. We paid for the couch and have yet to receive said coach, they will not give us even an idea of when it will be in, and they will not give us back our money. At this point, it feels as if they have essentially stolen $3000 from us, refusing to refund our money or provide a date of delivery for the couch. The WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Ordered Washer Dryer set they gave me a start date. It came and went, they informed me when I went into the store that the start date meant when they get it and it would take 1-2 weeks to get it delivered and installed. I live literally 1 mile away from the warehouse. They tell me this as an installer is talking casually with a sales guy. I went an rented a Penske truck picked it up and installed myself. Told sales person couch for basement, paid extra for stairs. Delivery guys put gouges in our walls going down stairs then could not get the couch into the basement. Called the sales dept and was told sure they will take it back but there's a 25% restock fee and golly sure they will fix the damage to the couch that the deliver guys did and call us next week about the holes in our walls. Sadly I had already had a bad experience 5 years ago and wasn't going to go back but thought we would give them another chance since we knew the owners and have bought MANY things from them over the years. Van's Home Center Sells Appliances They Can't Service - Warranty is Useless Review: I bought a GE Café refrigerator from Van's Home Center in Auburn, Indiana, paying a premium for what I thought was quality and support. Just over a year later, the fridge completely stopped cooling. Van's sent a technician who diagnosed a refrigerant leak but admitted they are not qualified to fix it. Instead of resolving the issue, they dumped it on GE warranty and walked away. To make matters worse, I purchased an additional Van's warranty plan, which turned out to be completely useless. Don't waste your money on it--they offer no real help when you need it most. This is unacceptable. If Van's cannot service the products they sell, they should NOT be selling them. I've now been without a working refrigerator for weeks, and Van's has offered zero real help. If you value accountability and service, avoid Van's Home Center at all costs. read more

I'd like to start this out by saying I have NEVER written a review of a company before and we've had some less than perfect experiences but beware of spending your money with this company. We recently bought all of our appliances for our new home build through Vans, because it's who our builder recommended. We spent a crazy amount of money with them-Wolf appliances, Bosch dishwasher, ect. We moved into the house in May. Over a month ago our washer quit working, and since then it has been a HORRIBLE experience. We have had a "tech" out here 3 times and it still is not fixed. Every time we have had to wait on new parts to be ordered because they can't seem to figure out what's actually wrong with it and just keep replacing parts, then get on the schedule once parts are in which takes over a week everytime. Every time we have had to take a day off of work to be here waiting on a tech. It has been absolutely ridiculous. The tech also completely mansplained to me that "we live too far away for them to come soon and it makes them get home way too late" when he is on the clock getting paid, and we were the paying customers. Yet still they will not replace a 5 month old washer that they can't fix and is still under warranty "but has to be deemed unfixable". I'd say it's pretty unfixable if it hasn't been fixed yet. The my husband spoke to a manager who was supposed to call him back and never did. We have had such better help from Lowe's in the past with appliance. Wouldn't recommend spending your money with them, because they don't help you out after you give them your money. read more

Where does one actually start! This store should come with a warning label. Warning, you will experience no professional decorum, you will experience lack luster customer service...D- at best. You will have an inept installer, the repair squad doesn't actually repair broken appliances. We ordered a $1,000 dishwasher, waited 14 days to have it in stock and installed. The installation team fumbled majorly. It took them two hours to wedge the matching in and ultimately they left it unleveled, and non functional. First wash cycle in, the machine leaked all over our kitchen. Vans sends a guy out, doesn't see a leak after 3 minutes so he calls it good and leaves. The machine leaked again, they send out the A team, he wrenches on the thing, and it isn't leaking when he leaves, however...mid cycle it leaks. Well it doesn't take a genius to see the freaking door is broken and the door won't latch. So it's still leaking 3 week later. No apologies for the inconvenience, their mistakes, nothing. Now, after negotiating a new unit is on its way. However when we first discussed a new unit they had the audacity to tell my Husband per the warranty I purchased I could get a new machine however "i'd need to pick a different model" as if this is my problem it came either from the factory faulty or the installation team broke it on day 1. Either way, they lack the ethics to see who should be made whole and who is as fault. Never have I been part of such a circus and never will I again attend the clown show. We are so used to to the professionalism of Stuckys in Fort Wayne, I had no clue a local establishment would exists while operating like this. I wish i'd read the reviews. They are telling 100% the truth, I know this because my story is exactly their story. Such a waste of my time. 3 days of work missed, and another to come with the new installation. For reference, if you experience similar issues, consult an Attorney, we did, and there is recourse if they do not make the situation right. UPDATE after 28 days I had to call to check on my replacement dishwasher they quoted a 10 day delivery on. I mean...you can't make this crap up. They need to answer the phones. We bought our appliances there and had them delivered and installed. They need to teach the delivery people how to push in a refrigerator without denting in the doors of the fridge with their hands. I thought of calling them and complain but first of all, they don't answer the phones and second of all I highly doubt they would do anything about it. We just buy middle of the road refrigerators as they don't last and we usually just replace the fridge about every 3 years. We will buy it somewhere else. I don't understand how this place stays in business. Dealing with them has been nothing but a nightmare. In a world where it is easier to communicate with everyone on the planet these people will refuse to answer their phones and only call back 5 minutes before they close a week later or so. I bought several appliances from them 1.5 years ago and this is the second time the washing machine has broken on me. I bought the five-year service plan from them. Since it has broken down on me, I have had a service technician out 2 times and he determined that it cannot be fixed and they will have to replace it. Another few weeks go by and they finally call and say it's at the store but there will be a 99 dollar delivery fee. Interesting but they are supposed to take out the old washing machine as well. When I ask how they will be getting their other machine back they tell me... oh you will be bringing it to us. Sound like I need to charge them 99 bucks to me. If anyone doubt me, please feel free to call these people. They WILL NOT answer their phone. The only person there that has any redeeming qualities seems to be Brad the guy that is supposed to schedule deliveries. He will actually contact the customer service lady who absolutely refuses to do anything but be rude. Trust me, these guys preach keeping it local but treat you worse than the big box stores ever would. read more

Moved into new construction, Lancia in Garrett IN. Vans has a sweet deal with Lancia in where they supply appliances. Closed on Our house Sept. 26 actually moved into and living on Oct. 3 rd. On Oct 7th we try to use brand new GE dishwasher, will not stay on. Called Van's Homecenter, told us they cannot get repaired for 3 weeks! They have only one appliance repair man for all of Northern IN! A company that cannot service their customers in a timely manner, is either a greedy business that can not keep workers due to poor employee benefits. In other words you pay us the money for the appliances and then Van's can Jack you around. I'm sorry that we even did business with Van's and trust me NEVER AGAIN!!! Would not recommend purchasing from Van's Home Center for the simple fact that they have the rudest customer service you could possibly imagine. Placed 2 calls trying to schedule delivery, never got a call back. Finally called my sales rep and he scheduled me himself. I called the week before my appliances were being delivered to let them know concrete had just been poured and the truck drivers could not drive on it and was told a note would be made on the scheduling. Followed up the day of delivery to confirm the drivers would not pull on the concrete and the lady was so incredibly rude, it was unbelievable. Told me that she had been doing this job for seven years and you can drive on concrete after a week AFTER I said I was told by the concrete company to not drive on it for 30 days (warranty through the concrete company). Once she raised her voice at me, I of course did it back and she told me that if I was going to be rude, she was going to tell her delivery drivers to skip my delivery and they would come back in 30 days. I called back to speak with my sales rep following my dispute with her, and the lady who answered would not forward me to my sales rep. Have heard from multiple other people that they have had poor experiences with Van's customer service, as well. Honestly, a terrible experience. read more

I purchased and paid for Fisher Paykel/Frigidaire appliances (approximately $25,000) in July. The installation was to happen in November. The double ovens did not work after being installed. I was told Vanns could not figure out why. I researched until I found a national representative that assisted me in trouble shooting a solution. The dishwasher did not come with the parts to install or a kickplate. Vanns took a month to remedy. The Freezer did not make Ice and had to be adjusted. The Biggest problem was the downdraft was delivered damaged, Vanns left it on the Great Room floor since November. I had several contractors tell me they sold me the incorrect product. I shared that information with every installer, Scott the sales person and the warehouse. Today 02/09/2023 they showed up to install a new downdraft. It couldn't be installed because it is NOT the right one. I have called countless times to be told there was not a manager on campus and was sent to voicemail. This process has been horrific. Bought a dishwasher on Oct. 29th, wasn't installed until Nov. 8th. Installer found broken part upon installing, said Van's would call the next day. When they hadn't called, my husband called them. They said they couldn't get a tech guy out to fix it till Nov. 21st. Unacceptable. Asked for a refund. The girl that sold it to us told us there are no refund on any products. When I first visited the store, the sales people were very attentive. In fact, the sales floor staff were continually checking on us almost to the point of being over bearing . We found some furniture we wanted, and our sales person was very knowledgable. We ordered and was told it will be around 6 weeks up to eight weeks. After the order,and they have your money, their customer service is horrible. They will not return phone calls and God forbid anyone answer the phone there. I left three messages to inquire about the delivery of my furniture, which is now at 9 weeks. I finally made one more phone call to the sales floor and they immediately answered the phone. I asked the sales person that answered the phone my what my question was and he told me to leave a message for service. I asked him not to transfer me to her phone because I have already left three messages and have not gotten a call back. He looked up my account and told me it would be another three weeks and then they would call me to set up a time to deliver. Vans, you need to teach your staff about customer service and follow up. You are terrible with this. I am hopeful that I can get this furniture soon and then I will never order from them again. How hard is it to just pick up a phone, text or email with the updates. Two weeks ago we purchased a king-sized mattress totaling almost $3800. The day of purchase, the salesman said we had $300 of store credit, and suggested a $250 mattress cover for protection. Before we left the store, the salesman suggested two pillows ($50) to use the remaining store credit, and we agreed. When we called to arrange delivery, I asked that Van make sure that the pillows were king size, since I did not want regular size for my king size bed. The man arranging delivery agreed. We received a call just prior to delivery and I asked about the pillows again, but the delivery guys didn't know. When they brought the pillows in, I could see that the pillows were standard size, not king size, so I refused the pillows. I was told to call the salesman. I called the salesman today, and asked that I be able to use the $50 store credit toward another item. After checking with his manager, he said that the store credit was actually only for bedding accessories and had to be used only on the day of purchase. His only solution was for us to apply the $50 STORE CREDIT (his words) to king size pillows and pay the difference. $3800 is not a trifling sum of money, and wondering why a store would be willing to anger a customer over $50. We had no problem with the salesman, and the mattress seems to be okay, but the manager needs better customer service skills. Will not patronize Van in future. TERRIBLE QUALITY & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! VERY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! I paid $3400.00 for a custom leather sofa and recliner. They were supposed to come in 5--6 weeks; it took 10 weeks. Then when they were delivered, it was obvious that both pieces have serious damage. Their service tech (which was also a hassle to arrange due to them canceling my appointment) finally came out and noticed immediately the glaring damage; bent braces on both sides of the sofa, causing both side cushions to tilt, seams don't align on 3 sofa cushions, and back of sofa and recliner do not fit properly, leaving a 2 " gap. Also, due to the tilt on the cushions they now need additional foam. Who ever heard of a 2-week old piece of furniture needing new foam? Whenever I sit on the sofa or the chair my back and neck hurt because they are so crooked. The delivery people and the service men shared pictures with Customer Service, I have gone in person (no one is available to see me), emailed, and called. This has now gone on for a month. Van's refuses to speak to me or to solve my issue. Customer service has never picked up my call. The salesmen do, so I've called and shared my complaints with them, and then I will get a brief email response from Customer Service which does not provide a solution or directly answer my questions. I signed a sales agreement for new furniture, not damaged goods. They did not keep up their end of the signed agreement and I feel they are avoiding me. I want them to pick up this furniture that I cannot even sit on and refund my money. I have NEVER bought new furniture that was damaged before. I have purchased several pieces of new furniture over the years and it comes in perfect shape and lasts me decades. My salesman has never called me to follow-up on the process. I feel like they just took my money and now they are trying to avoid me. I asked the salesman if they stand behind the products they sell. Their actions seem to indicate they do not. I have missed time at work and endured back pain from the damaged furniture. It has been like a part-time job trying to get this issue resolved. read more

I've been waiting 8 weeks for a couch that I was told would be ready in 4-6 weeks. I called a week ago and they told me it would be ready to pick up this week. I called today and the lady told me mid September then put me on hold and said she wasn't sure but maybe next week. I asked if I could cancel my order and be refunded and I was told I could not. Now this has been pushed back many times there are no apologies by the store you can't ever talk to a manager because whoever she is won't return your call and apparently our sales person is on permanent leave for whatever reason so we have a new one now there was an ottoman that was with this furniture set that we bought and the last time I called which was a month to check on it again I asked about the Ottoman because apparently it was from a different company even though they had it displayed with the same company they said that we no longer could get that it's unavailable and they discontinued it I said what about the floor model well we sold that to someone else now why on earth when you have orders out there for people that are waiting would you be dumb enough to sell a piece of the furniture that they've been waiting on since December as of yesterday our furniture might arrive at the end of September which they say that every month and then it changes so my best advice would be to not go to vans in Auburn I hate to leave a review like this but other people need to know. Maybe if they would have apologized or offered something different or offered us the pieces from the floor but instead they didn't and they just said it's you know are bad luck that we ordered from a manufacturer that is way behind I get Covid is here Covid's been here but other people are getting furniture so I'm over that excuse. When I finally had enough a recliner miraculously showed up, we're now into December when it shows up. We picked it up from the store brought it home and it broke the next day. The only thing Vans could do was send a repair person out. 2 weeks after receiving a broken recliner a repairman comes out to tell me he can replace the mechanisms in the chair!! THE MECHANISMS!!! I called the store and was told that they would call the manufacturer for their opinion on returning my money or getting me a new chair!! Ordered a wall unit and a recliner on 12/18/20. I was told that it would be 4-6 months to receive furniture due to manufacturers being behind (COVID-19 shutdowns). The first week of April I called to check the status and see if I could get a firm ship date as it was coming up on 4 months. I was told they were expecting the recliner by the end of April but the updated wall unit ship date had been pushed back to SEPTEMBER! I asked what could be done as this was unacceptable and I was told nothing. It was considered a special order and there would be no cancellations. I used to work for a furniture manufacturer. I know what the turnaround time is once an order hits the manufacturing floor. That factory has not even seen my order yet. There is no reason why that order can't be cancelled I asked if I could buy the floor model and was told that it would have to be discussed with the sales rep. I was told that the issue would be discussed and they would look for a solution and someone would get back with me. I have never received a call back. This was my original experience with the sales rep when I reviewed my invoice a couple of days after placing the order and discovered he ordered a wrong piece for the 6 piece wall unit. 5 were ordered from the correct line but the 6th piece was from a different. I can't imagine how they would have handled that error. My guess - made me wait another 9 months to correct their mistake. This has completely screwed the remodel of my living room. I am now back at the bottom of my contractor's list and I am just sick over it. I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased from Van's. I would not have bought a single piece of furniture from them. My advice - STAY AWAY FROM VAN'S! They don't know what true customer service is. They could have easily offered other option's or at least tried to make me feel like they were looking for another option but they did even to do that. That furniture is months from being built. Buttermore Appliances has been bought out by Van's in Auburn, IN. This business (Buttermore Appliances) I would have given a 5 star rating. They always took care of their customers. Now, it is with Van's and now they are less than 1 star. They don't have time to take care of the work that Buttermore did. Even thou I was told by someone else there at Van's that they honor all the appliances that were bought thru Buttermore Appliances. They are VERY RUDE in Appliance service (Casey). Let alone -- leave a message two days ago and several today and NO CALL BACK!!! Even speaking to her next in command (Christy) wasn't very great either. Oh blah blah blah, we can't even service our appliances for our own store than take on what Buttermore did. We lost workers.
