I'll start off by saying that I haven't had great experiences with most mechanics in the past. For some reason, I'm always met with either a condescending or apathetic attitude when spoken to and it's always left an uncomfortable feeling for me. Aside from doing good work, I feel like being personable and having great customer service skills, regardless of what industry you're in, goes a long way with finding repeat customers and Van passed with flying colors. I happened to stumble upon his shop on yelp while looking for different options to fix my car and he gave me the most affordable quote and he was very thorough in explaining what were the potential issues with my car and how it would need to be fixed. I've went to many different mechanics over the course of my life and I've never felt compelled to write a review for them but I feel like Van deserves to be recognized and I wish nothing but success for his business. He's gained a life long customer out of me! read more

Every time I come here I'm amazed of the service provided to me.. I'm literally shock.. So he quoted me around 300 to fix everything wrong with my car ( which is already dirt cheap) then when he called me to pick up my car, he told me there was more problems/ work he anticipated and I was expecting him to charge me more but he said no I'll keep it at the price I quoted you.. I even told him I can afford to pay him a little more for the extra work but he said it's fine.. like who does that? I can't recommend enough this place! What an honest great person Quang is. read more

Most dependable mechanic . Always get the job done the right way. Best shop around town. Affordable pricing.

Very knowledgeable and completely honest. That is such a rare find in the auto repair industry. He gets very, very busy as you can imagine but if you need an honest assessment of what is HONESTLY wrong with your car and a fair price to fix it, Van's is the place. read more

I've been coming here since 2014. The only place I take my car in Orange County! Super friendly and nice !

I was referred to Vans Auto by my mechanic that had retired. I was able to get my Mercedes' brakes, oil change, and coil fixed. The service was great and very affordable. I am so glad that I was able to find an honest mechanic to work on my car. I will certainly be back for all of my car service needs. read more

This is the best Auto Repair I have ever experienced and I'm a senior!!! Q is the best mechanic and a really nice person! He explains in great detail what needs to be done and he is very reasonable with his quotes. I was truly amazed at the difference in my car. I suggest you always go to VANS AUTO first!!!!! read more

I didn't plan on stopping here when I did but I'm so glad I did. I found an HONEST MECHANIC THAT IS EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE! He's very upfront with what he charges, you will be fully informed and confident before he gets started. I will definitely be going back. I needed an oxygen sensor replaced. The Acura dealership quoted me a price over $400. I purchased The oxygen sensor on amazon for $24. and vans auto installed it for $40 out the door! WINNING!!!! read more

Quang is the best mechanic in OC. He has worked on my Subaru Outback, Toyota Camry and Toyota Land Cruiser. He always gets the job done when he promises to and his price is very reasonable. And if that wasn't enough, he is also the most honest mechanic I have ever had. Quang will recommend the best parts for your vehicle and even let's you go buy them and bring them in (unlike other mechanics who rip you off by marking up the price of parts). I drive all the way from the Inland Empire to take my vehicles to Van's Auto in Garden Grove. Look at all of their great reviews; I would give Van's Auto 10 stars if Yelp let me. You won't be able to find a better shop anywhere. read more

I have yet to find another mechanic in Orange County better than my USO Q! Prices are the best and the work is A plus!!! Bring all your car's here trust me read more

No matter what auto shop you go to, you'll always have that untrusting thought and nervous feeling that the mechanics will BS you just to rip you off and hustle your money. Well, you can throw away all those thoughts and feelings here because these men are honest and will give you recommendations on what is needed to be done for your car. They'll also lay off the hard shell so that you won't spend too much. Their estimates are fair and reasonable. I've been coming to Van's auto for quite some time now and I will continue to be a loyal customer. The owner's dad is an old friend of my grandpa so I was recommended to come here for all my car troubles and needs. These men know what they are doing and have worked on my car multiple times. Just recently I took my car in for them to replace my tires and fix some other problem with it. The next day I came with a credit card hoping to pay and pick up my car. Unfortunately, they didn't have a credit card machine, which it was a bit of a bummer but the owner was nice enough to let me drive my car home anyway. Of course, out of courtesy, I told him that I would be back the following day with cash in hand. Overall, this is a really great auto shop to go to if you ever have car trouble that needs a good fixing. Honest, nice, and reliable. I'd recommend Van's auto to anyone looking for an auto shop to get their car fixed. 5 stars for Van's auto! ((applaud)) read more

The owner at the shop is Super honest with reasonable service fee. I highly recommend this place!

Anh Quang is the most reliable, decent and professional mechanics I have ever met. He'll tell you straight forward if he can do the job or not and tell you exactly how much he'll charge. His workmanship is immaculate and the price is overwhelmingly affordable compare to other mechanics I've been to. I wouldn't trust anyone else to fix or touch my car beside Anh Quang. read more

No one else ever touched our cars. Quang does a helluva good job and the price is always right. I 100% trust him! For an oil change, a transmission swap or to supercharged my beloved mx-5, the job is awesome! Been going there for almost six years now and not planning to change! read more

Very honest guy (Quang). He's very straight forward as to what parts needs to be repaired or replaced.

I've been going here for years and don't trust my car to anyone else. Quang is the best!

Greatest Auto Shop in OC. Very honest and best quality work I ever had. Never going to different mechanic. I always drive to Van's auto from Diamond Bar to get work done on my cars. read more

Lets be honest, the "homie hookup" never really works out. After waiting a week on my friend to say he would fix my fuel pump, and having to uber around town, I finally caved and was referred to Vans Auto from a friend. I had my car towed here at 11 am and Josh called me at 3:30 to tell me my fuel pump was done and my car was ready to go and drive! I should have just called Josh in the first place, super speedy, guy knows his stuff, and takes great care of your car! Its tucked in the back when on a map, so be sure to drive down the driveway if you don't see it from the street! Thanks Josh! You are now my go-to mechanic. read more

Brought my BMW to get fixed.. (Quang) Legit keep leading me on for about a week, then left me hanging. DITCHED ME!!! Could have just told me he couldn't do the job. read more

This is not just a repair shop. They work on cars here. You can tell by cars in the shop. Are they all minivans and cross overs? That's a repair shop. The cars at this shop? Fixed up Japanese domestic and a cool parrot. Straight out of the fast and the delirious. Plus they play good music. Prices are more than fair. Wait area is a bench though. But didn't really matter because service was fast. read more

Very good mechanic. Been taking my car for years. I recommend this place to all my friends and family. Fair price.

Quinn is the guy man. 5 stars up, from import to domestic, tuning to regular maintainance, he covers all. And the price is always right!! He believe he deserves more than what he charges us, so I'm going to tip him next time. You see what I mean? 200% satisfaction guaranteed. read more

Hade my brakes done on a BMW here. I was happy with the work and the price, and the short turnaround. Much less expensive than the dealer. Good customer service. Five stars. read more

Van's Auto Repair is perhaps the best Auto Repair Shop in Orange County. I have taken three of my cars and recommended others to Quang all with very happy results. My most recent experience comes with my Honda Accord. I work in the LA area and there is literally a repair shop across my street. I knew my car was having problems and I thought it was my engine misfiring by the way the car would shake during idle. So I drove across the street at the recommendation of my colleague from my job to have it checked out. The mechanic there initially diagnosed my car as having a bad VVT Solenoid.I had to order the part and they said it would be done the same day as long as they had the part. I was quoted $345 for the part and installation. I held off and said I would return with the deposit to order the part the following Monday. I didn't go with Quang at the time, because of convenience since I felt I could have my car worked on when I was at work. Now if serendipity would have it; my car does not start the Saturday before returning to the previous mechanic. I was already in Orange County and I was worried and upset; as I had thought my poor timing had cost me. I decided to give Quang a call since I was nearby and had my car towed to his shop. Gave the keys to Quang and gave him the details I was experiencing. In 15 minutes, Quang ran a diagnostic and said it was my battery and he would check everything else. Told me to give him a call after 4 pm and said he can confirm everything for me. Being anxious, I called Quang about 3:30 pm and he told me my car was already done. Turns out I had a dead battery and a bad coil that was causing my engine to misfire. The VVT Solenoid I mentioned was fine and rarely ever needed changing from his experience. Despite having to get a new battery and paying for towing, I could have saved so much more if I had just went straight to Van's Auto. What makes this place incredible is the honesty. Sure some days I have to wait longer, but Quang knows what he is doing and there is a incredible feeling knowing that there is a mechanic that I can trust. Trust is such a sensitive characteristic that we take for granted nowadays. It gives me great comfort knowing that there is a business like Van's Auto out there and how it operates. Amen. read more

Just got my oil change done here and extremely happy. They got me in quick and got me out of there quick. The owner is really nice and seemed to genuinely care about the service. I will be going back here again in the future for all my car needs :) read more

Its hard to find an honest mechanic now a days, they all want to hustle you into getting work done that you dont even need. This is a shop I would recommend to anyone because I trust their word, work, and has fair prices. I get all my basic maintanence done here, and even had an engine swap done here. I've even bought a car from the owner a few years back. Been coming here since 2002, and plan on continuing to come here. read more

awesome shop.love the family. super helpful, compassionate and understanding. Very honest. Would never take any of my cars some where else.

Needed to fix an issue with a search engine light. Van delivered fast service, amazing pricing and was just a very chill guy. Really grateful for the service. He's got a small shop near the back of auto repair row. Was in and out in 1.5 hours, same day. Will be referring all my friends and family. read more

My first time submitting rating on this place. My patronage dates back to 1985 when the current owner's dad used to travel, providing oil change services. I came here to take care of regular maintenance on one of many cars we have. This place offers quality service at best price in OC, hands down! All you have to do is keep bringing your vehicles and allow them to prove their worthiness. Our family travel from I.E. to GG because they are worth the hassle. read more

My husband and I have been going to Quang (and his father before that) for about 30 years. They are honest, do quality work at a fair price. Can't get any better than that! read more

It's probably (almost certainly) impossible to find a better shop than Vans Auto! We had numerous cars fixed here, and were always more than pleased with the service! Quang will always find a way to fix whatever nightmare I'll bring to him! And oh boy, we had many :-) We trust him now for more than 10 years and we don't mind driving from Irvine, even for a simple oil change! read more

The best! What every mechanic shop should strive to be. I have been a customer for over ten years here. I have sent in dozens of friends, family and neighbors over the years, no one has ever had a remotely bad experience. Quang is an honest guy and so far, has always come in under the estimate price. He fixed a problem on my father in laws Cadillac that two other mechanics couldnt figure out. I couldnt recommend anyone else higer. Thanks Quang! read more

seriously your DREAM mechanic, even though they all say they are honest and reliable ..its totally true here. They tell you the up-front truth and still keep your budget in mind ! I will never go to another mechanic as long as i live in So Cal. Thanks guys :) read more

I had a good experience here. Needed to change my timing belt and I went to the shop at 2pm on a Saturday. Got my car back at 6pm and paid $200. easy in and out. read more

I found Van's auto by accident. I work nearby and my co-worker told me to go in this center cause my check engine light came on. I asked him if it was the shop in he back. He said yes so I went there but come to find it was actually the shop in the front. This is like the best mistake I've ever made for my truck. I've felt uncomfortable visiting mechanics in the past because I never felt that they were honest with me and I'm a girl so like I am like so bad at like you know... cars. I am pretty helpless when it comes to car knowledge. I pulled up at Van's Auto and Quang was sooooo nice. He checked out my car and told me I needed new sparks cause the old sparks that whoever put in were cheaper and although made things work, were the incorrect sparks for my car. He switched them and I also needed an oil change so he did that for me while I waited there. It wasn't busy so it didn't take long. I told him I was bad with cars and he said every few months just take my car to him an he'll just do a checkup. His prices are super reasonable and he has gone out of his way to get stuff done for me like getting a smog check when he doesn't do them there and like telling me stuff I need or don't need with my car. For example my bf thought he needed a transaxle filter since his manual said it did but Quang said it was still in good shape. I know other mechanics could totally BS and tell me it needed to be changed and charged me extra for labor. I've gone back to him twice to change my oil, taken my bfs car, and introduced my coworker to get her oil changed too. Everybody has been super pleased with him and his work. He has been so straightforward and I can't explain it when you just *know* when somebody is genuine. read more
